I've just started lino prints, done maybe 5...came across your channel...where have you been? Never come across gelli printing, this is outrageous...what a fabulous technique. And I so love your presentation style, no pretention, just get on with it. Brilliant.
You have the best Gelli printing vids on You tube. A real Printmaker and better than a lot of qualified professional printmakers i've come across. I'm definately inspired to do more with mine than straight forward image transfers
I love it when you said, I'm getting the lingo now. These videos are very real. You just sharing your experience with the Gelli plate. I love mine but don't get as much time as I would like. Keep making the videos these are so, so informative and enjoyable.
I discovered your videos maybe a week ago. I've been binging ever since! Your techniques, presentation and realism (fails are a part of life) are super-inspiring! We had all these gelli plates left over from who knows. We hung on to them but had no idea what to use them for. Since last week, we (my class & me) have been pulling prints, failing, wining, experimenting, etc every day. Thank you so very much. Please keep the videos coming. We love your work!
I just found your site. Very interesting printing. You are approaching the gel plate like a graphic designer/fine artist/print maker. When I have seen the plate used mostly by art journalers. I feel like I am going to learn a whole LOT from you! Thanks
Thank you so much Mark, I really really enjoyed watching you experimenting, with the Gelli plate, I really really love ❤️ how you show us so much more, including your lovely lovely drawing’s too. I really really love ❤️ your straight forward attitude to this too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Hi Sharon, so pleased you enjoyed the video. Have done plenty since this video, just pop to my channel and there might be something that catches your interest : )
I just stumbled upon your channel as I went down a printmaking rabbit hole....your content is wonderful. I'm totally new to printmaking, and your techniques and presentation make me feel so empowered to experiment!
This was wonderful, and I can't wait to try it myself. Also: you were the only artist I found with a review of the Gelelf plates, and based on your video and the results you got, I ordered one myself. So glad I did! Works like a dream, and I got it at a fantastic price.
I wonder if those grease pens would work? I have no idea what they are really called. You know those ‘carpentery’ (Ive seen them in grandpas tool box) paper peel pencils that will mark on anything, including glass and metal. Photographers use them to mark proofs and negatives. Genius trick with the slip mat thingy and the feather texture! Ill definitely subscribe, we seem to do a lot of similar stuff :)
Hi Russell, hope you have fun with it. If you like lino and drypoint, have you looked at my vids on masking tape collagraph? That's a technique I reckon you'll enjoy...
Thanks Kleeblatt, opens lots of opportunities! Hope you find some more tips in other vids. Love your channel BTW and hoping you get loads of success and the encouragement to keep sharing your expertise : )
MR. Yeates, i recently purchased a Gelli plate so I can experiment with mix-media techniques in Printmaking. This transfer method is awesome with just using acrylic paint. I'm an art teacher and a printmaker, I think my students will absolutely enjoy this unique technique. Keep up the excellent work, and tips. Greetings from San Juan, Puerto Rico!!!
Thank you so much Mark - this is such a helpful video, I have made conventional collagraph plates but really want to try this technique in conjunction with my gel plate. I shall get to work once this oppressive heat subsides. Many thanks!
I used a pencil that was sold as chinograph but when l tried to print it absolutely none of the drawing transfered , luckily l only used a test piece ! Love your stuff , I will try again with another type of pencil that is the right one hopefully 😀
I've had similar problems when I ordered refills for my retractable chinagraph pens - the refills were rubbish!!!!! I'm in love with crayola crayons - cheap and cheerful and give a god transfer, for the sharper lines you can just use a ballpoint pen and emboss a little.
This is fabulous! I have tried various ways of getting a hand drawn image to transfer, but not been as successful as this! Am excited to give it a go - thank you!
I haven't invested in a gel plate yet, but this really makes me want to get started. I like this method! I just couldn't see myself using prefab stencils and just doing "background" froufrou. This is meat AND potatoes! Thanks!
I made my own gelli plates using several RUclips vids as my guides. They're quite simple and cheap to make. When they become marred or damaged you can just melt them in the microwave and re-pour the gel stuff into your mold.
I'm really digging these new ideas to make the original plate for gelli printing. I would have never thought to experiment with these alternative (to laser prints) ways of creating the plates...i.e. china graph pencil, oil pastel pencil, et. I look forward to your new vids and am making my way through the previously uploaded vids.
So pleased these videos are helping you Kim! I actually found laser prints a little hit and miss and as i don't have a laser printer myself, this is much more accessible to me. I love drawing too, so this technique offers lots of possibilities... I see you have dropped me a few comments, thanks. Please let me know how you get on. Anything you discover I can cover in a future vid and we can spread the word - it seems there is a pretty big community out there who love home printmaking!!!

Wow this is so smart! I'd love to see the three print side by side... Thank you for sharing your experiments!!!
You have the best Gelli printing vids on You tube. A real Printmaker and better than a lot of qualified professional printmakers i've come across. I'm definately inspired to do more with mine than straight forward image transfers
cant agree more, amazing!
Using the texture to create the feathers was brilliant!
This is pretty excellent discovery. And so generous of you to share it. Thanks 🙏
No worries, a pleasure and I hope it works for you : )
I love it when you said, I'm getting the lingo now. These videos are very real. You just sharing your experience with the Gelli plate. I love mine but don't get as much time as I would like. Keep making the videos these are so, so informative and enjoyable.
This pencil is a game changer.
Proof that there's real magic in this world. 😄
Good to see what I think of as more serious experimentation and work being done with gel plate. Really good stuff.
Thanks Ken, had some encouraging messages in the last few days!

Hi there, I've had good results from my GelElf plates on the whole, certainly no more mishaps than with my Gelli Arts ones!
Brilliaant! I'm getting to know your videeos and loving them.

Just make sure layer of acrylic is thin and even and you work quick : )

I haven't invested in a gel plate yet, but this really makes me want to get started. I like this method! I just couldn't see myself using prefab stencils and just doing "background" froufrou. This is meat AND potatoes! Thanks!
you can make one diy , I will make one this week following this recipe ruclips.net/video/AL68R8mBCY0/видео.html
Watch the whole video, it's a bit messy, but at the end everything is clear even crystal clear. I think this is the best recipe.
You must buy one soon, and then lose a few weeks of your life as you won't be able to leave it alone : )
