    It's funny, I find myself listening to FJM more often because his music is much more tangible and it's just an easier listen. That's not to say his writing holds less water, I think his way of conveying his view of the world is really interesting and fucking hilarious most of the time. But when I put on a fleet foxes album, I'm sitting in my room alone with my eyes closed, and just experiencing it. It's just an otherworldly experience I don't want to taint by relating it to any ordinary moments I have in my day. As cheesy and pathetic as sitting alone in your room in the dark and humming along to Fool's Errand is, I really recommend it

    • @TheFilmsKaper
      @TheFilmsKaper 5 лет назад +6

      lmao, i feel the exact opposite way towards FJM, Pure Comedy is unbearable to me. Not saying that his music sucks by any means, I just enjoy Fleet Foxes a lot more.

    • @-Siwel-
      @-Siwel- 5 лет назад +1

      Sardonicous pure comedy is a masterpiece imo. Not saying you’re wrong I’m just interested in what someone couldn’t like about it.

    • @reecealeck8314
      @reecealeck8314 4 года назад +2

      -Siwel2308 - pure comedy is way to of a politically try hard album. Something being political doesn’t necessarily always mean the song is going to be bad. For example “Pumped Up Kicks” is a very good song. Why is it a good song ? Because they didn’t try to hard at making it political. The song and it’s theme actually came to them. But Pure comedy is trying way to hard in its political statements. It comes off as very cringe.

    • @nietzschesmustache9483
      @nietzschesmustache9483 4 года назад +1

      @@reecealeck8314 Although not my favorite by any means, Pure Comedy was (in my opinion) one of the best albums of the second half the decade. Although songs like "Two Wildly Different Perspectives" do come out a little bit corny I feel like some of the lines in the album were really smart. I don't think that FJM introduced us to whole new side of humanity, but the presentations as far as lyrics go was a really unique experience. But I think it's 100% understandable that someone might dislike it. I wasn't really a big fan of it either for the most part.

    • @shannonmckenzie1068
      @shannonmckenzie1068 Год назад +2

      I liked FJM at first, although he doesn't even come close to FF for me. Unfortunately I got to see FJM live and he was such a complete prick that it ruined his music for me, I haven't been able to listen since.

    Saw them in Louisville back in 17 '
    Was so stoked to maybe hear Blue ridge mountains. Sure enough , half way
    through the set it starts , I'm just digging the whole vibe. SUDDENLY , THEY JUST STOP ! Pecknold runs off the stage frantically, I'm like " oh shit ,what has happened to interrupt such a great song.
    Lights go down , people start whispering , think the show is over.
    About 4 or 5 minutes go by , BOOM!
    Robin runs back out strapping his guitar back on with an explanation " Sorry, my vocal coach insists I drink a lot of water"-audience laughs with relief -
    On they go , guess that's as a unique version of Blue ridge any audience would have ever heard . It was pretty funny, sure i'll never hear that song again without a little chuckle.

    Hey dude great video very informative and interesting although I have to kinda a disagree with you on the crack up album I love the bend and i follow them for a very long time, but in my opinion crack-ups isn't there greatest work, although they have made quite a drastic change on that album they haven't yet harnessed the full potential of that new sound that they've invented I think that will happen only in albums to come. And your video seems pretty objective until that point that you started talking about crack up and how much you love the album. And I think it is important that if you're making a video about a history of whatever to stay as objective as possible.
    But other than that love the video, it was very well made great work.

    As much as I like Fleet Foxes I just dislike artist worship in any sense and this kind of feels like more of that. I just came from a record club someone was hosting and everyone was heaping praise on the album and the artist just because they were old and this feels like more of the same except it's a more contemporary artist. I just wish we could appreciate the music we like without thinking the people who made it are these perfect geniuses and leave room for criticism and actual discussion. Constant glowing praise is just so...boring, you know? And it makes me resent and question my own appreciation for the thing in question.
