agree. I actually figured it out very early on when you find out the name of Amy's baby. I was like that's way too similar to River Song's name...so I just convinced myself she was their daughter and the twist reveal confirming my suspicions was even more gratifying.
Rita’s death in Dexter after he had already killed Trinity was the only moment of TV that actually messed with my head. I’d have used that instead of the ice truck killer.
Exactly! That’s the twist that should have been instead of the ice truck killer one. That totally caught me off guard. I remember watching the finale and sitting for about 5 minutes speechless!
Another one here totally agreeing. The Ice Truck Killer reveal was surprising, but I had almost forgotten about it. The Dexter moment that left the biggest impact was Rita's murder. I still think about that finale because it was such a shocking moment. But also because it was the turning point of the series. After that, the original writer and showrunner left and the show went downhill.
Ngl it choked me up and shocked me seeing the baby...He looked like my four month old son. I just ran into his nursery to check on him and make sure he was safe because I was that shaken.

The Lili of the valley moment in Breaking Bad was so amazing, for the character building but also in the way that the showrunners didn't take us viewers for stupid who needed something to be written or said, they assumed we were actually paying attention to what they were showing us
I think on Westworld, the twist that the Man in Black was actually William and the two storylines were set in different times was a bigger and better twist than the one about Bernard being a host.
@@VaibhavGupta788 I remember when I first saw that shocking and incredible John Locke twist, my jaw was wide open in complete shock, and that was the moment when I become a devoted Lost fan. Also, the line that Locke utters several times after the shocking reveal, "Don't tell me what I can't do", feels even more emotional and impactful to me than, "We have to go back".
@@VaibhavGupta788 Also the end of season 4 also had me being in complete shock, after Spoiler Alert, John Locke was revealed to be the character Jeremy Bentham and most importantly, that he was in a coffin. I could not believe that John Locke was dead and initial thought this was a joke and that Locke was alive and faking his death, and then I saw the episode, The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham, and was again shocked by his demise. I FUCKING LOVE Lost.
As much as I love the ward twist , the one used for agents of shield honestly should’ve been the Fitz twist in season 5, that was one of the most mindblowing things to grace my tv screen which the show pulled off all on its own without the winter soldier pre-existing, and it’s only elevated by the stellar performance of Iain Decaestecker Props for including scrubs though, great to see my favorite show on a list sometimes ^^
The most shocking for me was Sophia from the Walking Dead, right next to 007 from Grey's Anatomy. Chuck from Supernatural was another good surprise, and especially how he portrayed his character in the end. Finding out who Chris was from Charmed had me surprised. A little shocker for me was finding out who Frank's parents were on HTGAWM.

I swear. As much as Scrubs makes me laugh, when the show actually wantsto hurt you it will give a direct punch to the gut. Ben's death and Dr. Cox's grief got me sobbing.
Black Mirror had some great plot twists. I loved episode 2 of Season 1, "White Bear' when we realize where exactly she is and why no one is helping her. "Fifteen Million Merits" when we find out what the winning singer of the competition really had to do. And of course San Junipero when we realize the connection between the two plots.
@@dc7236 San Junipero is low key the best episode of black mirror. The music and the slow build up is a masterpiece. White Christmas, Black Museum, and Men Against Fire also had great plot twists too. I feel like every episode of black mirror pretty much had a great twist ending.
I was blown away by pretty much all of these plot twists but my absolute favorites were Ward's true alliegence, Bernard being a host and Lorca's identity
Oh yes! That was the best! When he sits up in bed with Suzanne Pleshette playing Emily and Bob saying he had this dream that he owned an Inn was fantastic!
It was awesome. The creators of Breaking Bad filmed a bonus where Brian Cranston woke up with Jane Kaczmarek talking about how he had a dream that he was a drug kingpin. A great homage to the Newhart finale.
I posted that the season finale in series 14 should be number #1 on the list. I mean, God is the bad guy? It was set up from the first time we meet Chuck but no one realized it for over 10 years!
Agreed! Im having mixed emotions, cant wait for the last episodes, but also very sad its ending for good. Who's watching all the seasons before the finale like me?
Missed the Bob Newhart show when he woke up with his wife Emily from his previous series and told her about his dream as an Inn Keeper in Vermont. Surprising and hilarious.
What about the death of Rory and Amy in Dr. Who. You truly believe that they've escaped the Weeping Angels without causing a paradox & it's like you're hit with a train at the realization that they did but they didn't at the same time. It was one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen (but I truly loved both Tennant and Smith's Doctors and all of Tennant's various companions {Smith's as well}). But there is a visceral reaction to the loss of the Centurion and Amelia.
The Nina twist in 24 was just straight-up brilliant. Not only was she the mole, but she also killed Teri to close out the season. Sarah Chalke and the writers put the viewers through AGONY at the end after working SO. DAMN. HARD. to make us trust Nina. That's just amazing TV writing.
The Red Wedding should be number 1 on this list . It deserves to be on top because this is the moment that truly defined the phrase of "subverting the audiences expectations" has not just been one of Game of Thrones best episode and moments. But, one of television history and of all time. Not just is Game of Thrones is one of the best television shows of the 2010s and the 21st Century, but of all time and will be indelible and will hold up in time.
Surprised the twist in Prison Break of Sara wasn't killed in season 3, and returned in season 4 wasn't on the list. I remember being totally caught off guard when I saw that for the first time.
the thing that excites me about the fact that AoS is on this list, especially in the top 10 is maybe Watchmojo (Rebecca) is finally watching the show lol, because if she got to the ward twist, there'd be no reason to quit on it after since it gets so much better.
They left out the gut-punch ending to How I Met Your Mother. It wasn't a GOOD twist but it definitely came outta left field as far as shock factor. For a decade, the show had us guessing the identity of the mother and wanting so badly for her to finally appear. But absolutely NOBODY could've predicted the depressing twist.
I loved the ending of How I met your Mother. The thing that shocked me the most was that people actually thought it was about how he met their mother just because it's the title. Hilarious. Seriously, the show started when Ted met Robin, 8 years before he actually met the mother. Of course it was about his relationship with Robin. The ending of LOST learned me something about people. They're dumb. The ending of HIMYM confirmed that.
The twist at the end of Season 1 of Quantico deserved a mention. There we’re many twists throughout the long season, but they all culminated into the finale reveal that blew my mind. Also Mr. Yang’s reveal from Psych season 3 is a great twist with NO foreshadowing beforehand.

@@beans1030 ER in a lot of ways is the perfect TV show especially for that era Great character development. It's a teaching hospital so you have a way to easily introduce new characters. It tackles real-world issues that affect the show character progression. My one flaw is how it ended I would have had the 15th season Carter takes over as the chief of the department and Rachel Green is starting as an intern. That's what I would have done for the 15th and final season. Because we get brought into ER in a lot of ways through the eyes of Carter he starts as an intern and ends up in attending I think it should have ended with him as the chief of the department.
24 just came on Netflix a few weeks ago and ive started watching it so the Nina reveal was still fresh for me. Lost is great too cant wait to watch it again.
The delicious irony is, and I'm adding this for posterity, the Who shot J.R. plot line was a happy accident, with CBS ordering additional episodes after shooting wrapped. Not only that but with writers' strike slowing things down, the reveal didn't come until the 4th episode of the next season. That said, I myself was a bit of a loss because during when it's originally aired, most Western shows were banned for political reasons, and by the time it arrived a whopping decade later, only the fact that there was no internet yet saved a lot of people from the reveal. The problem is though, that Dallas is connected to the previously conceived, but later green-lit Knots Landing, so certain happening on Dallas cannot be fully understood without watching the other show.
@@Desertpuma I remember. There was even a parody of the saying--"I Shot J.R.!". I discovered "Soap" later, in reruns. It's a classic. The ultimate soap opera spoof. The first season finale, in Spring 1978, presented 5 possible suspects. The culprit was revealed that fall. Strange that it didn't get more attention. The show was a big success in general, though. Launched the careers of Billy Crystal, Robert Guillaume, Katherine Helmond & Ted Wass.
Didn't see the twist in Charmed with the boys coming back from the future and all. HTGAWM and WandaVision are among some of my absolute favorite TV twists but definitely saw them coming
To me, those twists were poorly set up and executed. They had the potential to create a team of serial killers of mythological proportions, but got let down with the result.

If John Locke's walkabout twist is not up there, then I'm gonna be so mad.
That had me up off of my couch, running around the room!!! I almost think it was better than "We have to go back."
@@alilately1013 ikr, it is so criminally underrated.
@@izetyusein3323 you summed it so perfectly, it is so emotional & gut wrenching especially considering what happened to Locke throughout the series.
@@VaibhavGupta788 Also the end of season 4 also had me being in complete shock, after Spoiler Alert,
John Locke was revealed to be the character Jeremy Bentham and most importantly, that he was in a coffin. I could not believe that John Locke was dead and initial thought this was a joke and that Locke was alive and faking his death, and then I saw the episode, The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham, and was again shocked by his demise. I FUCKING LOVE Lost.
As much as I love the ward twist , the one used for agents of shield honestly should’ve been the Fitz twist in season 5, that was one of the most mindblowing things to grace my tv screen which the show pulled off all on its own without the winter soldier pre-existing, and it’s only elevated by the stellar performance of Iain Decaestecker
Props for including scrubs though, great to see my favorite show on a list sometimes ^^
Greatest plot twist? When your favorite show got cancelled.
Did that happen to you? Which show?

I swear. As much as Scrubs makes me laugh, when the show actually wantsto hurt you it will give a direct punch to the gut. Ben's death and Dr. Cox's grief got me sobbing.
That one and the organ donor who had rabies episode. I think it was called "My Lunch"

I gotta go back and watch San Junipero
@@dc7236 San Junipero is low key the best episode of black mirror. The music and the slow build up is a masterpiece. White Christmas, Black Museum, and Men Against Fire also had great plot twists too. I feel like every episode of black mirror pretty much had a great twist ending.

also metal head had me on the edge.

Still think the ending joke of Newhart is classic
Definitely deserves to be on this list. Whenever anyone mentions series endings, this is the first thing that pops into my head... and makes me smile.
Hope we get a top 10 Coulson moments video next
So we aren't gonna talk about how Chuck was God in Supernatural?
I mean he literally says “I’m God” in his first episode after learning that the Winchesters are real.
Adriana Garza I am retired and TNT plays episodes Monday - Thursday. I have watched seasons 1 through 14 three times now.
@@lynbaker7780 awesome!!!
River Song twist has me in tears whenever I watch it!
I would’ve picked the whisperer mole from season ten of twd or Sophia was in the barn the whole time
That’s true. Sophia being in the barn as a walker was very unexpected
Newhart finale was inexplicably overlooked here.
This was an awesome list mojo!!! Thank you 😊
Mr Robot still gives me second hand depression.
Such a sad but beautiful show
Missed the Bob Newhart show when he woke up with his wife Emily from his previous series and told her about his dream as an Inn Keeper in Vermont. Surprising and hilarious.
well they do reference it when they mention that the snowglobe one was a better "it was all a dream" twist
Erlisch thank you for update
Lost in the thumbnail. You got me.
Dean opens his eye and reveals he’s been turned into a demon (Deanmon) Supernatural
007's reveal in Grey's!!!!
I'm still not over it
The last episode of 24 was one of the most iconic In television history. Also the twist with President Logan in season 5. What a show!
The Logan reveal made so much sense as to be incredible. And like most "arch villains", he was the opposite of Jack in nearly every way.
Lost's "we have to go back" is unbeatable!
Besides Nina in 24, there is that same season's finale, where we learn that Nina killed Terri. Totally devastating.
That's the one they should've mentioned.
I had forgotten all about that one!
Those two last episodes are jaw dropping.
I know im a year late with this comment but 24 best show ever. So many twists, i remember freaking out about nina then also killing teri. Brilliant
Lost is one of the greatest shows ever
Agreed
The Red Wedding should be number 1 on this list . It deserves to be on top because this is the moment that truly defined the phrase of "subverting the audiences expectations" has not just been one of Game of Thrones best episode and moments. But, one of television history and of all time. Not just is Game of Thrones is one of the best television shows of the 2010s and the 21st Century, but of all time and will be indelible and will hold up in time.
Dale Cooper: "What year is this?" - Twin Peaks, Final Episode. I think many don't get that show.
"You named your daughter... after your daughter."
-- One of the best lines in Doctor Who
Elliot's Location and the Prison plot twist were great but nothing like the finale.
Mr. Robot has around 20 different plot twists & all those are mind-blowing!
Even though the bent neck lady is on this list it's still very underrated and should be higher
Walking dead should have been Dante being a whisperer. As a comic reader that threw me way off
Yeah
That was predictable asf
It was honestly predictable from the moment he opened his mouth he was really sketch
Sophia in the shed is a good one too.
Surprised the twist in Prison Break of Sara wasn't killed in season 3, and returned in season 4 wasn't on the list. I remember being totally caught off guard when I saw that for the first time.
I remember reading or hearing about that long beforehand....they let the cat out of the bag too early on that one
Yessss, Mr.Robot
Best show of my 4+ decades here on earth. Episode 407 might be the most perfect episode of TV of my lifetime, past AND future.
Picard being assimilated by the Borg deserved one of the top spots on this list!
Can you do top 10 villains who could be the main villain of the third Spider-Man movie in the MCU?
VENOM
Kraven the Hunter
I'm really enjoying these top 20 lists
The last one, for 24 and its twist is reminiscent of the movie" No Way Out" with Kevin Costner. And that was a total shock to me.
Turning Grant Ward into a traitor and an Hydra agent, was the best decision ever made in history of television!
THANK YOU!!! I was hoping someone else would say it lol. That show deserves more respect
Holy cow it’s actually on here, I never thought watchmojo would include anything AoS on a list😂
the thing that excites me about the fact that AoS is on this list, especially in the top 10 is maybe Watchmojo (Rebecca) is finally watching the show lol, because if she got to the ward twist, there'd be no reason to quit on it after since it gets so much better.
Jo exactly that is the point of no return for AoS. I just hope the do the 10 best Coulson moments video that I suggested
@@jamesparker7932 yeah hopefully
The red wedding was the most shocking for me.
Facts😭
That MASH episode is still tough to think about. I didn't watch it live--not that old--but saw it a few years later. Just gut-wrenching.
The chicken segment from MASH, Was a well---written, disturbing, and powerful piece of TV drama and so was Number 15.
Newhart's similar twist was better than St. Elsewhere since it actually kinda made sense, instead of coming clear out of left field.
Yes but these are supposed to be coming out of left field. They don't have to make sense as long as they surprised people..
It's hard to believe this classic episode wasn't even mentioned on this list.
Rise of the Dark night where Bane reveleas he never escaped the prison and Talia was playing him all along was a real good twist imo
Iroh revealing that Zuko's great grandfather being Avatar Roku still gives me chills.
I also have to add the twist of Oman’s reveal from S1 of Legend of Korra. Had me reacting the same way that Red Wedding had others.
Can you guys do a top 10 ER moments or top 10 ER episodes? it's my favorite all-time TV show so I would like to see where you guys would rank all of that

@@beans1030 exactly it's my favorite show for a reason lol yeah the later seasons are kind of weaker but they're still really good but I mean a list of the top 10 episodes when you have 15 seasons to choose from over 300 episodes I'd be interested to see what people think are the top 10
@@rockinrj87 Definitely....and I have favorite eps in the later seasons too. Had a better appreciation for it when I came back to it. Felt like it dragged on when it was on the air, but I still really enjoy most of it.
That
"where do you think we are"
always gets me.
THIS IS US started throwing me off when the firefighter started smoking in the hospital....I was like " what year is this?!"
The idea for that sort
of cliffhanger probably
also came from "Soap",
which had a similar situation
with "Who killed Peter Campbell?"
2 years earlier.
People had to wait an entire year and it was speculated on every magazine in America when it happened
@@Desertpuma
I remember. There was even
a parody of the saying--"I Shot J.R.!".
I discovered "Soap" later, in reruns.
It's a classic.
The ultimate soap opera spoof.
The first season finale,
in Spring 1978, presented
5 possible suspects.
The culprit was revealed that fall.
Strange that it
didn't get more attention.
The show was a big success
in general, though.
Launched the careers
of Billy Crystal, Robert Guillaume,
Katherine Helmond & Ted Wass.
Didn't see the twist in Charmed with the boys coming back from the future and all. HTGAWM and WandaVision are among some of my absolute favorite TV twists but definitely saw them coming
Perfect list
Zack Addy from Bones ?
To me, those twists were poorly set up and executed. They had the potential to create a team of serial killers of mythological proportions, but got let down with the result.
