Hi, can you make video about the regular model because i think the difference between the two is very minimal, same chip as last year put my decision to upgrade on hold, should i stay with 13/13 pro if i have it?
The prices went up crazy in Europe. When I saw the announcement, I was relieved that the prices stayed the same, but when I went on the European website, I saw the new Iphone 14 Pro went from 1159€ to 1329€! Wtf!!!
The prices here in Europe skyrocketed like crazy... The cheapest of them, the base 14 costs 1050€ now where it used to be around 900€. Also the pro starts at 1350€ vs the old 1180€ and pro max starts at 1500€ vs the old 1280€.
@@artmaltman No.. pounds are worth more than dollars £1=$1.15 and for me, iPhone 14 pro max rn is £1,199 when it normally was £1099(starting price).1 euros is the same as 1 dollar. A pound is bigger.

I think I’m gonna skip this one. Always on display is the first thing I’d turn off in a phone that has it, battery hasn’t really improved, and the camera on my 13 pro is still amazing. I’m really interested in the camera comparisons though.
Interesting changes, but nothing that makes me willing to part with my 13 Pro. It does what I want it to do and does it well. As others have said, I'll ponder a switch should they ever go to USB-C.
@@erLexo EU has already passed regulation to make USB C mandatory on all phones by Fall 2024. Apple has no other choice. Rumors are that Iphone 15 will get USB C
If you’re wanting to upgrade from 13 to 14, I strongly suggest you take some personal finance classes. Wasting money upgrading Apple products each year is silly.
They are literally selling us an “interactive Pill Notch” I’m honestly shocked that people are super wowed by this. Like everything else the hype will die out after a few months.
The new features sure are exciting, but unless you really need the cameras for whatever reason, I would recommend sticking with the 13 Pro as iPhones are built to last a while and the 13 Pro is such a great phone that really checks all the boxes, so I wouldn’t advise an upgrade.
@@mizzcrazygal hey Yasmin, as a semi-pro photographer who has 13 Pro and Nikon Mirrorless, I think that it WILDLY depends on what you want to be taking photos of - or on what levels. • I usually use my phone to snap everyday photos, even nice places and memories of vacations. IPhone13 has KILLER quality for these and is well enough even for printing - but when it comes to the portrait or art photography, I still reach for the big camera. • Admittedly, it is a lot of more work postproducing the photos from the mirrorless.
@@mizzcrazygal When you compare photos from the 13 to the 13 Pro, there is a massive difference in quality (for me, anyway). I’ve been using the 13 Pro since December, and some of my friends got the 13, and the photo quality is amazing for both, although the Pro is objectively better. However, with all the added bonuses for the 13 Pro (ProMotion, ProRaw for videos, better battery, and cameras, of course), I think you’d want the 13 Pro more than the 13. Personal opinion though, pick what you want.
Are there any consistently massive changes from another brand? I feel like it's not just smaller and smaller upgrades each year, but just the perspective of looking back further. Between years there are only incremental changes, but it just adds up when you look at more than one year's differences.

It has been like that forever. Year over year are incremental changes, but compare the phone from today to the one 5 years ago. The same thing happens with other brands. Are Samsung phones that different year of year? Googles approach is it keep changing stuff on you, not much sticks though, just look at their product/software line up..it’s a mess.
One thing that I havent seen anyone bring up: If you are expected to directly touch the "dynamic island" wouldn't that constantly smudge the front camera? I feel like you would constantly need to wipe off your camera
Interesting observation! I gather that it is interactive, yes, but the camera occupies only a very-small portion of that space - a 3mm-ish-diameter circle. Also, at typical focus distances, I’d expect such fingerprints to be waaay too close to be in-focus enough to make any substantial difference in image quality.
Its not a good idea to upgrade phones every year. Aside from the money drain every year you are likely to not notice a huge jump in the experience since the upgrades are minor. It is better idea in my opinion to upgrade every 2 - 3 years if something is not wrong with your phone
I usually upgrade after 3 years sometimes even a little longer. Unless the phone is complete trash but i try to just get a good phone and i take good care of all my devices. I do want the 14 pro but my 12 will do me for another year and a half or two. Plus i really like the blue that the 12’s had… bring it back apple!!
I’ve had my iPhone for 4 years. Time to upgrade. But the colours made me not wanna upgrade. Bittersweet. Some upgrade every year with great second hand iPhone prices justifying the upgrade. Me I just upgrade when Apple’s OS start heating up the phone, and draining the battery for everyday tasks. I even swapped to a new battery, it’s not the battery, it’s iOS, or Xcode compiling for newer processors, or developers not caring about optimising. Whatever the case, it always happens after 3-4 years. Otherwise I’d keep using my phone. It’s great. Looking forward to the camera upgrade!
No, I don’t think you should, personally. Unless you’re someone who either needs/would utilize those camera improvements, or really likes the new pill and dynamic island mechanic, stick with the 13 Pro. That’s what I’ll be doing. I’m excited to see what the 14 Pro cameras bring to the table, as a photography and video enthusiast, but the differences between it and the 13 Pro series are so minor otherwise, that it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to upgrade from what is already arguably the most capable smartphone on the market.
Ye, tbh I would have still been rocking the 11 Pro Max if I didn't get such an amazing deal on the 13 Pro Max when it launched about a year ago. I feel no need to ever upgrade from this thing till it starts to crap out on me.
I’m sure just like any other year With the nice screen and also small size It will look great but not much greater unless u purposely zoom in or have side by side And still look ugly if u want to print it out or put it on larger screen But I’m sure all these YTer will hype it up
Minor? You completely skipped on the part where iPhone 14 uses a lot less energy which means less overheating so the screen can finally stay bright. This is huge for someone like me as my iPhone constantly dims out for how hot gets. Not to mention it has an hour of better battery life even though the screen stays on all the time. That's pretty damn convenient.
@@Duran762 again, I am sure it is good for specific use and ppl.. but for majority, it will likely not be noticeable until being pointed out or side by side comparison at the exact moment and sure if you love it.. plz go buy it and it will help with the stock as a shareholder :)
Not everyone upgrades every year. I've been using an iPhone X which is now nearly 5 years old. Since I suffered a recent screen crack and the lightning port is a little suspect, it's way past time to upgrade this cycle and I will. I also think that the reason that 8K video is not on this iPhone is because we're still stuck with the aforementioned lightning port for another year. Once USB-C hits, then 8K video makes a lot more sense.
I currently have the iPhone XS Max which I bought when it came out in 2018. It has been 4 years with the Xs Max and it has been incredible with ZERO issues. I believe upgrading to the iPhone 14 Pro Max will be a nice upgrade! I can’t wait to order it!

I live in Europe (Germany) and whereas in the US prices stay the same in Europe they have increased a lot. After VAT you pay 1449 EUR for the MAX and 1300 for the regular Pro (128 GB). EUR and Dollar are in parity now so just imagine you guys would have to pay these amounts in the US.
I just want to point out that only US price stays the same, prices went up in almost all other countries. And personally, I don't think it's worth it, as not much has been upgraded 😒
I do not understand why so many people hated the notch. You do not notice it when using the phone. The only thing that I did not like about the notch was that it took away the battery percentage. Other than that I do not really mind the notch
Currently having a 64 iPhone Xs, and I'm glad that we didn't get any price hikes! This 14 pro looks promising compared to my Xs and I'm definitely upgrading this year to the 512 gb model!
The modem alone will make it worth it. I found the XS Max I owned had a worse modem than what my 7+ had. When I upgraded to a 12 Pro Max, I found it was much better. Include all the other features like low light pictures, better camera, brighter screen, and I think you will really enjoy the upgrade.
2 Years ago updated from the 6S to the SE :) Now i'm finally going up to the 14 Pro Max. If you travel a lot the Satellite connectivity is wonderful to have.
Yeah I think it’s worth updating if your phone has a home button lol. I have a 6 and it would be a major update to me too. Unfortunately I can not afford it anyway
dynamic island is such a great design. As a developer myself i appreciate the approach of turning a necessary downside in design into a feature that advances the user experience and looks so effortlessy elegant !
@6:22 you can see how big of a space it is taking when you're playing genshin. you'd be miss tapping it a lot while playing and your immersion of the beautiful scenery would be ruined
Last time I upgraded to the 13 Pro Max I had a $1000 trade in offer from AT&T which made it virtually free, I’ll definitely upgrade again if they have a similar offer, which Apple seems to imply. Getting all the new features for no additional cost is a no brainer.
You're $1000 trade in is given to you in bill credit over 3 years, not all at once. After then will it be, so y'all have to pay the remaining balance of you're iPhone 13 PRO MAX

I’ve had my iPhone 7 since it first came out, and am now waiting for my new iPhone pro 14. I’m really excited but I know I won’t be updating my phone again for another few years 😉
For people saying how well they’ve integrated the pill with the notifications. Try watching a video to see how well it integrates. It eats up even more vertical space than the notch
I know the longer I make my 11 last, the better my upgrade will eventually be. It is exciting to know these phones are consistently getting better though and apple is taking serious care to perfecting their phones and software
@@JesusGarcia98.F Someone else with 11 pro problems… I can’t really describe a ton of the problems with mine but they’re for sure there… And I’ve already had to get a battery replaced and a whole phone swapped out
I’m very happy that you talk about the Screen dimmering, one of the most important problem (for me) in the old models. Apple says that the new iPhone 14 pro has 2000 nits peak outdoor brightness but it’s important to see the behaviour of the display when the iPhone reaches high temperatures. I’m looking forward a new video about it.
Massive disappointed in losing the SIM tray. I did not see this coming. After years of managing my phones, now I have to go through carrier gymnastics just to swap out my phone?? This makes me furious.
I’m trying to figure out how to purchase and use SIM cards from other countries when traveling. The 13 pro was money when it comes to traveling. I used it a lot this year and don’t know why apple would get rid of the SIM card option
@@MegaDjc2000 Swap battery? I use my phone a LOT (6-8h a day) and I always end with at least 50% battery unless I use it much more. Trust me, this battery can last another 2-3 years easily. I would only swap it IF it wouldn't last me all day which will be very hard to achieve
Upgrading from an iPhone X. I used to upgrade every two years. However, since 2018/2019 the advancements have not been as substantial and the phone have just been that good. To me it makes sense to wait 4 generations unless you just have to have the latest.
Will be waiting for all the 3 iPhones (12 Pro Max, 13 Pro and 14 Pro) camera comparisons - cause end users will never really notice any major difference in photo quality or compare having all the 3 side by side (even though there will be improvements over the last year’s)
I think I’m going to do the same thing I mean I really like the new features such as crash detection and satellite communication. But I have a 13 promax 1 TB and I need to pay off five months of payments in order to be able to upgrade so it Has to be worth it for me

We are in a time where if an iPhone 6 or 7 photo or any other smart phones photo is put up on social media and says it’s the latest iPhone 14 Pro photo or the latest Samsung photo - Not many will be able to tell the difference or if it's really a latest iPhone 14 pro photo including the person who themself put those pictures after a while...LOL.. Lot of such things are already happening on social media and I can’t stop having fun looking at people comparing photos and saying sky looks better, darker/blacks are much darker/blacks and what not - heights of fun!
They look better but most users probably never even use the great photo features the phone already has. iPhone 12 Pro has some better camera features Than the new 14.
i’m goin from a iphone 13 pro max to the iphone 14 pro, i don’t like the notch so i’m excited. i like the brighter screen. kinda miss my phone being lighter too.
The only thing I want is the always on display. But I’m keeping my 13 PM in green because it’s amazing and it’s green. Maybe they’ll release a green phone again in the future then I’ll upgrade.
I love the green. I've had the XS Max for 3 plus years now and it's starting to power down at random times and locking up where I can't open apps. I've waited as long as I can so now I'm going to upgrade. I will wait on his camera comparison b4 upgrading but would love the green phone color.
@@ladynole35 I came from an XS Max as well to the green 13 PM… was a pretty significant jump. I’d argue that dynamic Island is a prettier upgrade… but not a fan of the colors. Maybe Space Black if I was going for it. Think the next substantial upgrade id jump for is a microLed screen & USB C. Even some of those rumors of an under display camera and in-screen fingerprint sensor are some major things I’d consider holding out for.
This coming with the satellite connectivity sold me on upgrading. I currently need to purchase and carry a separate device since I’m always in the back lands with miles and miles of dead zones. So having this feature along with the camera is worth the upgrade to me.
If Apple continues the trend of giving the base model iPhone the sensor from last year's Pro model, maybe the regular iPhone 15 will get a 48MP sensor and therefore the "2x optical equivalent" zoom option. I do miss the optical zoom on my 13. I'd love some of the Pro features like ProMotion, zoom lens etc on an aluminium iPhone.
I believe it will! And like you, I want some features from the pro too. Personally, I really need the 120hz display. I'm tired of the good old 60hz one.
Why? I took the iPhone 10(X) to South America and Europe. I used the ESIM feature which those phones have, it doesn’t change anything….the rest of the world is more advanced in this aspect. US is lagging behind. Plus you don’t need a physical chip. Saved me from going to stores on my trips
I'm probably gonna have the XR for another year. I still don't feel like I need to upgrade right now. My phone still works, I still got space on it and my phone is paid off. And for someone who casually uses their phone this isn't really necessary. Heck even if I was just getting the base 14 it still doesn't seem worth it. In my opinion at least. For me
I have the XR too and I probably will get an upgrade (especially for the space) because I use my phone for a lot of stuff especially recording and taking pictures. The iPhone XR has a good camera but the 13 and 14 seem to have an even better one. If I had the iPhone 13 I probably wouldn't upgrade to the 14. But rn I'd either get the 13 idk about the 14 the prices are the same so that's a W
I hated my XR. I went to a Xs max after my Xr and it was a night and day difference. WAY better phone. But that’s just me lol. I have a 12 pro max now and I’m thinking about upgrading but prob not going to.
Should I upgrade from an iPhone XS Max? I run 2 RUclips Channels and the iPhone and GoPro9 are the main cameras I use the Apple M1Pro MacBook Pro 14-inch as my editing Machine.
I’m honestly considering it because of the 48mp camera alone. Some are saying to wait for what the iPhone 15 has in store for us but here’s my rebuttal and I understand but here’s my rebuttal. If you have a 48 mp main camera, it will take a while before that thing goes out of date, considering that the 12mp camera has been going out of style for the past couple of years. And honestly, if I had to do it, I would add a physical zoomed lens to that camera just so that I can take optically zoomed, 48mp images. What do you guys think, am I wrong and should I wait or no?
SE 4 will have size of 13mini with new cameras and chip, maybe they will raise the price from 400$ to 500$ and that's all, so mini IPhones will still be, just not every year updated
I’ll be sticking with my 13 Pro. And will also be picking up a 13 mini. There’s some interesting improvements on the 14 varieties but nowhere near enough to get me to upgrade. What I really wanted was a 13 mini pro. Guess I have to settle for a standard 13 mini.
I was always a mini phone guy, bought the 12 mini it overheats just from using maps in room temperature. The battery life is trash it’s only a little bit better on the 13 mini. I love the small form factor but I just can’t deal with these shortcomings. I’m going for the pro model next time. There is no way I should have to charge my battery halfway through the day, when I had a Samsung S7 edge years ago I never had to worry about charging throughout the day and usually had about 30% left when the day was done. Anyway if that’s not a problem for you then go for it!
Crash detection is not major, unless you're planning to crash your vehicle often.. but the Dynamic Island is epic, look forward to seeing that as it evolves and improves.
From Portugal here, Pro Max model went from 1279€ to 1500€ 😬 sticking with the S22 ultra I guess, hoping android 13 improves the exynos version's performance a bit
@@kaustavkapur5532 6E is 6GHz and gets over 1Gbps both ways. Less congestion. My Pixel 6 Pro and Fold 3 both from last year have it. Surprised it's not on iphone this year. Bluetooth 5.3 is, however.
@@kaustavkapur5532 WiFi 6 is still good and unlike 5 it works on both 2.4 and 5GHz channels. With the right equipment and backhaul, however, 6E really shines.
I got rid of all my Apple products when I realized it just sucked for work purposes. Microsoft Office is half-baked on Mac and iPhones cannot multi-task as well as the Galaxy Note 22 Ultra. Night and Day. I also noticed that Google apps and banking apps work better on Android.
One suggestion: Can you please reverse the position of the iPhone 13 and 14 in the comparison charts which you are showing? i.e. keep 13 on LHS and 14 on RHS. What do you think?
I was actually thinking to upgrade 12 Pro Max, but lack of a physical SIM is just a deal breaker. I’m not sure how it will work with corporate SIMs. I won’t be able to switch to a local SIM when traveling abroad. That’s just insane.

the prices are the same only in the US .. Here in the UK the bse model IPhone Pro has increased from 949 £ to 1099 .. that's a ridiculous price increase
If you charge your phone overnight, I'm confused as to why it's so necessary to have fast charging? If you just keep your phone charged and don't stay on it constantly, there should never be a continuous ongoing life situation of always having a dead phone and needed fast charging.
I'm SO glad the notch is gone! Those camera improvements look nice too, and a brighter light is great. The satellite tech would be GREAT if it could be used for more than just SOS stuff.
With the Dynamic Island, won't the fact that you'll be touching it cause it to accumulate fingerprints over the camera lens and sensors impacting camera / face ID performance and requiring frequent cleaning?
I have the 13 Pro Max (upgraded from the 8 Plus). I am set for years now. There is no need to upgrade each year. For the average user most of these incremental updates are not substantial.
I’m sticking with my iPhone 13 Pro Max in gold I got mine June 8th I like mine it’s nice an not upgrading I hardly ever do I use to have iPhone 11 to an it’s literally same iPhone to ☺️

Im actually all about the cameras because i love photography, and i have seen the difference between the two cameras and its actually not that big of a deal, and btw, my current phone is the first upgrade for 5 years 😂😂
dual e-Sim sucks for those that travel abroad. USB-C we all knew we weren't getting that, most likely next year. Satellite Emergency SOS is cool af, will def come in handy and very likely save lives. All in all, pretty cool iPhone. I'm not upgrading from my iPhone 12 Mini though, till next year, since I try to upgrade every 3rd year. Hopefully we FINALLY get USB-C next year.
Price for the Pro Max here in Ireland went from €1279 for the 13 to €1489 for the 14 Pro Max. No pro upgrade for me any more. Not paying close to €1500 for a phone.

Personally, I have seen a huge difference in quality of photos (both day and night) when I upgraded from 12 pro max to 13 pro max! It was a very big difference! Not to mention screen picture quality & battery life! So, I am sure that 14 pro max will be amazing! Upgrade is on its way :)
I went from the 12 pro max to the 13 pro max and didn’t regret upgrading. Currently awaiting for my 14 pro max to come in and to trade in my 13 pro max.
I really want to see the Siren go off on the Apple watch ultra, and I also want more customization for the action button, Maybe you should have the ability to use the shortcuts app on your iPhone to set the action button customization up
I hope they continue to differentiate the standard and pro models. Im keeping my 12 Pro Max until they make USB-C standard across all devices, more standard internal storage and more interesting form factor/usability.
I’m upgrading from a iPhone 11 Pro Max. My car connection has the lightning and why I’m doing it this year cause I’ll need pay switch out connectors when it goes to usb type. I know eventually I’ll need to,do it but this phone will last me another 3 years.
I thought the floating island was really cool and the purple looked kind of nice but they lost me at esim since I swap my SIM card between my iPhone and galaxy, sometimes I want to use my android phone or go back to my iPhone. This feels like I will be locked into one phone. I will be sticking with my older model for a while, let’s see what they have next year since this was a kind of lame update.
The ultrawide camera went from f/2.4 on the iPhone 12 Pro Max to f/1.8 on the 13 Pro Max. I remember this was considered a massive upgrade for the ultrawide lense at the time. But now the ultrawide on the 14 Pro Max is jumping back up to f/2.2. What are the implications of this? Is it possible that the old ultrawide in the 13 Pro Max might be better in a lot of situations? The ultrawide is my favorite lense.
I think that is because of bigger sensor..so f2.2 is not necessary downgrade compared to f1.8 on smaller sensor...that's only a theory, maybe I'm wrong...
The way cameras work, to keep the f/1.8 they would need a whole new lens and sensor system. Because of the sensor improvements and the new software, low light will still be better at f/2.2 on the 14 when compared to the 13.
@@lilapple I'm shure that lens on 14 f/2.2 is bigger than on 13 f/1.8, but sensor is also bigger...so that f/2.2 glass technically give more light on sensor than current one on 13 pro...
It still gathers more light because it is a significantly larger sensor (1/2.55>1/3.6). Plus, the larger pixels should help significantly with dynamic range which was arguably the biggest weakness.
I have the iPhone X and was waiting eagerly for iPhone 14 release buuut it didn't 'wow' me! now I'm starting to wonder if I should just get my hands on 13 pro instead and save my $$$

Sitting on the fence. My 13 pro max is still good like new and is working perfectly well camera wise and functions. The changes here doesn't really wow me except for the new purple color looks pretty. Lol But I might upgrade to the new apple watch ultra from my iwatch 5
Totally in agreement. The ultra watch was the most impressive thing today. I just bought my 13 pro max and the 14 just didn’t change enough for me to switch out.
As cool as these upgrades are, I’m honestly happy sticking with my iPhone 11 for another year. There are several upgrades that I would really love to have, but considering my current phone works so well and I’m still getting a lot out of the cameras, it’s very hard to justify spending over $1000CAD after selling my older device. Maybe next year though!
The 11 still a really good phone what did they change from lightning to USB port then it'd be worth an upgrade maybe next year 11 takes great pictures it's only when you compare them to the 14 pro does it seem like it needs work but besides that it's a great phone I wouldn't upgrade
Still using IPhone XS. Thinking whether to upgrade. Using 3 years plus. Only complain is the battery life . The rest still working fine other than occasionally minor lags.
Surprisingly better that most reviewers expected! And without price increases. I'll stay with my iphone12pm until the 16 comes out. Brighter screen is essential; I cannot see the screen when taking photos in Bright sunlight. But we'll done Apple.

The prices went up crazy in Europe. When I saw the announcement, I was relieved that the prices stayed the same, but when I went on the European website, I saw the new Iphone 14 Pro went from 1159€ to 1329€! Wtf!!!

The prices here in Europe skyrocketed like crazy... The cheapest of them, the base 14 costs 1050€ now where it used to be around 900€. Also the pro starts at 1350€ vs the old 1180€ and pro max starts at 1500€ vs the old 1280€.

I think I’m gonna skip this one. Always on display is the first thing I’d turn off in a phone that has it, battery hasn’t really improved, and the camera on my 13 pro is still amazing. I’m really interested in the camera comparisons though.
I have iPhone 11 for last 2+ years and it’s working just fine. I’ll keep using it for another 1-2 years.
Interesting changes, but nothing that makes me willing to part with my 13 Pro. It does what I want it to do and does it well. As others have said, I'll ponder a switch should they ever go to USB-C.

The new features sure are exciting, but unless you really need the cameras for whatever reason, I would recommend sticking with the 13 Pro as iPhones are built to last a while and the 13 Pro is such a great phone that really checks all the boxes, so I wouldn’t advise an upgrade.
Unless you can get a killer deal on the buyback / selling for the 13

I usually use my phone to snap everyday photos, even nice places and memories of vacations. IPhone13 has KILLER quality for these and is well enough even for printing - but when it comes to the portrait or art photography, I still reach for the big camera.

@@mizzcrazygal When you compare photos from the 13 to the 13 Pro, there is a massive difference in quality (for me, anyway).
I’ve been using the 13 Pro since December, and some of my friends got the 13, and the photo quality is amazing for both, although the Pro is objectively better.
However, with all the added bonuses for the 13 Pro (ProMotion, ProRaw for videos, better battery, and cameras, of course), I think you’d want the 13 Pro more than the 13.
Personal opinion though, pick what you want.
Sticking with my 12 Pro for now. I am finding the change’s becoming more and more incremental each year.

It has been like that forever. Year over year are incremental changes, but compare the phone from today to the one 5 years ago. The same thing happens with other brands. Are Samsung phones that different year of year? Googles approach is it keep changing stuff on you, not much sticks though, just look at their product/software line up..it’s a mess.

One thing that I havent seen anyone bring up: If you are expected to directly touch the "dynamic island" wouldn't that constantly smudge the front camera? I feel like you would constantly need to wipe off your camera
Interesting observation! I gather that it is interactive, yes, but the camera occupies only a very-small portion of that space - a 3mm-ish-diameter circle. Also, at typical focus distances, I’d expect such fingerprints to be waaay too close to be in-focus enough to make any substantial difference in image quality.

Its not a good idea to upgrade phones every year. Aside from the money drain every year you are likely to not notice a huge jump in the experience since the upgrades are minor. It is better idea in my opinion to upgrade every 2 - 3 years if something is not wrong with your phone

I usually upgrade after 3 years sometimes even a little longer. Unless the phone is complete trash but i try to just get a good phone and i take good care of all my devices. I do want the 14 pro but my 12 will do me for another year and a half or two. Plus i really like the blue that the 12’s had… bring it back apple!!

I’ve had my iPhone for 4 years. Time to upgrade. But the colours made me not wanna upgrade. Bittersweet. Some upgrade every year with great second hand iPhone prices justifying the upgrade. Me I just upgrade when Apple’s OS start heating up the phone, and draining the battery for everyday tasks. I even swapped to a new battery, it’s not the battery, it’s iOS, or Xcode compiling for newer processors, or developers not caring about optimising. Whatever the case, it always happens after 3-4 years. Otherwise I’d keep using my phone. It’s great. Looking forward to the camera upgrade!

No, I don’t think you should, personally. Unless you’re someone who either needs/would utilize those camera improvements, or really likes the new pill and dynamic island mechanic, stick with the 13 Pro. That’s what I’ll be doing. I’m excited to see what the 14 Pro cameras bring to the table, as a photography and video enthusiast, but the differences between it and the 13 Pro series are so minor otherwise, that it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to upgrade from what is already arguably the most capable smartphone on the market.
Ye, tbh I would have still been rocking the 11 Pro Max if I didn't get such an amazing deal on the 13 Pro Max when it launched about a year ago. I feel no need to ever upgrade from this thing till it starts to crap out on me.

Minor? You completely skipped on the part where iPhone 14 uses a lot less energy which means less overheating so the screen can finally stay bright. This is huge for someone like me as my iPhone constantly dims out for how hot gets. Not to mention it has an hour of better battery life even though the screen stays on all the time. That's pretty damn convenient.

Not everyone upgrades every year. I've been using an iPhone X which is now nearly 5 years old. Since I suffered a recent screen crack and the lightning port is a little suspect, it's way past time to upgrade this cycle and I will. I also think that the reason that 8K video is not on this iPhone is because we're still stuck with the aforementioned lightning port for another year. Once USB-C hits, then 8K video makes a lot more sense.

I currently have the iPhone XS Max which I bought when it came out in 2018. It has been 4 years with the Xs Max and it has been incredible with ZERO issues.

I live in Europe (Germany) and whereas in the US prices stay the same in Europe they have increased a lot. After VAT you pay 1449 EUR for the MAX and 1300 for the regular Pro (128 GB). EUR and Dollar are in parity now so just imagine you guys would have to pay these amounts in the US.

I do not understand why so many people hated the notch. You do not notice it when using the phone. The only thing that I did not like about the notch was that it took away the battery percentage. Other than that I do not really mind the notch

The modem alone will make it worth it. I found the XS Max I owned had a worse modem than what my 7+ had. When I upgraded to a 12 Pro Max, I found it was much better. Include all the other features like low light pictures, better camera, brighter screen, and I think you will really enjoy the upgrade.

2 Years ago updated from the 6S to the SE :) Now i'm finally going up to the 14 Pro Max. If you travel a lot the Satellite connectivity is wonderful to have.

Apple says that the new iPhone 14 pro has 2000 nits peak outdoor brightness but it’s important to see the behaviour of the display when the iPhone reaches high temperatures. @@MegaDjc2000 Swap battery? I use my phone a LOT (6-8h a day) and I always end with at least 50% battery unless I use it much more. Trust me, this battery can last another 2-3 years easily. I would only swap it IF it wouldn't last me all day which will be very hard to achieve
Upgrading from an iPhone X. I used to upgrade every two years. However, since 2018/2019 the advancements have not been as substantial and the phone have just been that good. To me it makes sense to wait 4 generations unless you just have to have the latest.

Lot of such things are already happening on social media and I can’t stop having fun looking at people comparing photos and saying sky looks better, darker/blacks are much darker/blacks and what not - heights of fun!

I love the green. I've had the XS Max for 3 plus years now and it's starting to power down at random times and locking up where I can't open apps. I've waited as long as I can so now I'm going to upgrade. I will wait on his camera comparison b4 upgrading but would love the green phone color.
@@ladynole35 I came from an XS Max as well to the green 13 PM… was a pretty significant jump. I’d argue that dynamic Island is a prettier upgrade… but not a fan of the colors. Maybe Space Black if I was going for it. Think the next substantial upgrade id jump for is a microLed screen & USB C. Even some of those rumors of an under display camera and in-screen fingerprint sensor are some major things I’d consider holding out for.
This coming with the satellite connectivity sold me on upgrading. I currently need to purchase and carry a separate device since I’m always in the back lands with miles and miles of dead zones. So having this feature along with the camera is worth the upgrade to me.
The satellite is only usable for Emmett calls. You cannot use it to browse music or RUclips.

If Apple continues the trend of giving the base model iPhone the sensor from last year's Pro model, maybe the regular iPhone 15 will get a 48MP sensor and therefore the "2x optical equivalent" zoom option. I do miss the optical zoom on my 13.

As a frequent traveler outside of the USA, the decision to remove the SIM tray is a dealbreaker. It’s a hard pass for me.
Why? I took the iPhone 10(X) to South America and Europe. I used the ESIM feature which those phones have, it doesn’t change anything….the rest of the world is more advanced in this aspect. US is lagging behind. Plus you don’t need a physical chip. Saved me from going to stores on my trips

I have the XR too and I probably will get an upgrade (especially for the space) because I use my phone for a lot of stuff especially recording and taking pictures. If you have a 48 mp main camera, it will take a while before that thing goes out of date, considering that the 12mp camera has been going out of style for the past couple of years. And honestly, if I had to do it, I would add a physical zoomed lens to that camera just so that I can take optically zoomed, 48mp images. What do you guys think, am I wrong and should I wait or no?

I was always a mini phone guy, bought the 12 mini it overheats just from using maps in room temperature. The battery life is trash it’s only a little bit better on the 13 mini. I love the small form factor but I just can’t deal with these shortcomings. I’m going for the pro model next time. There is no way I should have to charge my battery halfway through the day, when I had a Samsung S7 edge years ago I never had to worry about charging throughout the day and usually had about 30% left when the day was done. Anyway if that’s not a problem for you then go for it!

Crash detection is not major, unless you're planning to crash your vehicle often.. but the Dynamic Island is epic, look forward to seeing that as it evolves and improves.

correct me if I am wrong, is there a big difference between wifi 6E and wifi 6, I mean it isn't like its wifi 5 vs 6. It's still wifi 6
@@kaustavkapur5532 6E is 6GHz and gets over 1Gbps both ways. Less congestion. My Pixel 6 Pro and Fold 3 both from last year have it. Surprised it's not on iphone this year. Bluetooth 5.3 is, however.

@@kaustavkapur5532 WiFi 6 is still good and unlike 5 it works on both 2.4 and 5GHz channels. With the right equipment and backhaul, however, 6E really shines.
curious what are you doing with your phone over wifi that you need more than a good wifi 5?
I got rid of all my Apple products when I realized it just sucked for work purposes. Microsoft Office is half-baked on Mac and iPhones cannot multi-task as well as the Galaxy Note 22 Ultra. Night and Day. I also noticed that Google apps and banking apps work better on Android.
One suggestion: Can you please reverse the position of the iPhone 13 and 14 in the comparison charts which you are showing? i.e. keep 13 on LHS and 14 on RHS. What do you think?
I was actually thinking to upgrade 12 Pro Max, but lack of a physical SIM is just a deal breaker. I’m not sure how it will work with corporate SIMs. I won’t be able to switch to a local SIM when traveling abroad. That’s just insane.
Still love my iPhone 12 Pro Max! When it came out it was the latest and greatest and for me it still is.

the prices are the same only in the US .. Here in the UK the bse model IPhone Pro has increased from 949 £ to 1099 .. that's a ridiculous price increase

If you charge your phone overnight, I'm confused as to why it's so necessary to have fast charging? If you just keep your phone charged and don't stay on it constantly, there should never be a continuous ongoing life situation of always having a dead phone and needed fast charging.

I'm SO glad the notch is gone! Those camera improvements look nice too, and a brighter light is great. The satellite tech would be GREAT if it could be used for more than just SOS stuff.

With the Dynamic Island, won't the fact that you'll be touching it cause it to accumulate fingerprints over the camera lens and sensors impacting camera / face ID performance and requiring frequent cleaning?
I have the 13 Pro Max (upgraded from the 8 Plus). I am set for years now. There is no need to upgrade each year. For the average user most of these incremental updates are not substantial.
Sincerely hope there's an option to turn the "always on" screen off. That's a total nightmare update for some of us 😬

Im actually all about the cameras because i love photography, and i have seen the difference between the two cameras and its actually not that big of a deal, and btw, my current phone is the first upgrade for 5 years 😂😂

All in all, pretty cool iPhone. I'm not upgrading from my iPhone 12 Mini though, till next year, since I try to upgrade every 3rd year. Hopefully we FINALLY get USB-C next year.
Price for the Pro Max here in Ireland went from €1279 for the 13 to €1489 for the 14 Pro Max. No pro upgrade for me any more. Not paying close to €1500 for a phone.

Glad that iPhone 14 Pro has SIM card tray outside the US. Switching esim between phones is a nightmare and is not possible in most cases.
Personally, I have seen a huge difference in quality of photos (both day and night) when I upgraded from 12 pro max to 13 pro max! It was a very big difference! Not to mention screen picture quality & battery life! So, I am sure that 14 pro max will be amazing! Upgrade is on its way :)
I went from the 12 pro max to the 13 pro max and didn’t regret upgrading. Currently awaiting for my 14 pro max to come in and to trade in my 13 pro max.
Apple makes noticeable design changes with thier even numbered devices and they make real upgrades with thier odd numbered devices

I’m upgrading from a iPhone 11 Pro Max. My car connection has the lightning and why I’m doing it this year cause I’ll need pay switch out connectors when it goes to usb type. I know eventually I’ll need to,do it but this phone will last me another 3 years.
I thought the floating island was really cool and the purple looked kind of nice but they lost me at esim since I swap my SIM card between my iPhone and galaxy, sometimes I want to use my android phone or go back to my iPhone. This feels like I will be locked into one phone.
I will be sticking with my older model for a while, let’s see what they have next year since this was a kind of lame update.

12 Pro Max Gold moving up to 14 Pro Max Deep Purple
The ultrawide camera went from f/2.4 on the iPhone 12 Pro Max to f/1.8 on the 13 Pro Max. I remember this was considered a massive upgrade for the ultrawide lense at the time. But now the ultrawide on the 14 Pro Max is jumping back up to f/2.2. What are the implications of this? Is it possible that the old ultrawide in the 13 Pro Max might be better in a lot of situations? The ultrawide is my favorite lense.
I think that is because of bigger sensor..so f2.2 is not necessary downgrade compared to f1.8 on smaller sensor...that's only a theory, maybe I'm wrong...

The way cameras work, to keep the f/1.8 they would need a whole new lens and sensor system. Because of the sensor improvements and the new software, low light will still be better at f/2.2 on the 14 when compared to the 13.
@@lilapple I'm shure that lens on 14 f/2.2 is bigger than on 13 f/1.8, but sensor is also bigger...so that f/2.2 glass technically give more light on sensor than current one on 13 pro...
It still gathers more light because it is a significantly larger sensor (1/2.55>1/3.6). Plus, the larger pixels should help significantly with dynamic range which was arguably the biggest weakness.
I have the iPhone X and was waiting eagerly for iPhone 14 release buuut it didn't 'wow' me! now I'm starting to wonder if I should just get my hands on 13 pro instead and save my $$$

Sitting on the fence. My 13 pro max is still good like new and is working perfectly well camera wise and functions. The changes here doesn't really wow me except for the new purple color looks pretty. Lol

I’ve had an iPhone X since August 2018. This is the first time I’ve been tempted to upgrade.
As cool as these upgrades are, I’m honestly happy sticking with my iPhone 11 for another year. There are several upgrades that I would really love to have, but considering my current phone works so well and I’m still getting a lot out of the cameras, it’s very hard to justify spending over $1000CAD after selling my older device. Maybe next year though!
Well deepening on what carrier you have, you might get a really good trade-in deal depending on the condition of your 11

The 11 still a really good phone what did they change from lightning to USB port then it'd be worth an upgrade maybe next year 11 takes great pictures it's only when you compare them to the 14 pro does it seem like it needs work but besides that it's a great phone I wouldn't upgrade

I'll stay with my iphone12pm until the 16 comes out. Brighter screen is essential; I cannot see the screen when taking photos in Bright sunlight. But we'll done Apple.
