Glad you finally got to experience the Oogie Boogie Bash! The Villains Grove trail is pretty amazing, even without the treats and actual villains. The lighting, special effects and nod to Disney villains is beautiful , and absolutely stunning!
We use it mainly for low queue times for rides, then after we hit up all the rides we do the treat trails after, we found the trails had hardly any lines towards the last few hours of the night. Trails at the start of the event are overrun.
Thank you for reminding us you don’t work for them you work for us 😉 we come to see you cause your honest and give us always the detailes on what is expected 🔥
I cant believe you skipped Villains Grove😳! Its our favorite part of Oogie Boogie. Its magical. All Disney events are crowded. DCA is a small park too.
We did Oogie boogie last year and Mickeys not so scary this year and we felt Mickeys not so scary was missing something, We enjoyed having the characters in the lines as well as the extra snack items from the lines. We got to enjoy the rare characters after spending 15 minutes compared to waiting hours to see the main rare characters at Mickeys not so scary. You can definitely waste alot more time at Mickeys doing the character meet and greets compared to the treat trails at Oogie Boogie
villain’s grove is an experience. it’s different from what we are used to at the parties and that’s what makes it special. wrightdownmainstreet criticized the concept, too. it’s cool, unique, and showcases the amazing effects team and their talents.
They have nothing like Villains Grove at the other parks. It is my absolute favorite part of the OOB. You really missed something! It such a great spooky experience. Without that, I can undertand why your evening felt flat
I’m sad you guys decided to pass on Villains Grove as it’s the one thing I wish I could see from Oogie Boogie Bash. I’ve only heard good things about the ambiance, theming, and special effects. Sounds like Disney magic at its best and you would have done a great job filming it. Seems like you really have to pick and choose what you do and it would be hard to make the most of your time getting stuck in so many lines. I love your videos because you do such a great job of taking us with you. Thank you for sharing your night with us :-)
As long as you don’t care about riding rides (which you can do during the three hours before the party) you have plenty of time to see everything. You just have to time it right. Go to villain’s grove during the first parade and the line is short. And it’s easy to get a spot for the second parade. I went through every single character treat trail, some a couple times. Got some photo ops and had time for snacks. The longest line I waited in was maybe 15 minutes. Most were more like 5.
Just a tip…Since you were staying at the Grand Californian, you could have gotten your tickets at the front desk. They don’t tell you that but last year we inquired and they hold a certain amount of tickets per resort for guests. My husband line up at 5am the morning of the the day that we would attend the event. They opened the selling of the tickets at 6am and we purchase ours that way.
What specifically do you think they could add to meet your expectations? The queues could be made shorter with additional features, but what would draw you while maintaining the Disney theme? Do you think they should do double days? Like events themed to a younger crowd morning, and an older crowd theme evening? Or something like that...curious to hear a Disney expert's thought on that. I LOVE your candid remarks always. You're the best, Dev. 🙌🏽
Dev you are a legend bro for your honesty about the bash some people might not like but most people lovevyour honesty that is y i think you are such a great honest guy don't ever change bro thanks love all your videos
In 2022, I waited 9 hours in a virtual queue to buy OBB tickets at a price of $179 per ticket for a family of five. We did get a ton of candy/treats, took advantage of shorter ride wait times, but the entire experience felt rushed. My family also waited 45 minutes to get into Villains Grove only to be disappointed that we didn’t see any villains or treats. My entire family agreed that the event was not worth the price or the effort unless the format of the event changes.
I was an annual pass member for 8 years & those were some on the best years with my daughter. We go to the party every year. The quality has gone down greatly. Mickeys party in Disneyland years ago had lines to but they weren’t as bad. It felt like an actual party. The park wasn’t overly crowded & we were able to meet all the characters. The candy had a lot of variety. We went last year & we were so displeased. I’ve been about done with Disneyland for awhile now. This is the first time in 8 years we didn’t go, didn’t even attempt to buy tickets. We started to enjoy universal a lot more. We might be Disney people again someday if Disneyland goes back to what it use to be. We did have the key pass for some time but it wasn’t worth it.
Thank you, for your truly honest review of your Oogue Boogie experience. Remember one of Disney’s mottos is”Hurry-up & Wait”! Have fun at your next Not So Scary event. 😎🌴👻
Disney has the power to limit the amount of people per night but they'd prefer to ruin the experience of those that paid so much for these special events
As always, love the complete honesty! A lot of content creators try to always be positive to try and keep on the good side however that does not help the people that watch to gain information.
Anyone remember when they had a Halloween party at DCA before they moved it to Disneyland in 2010. It was only 25$ for AP members! Those days are long gone😢
Oh I do!!! I fell in love with the event when it first started at dca. The decorations and just how small it was. I wasn't a fan when it moved over to Disneyland. Felt to big and everything was so spaced apart. I couldn't see everything. I was happy when they moved it back to dca but I wish they would stop overselling it. 🧡🎃🧡
I prefer the villains in the treat trail, makes trick or treating way more fun. And I’m not waiting 2 hours to see any character. The only thing I agree with on this review is the price and boo to you is better. But this parade is fun. You seemed so excited in the video, so I was surprised you hated it. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your CA trip.
Thanks for being honest, that’s what makes your channel great. My wife and I went to OBB last year and we completely agree with you. It was our first time at the event and we did not feel like waiting in 30 minute lines for candy, and felt villains grove wasnt worth the hour we waited for it. We left the night without any candy! We wont be back, but we enjoyed the short lines for rides!
There’s a balance that is hard to find to please both sides. As a native to SoCal and having attended many special ticketed events at Disneyland/DCA. I have had my fair share of attending these events only to be extremely disappointed because they only had character meet and greets that were hours long. And you literally can only do 1 maybe 2 characters at most out of the dozens they offer. So I prefer the lines that keep moving, but I also hate when they rush you through the line. In the surveys they send out after the event I’ve suggested that they increase the time of the event. So people could meet the characters they want, eat the special food, ride rides, and experience the entertainment. They charge way too much money for these events for how short they are. And on top of that, they still have all the daytime guests who still paid full price tickets just for the park to close early for OBB.
I think Oogie Boogie looks way cooler then not so scary, the villains are so cool, I am dying to go to Oogie Boogies bash one day its so hard to get tickets though.
The trail is very nice even though there are no treats or characters. I wish you would have had an opportunity to experience it. I didn't make it this year but I hope you still had a decent good time.
I experienced the Villains Grove trail and I agree with him. It was not worth the long queue. I felt bamboozled at the end of it. No candy no actual villains. Very cool but was disappointed I wasted about a good 25 minutes in that line, I’ll never get back.
Yes, I was wondering if I should buy it this year, but it doesn't seem good enough for the extra $135. I'd go in August to get that price too, so not even in October
Seems like you had an amazing time. You enjoyed the merch the food, characters, your candy big filled in an hour, you loved the parade, you said you loved the themed rides. We’re spoiled man, we want the characters to kidnap us lol
As a Disney pro; you should know to wait till later in the event to do the BIG stuff. The lines all disappear and theres barely a wait at all. We have done it for years and get bags of candy with no wait; and see the characters multiple times. The only long long line is Villains Grove. Next year just have a relaxing dinner; try some halloween treats. then go see the boogie stuff. MNSSHP and OOGIE Boogie cater to different audiences. You really can't compare the two offerings. Disneyland is a vibe; and not a tourist trap like WDW. Biggest Callout: never wait in a line at disney; it will always go away.
Hey dev and bianca! Yay a magic key holder now?!?!? 🧡 Im sorry you didnt enjoy oogies event. Personally i love it. Ive been when it was mickeys halloween party @dca to when they switched it to disneyland and finally back to dca with the new oogie theme. Unfortunately going in September its always more crowded. I go later in oct and its perfect with crowds and wait times for characters and rides. As for villians Grove, this is truly a beautiful experience. I feel either people love it or dont. No matter how long the line is, it moves fairly quickly. The ambience and lighting showcases each villian/era. If you ever give it a chance again, def try for a October date🎃🧡 hugs to you and Bianca!!
Great video! Good to know the differences between Oogie Boogie Bash and Mickey’s Not So Scary. The character interactions looked fantastic. Thanks for sharing
I might he jumping the gun, but we will be going in a few weeks. Just by watching a few videos of the event, I’m second thinking the purchase of the tickets. There is nothing really that’s looks promising to look forward to, besides the parade, even that with it looking like a very short parade.
I have experienced boogie boogie bash twice. And my highlight was the villains Grove and being able to ride the rides. When the park is close to only event ticket holder was nice..
Missing villains grove was (apologies) a mistake. It's eerie, beautiful and completely unlike any other experience in any park. It's so perfect that actual villains would reduce it's impact.
I attended OBB all the way from the UK and I agree with everything you mentioned. I feel like considering how much the event cost, I barley got to experience anything because of the intense queues. I enjoyed the parade but I had to get a spot early after noticing how long others started to get theirs for the first show. By that time there was only 20 mins of the event left. Met 5 characters, 2 marvel ones that weren't party exclusive. watched the parade
Dev! The Villians Grove is my wife and I's favorite part of the whole oogie boogie! It's very experiencal & artistic. I think it offers a super immersive quality and I think y'all missed out! I had to say it because if you go back you should absolutely do the grove!
yeah I agree, separate the treat stops from the meet and greets. I mean I care zero about candy so I don't want to waste any time in the treat lines when I could be in a meet and greet line. However Dev, Villains Grove is pretty cool
I absolutely agree with Everything you said 100%. It was our first time too and i could not have been more disappointed. So not worth the time or the money. 😔
Last year we had a cast member get in our faces YELLING to keep the line moving for Ernesto when literally we were the only ones in the line because it had died down so we took our time talking to him. So wild.
We went to OBB 2 weeks ago, and I was disappointed 😢. The candy we got seamed to be moist. The color to the m&m were coming off. First time doing the OBB and yes it was frustrating to be on a queue to buy tickets. I got lucky and 3 hours later i got my tickets. I enjoyed OBB because i am a Disney fan. However, i won't do OBB again. We are Texas residents, but we love going to. Not so scary holloween!! We missed it this year but we will be there next year!! Thanks for your in put, Dev. We love you and Bianca!!
I am so sad that I missed an oppertunity to meet you and your lovely family! I love to watch your adventures at any park. thank you for all your content you put out.
Not so scary is a complete clusterf$$k !! honestly!!! It’s like they oversell tickets to maximize profits which is cool but it’s a mostly terrible experience for the guest with terribly long lines for everything. They should charge more and actually make it more like a VIP experience with not so many people.
If you go in Sept it's not so bad! Got on every ride I wanted to within 25mins... even Tron cue was only 30... and my treat bag was overflowing from only 3 stops... and right in front for the shows & parade.. at the castle!!! Guess I got lucky... had an amazing time!!
Villains Grove is worth the trouble, the darker it got, the more Halloween vibe it got for me, I went last year, and I live in the state and the stress of buying tickets alone cured me of wanting to go again, ever so bragging rights is enough for me. Villains Grove needs to be expanded for sure
Oogie Boogie Bash is by far, my favorite thing that Disneyland Resort does! It's like anything new though ... takes a few times to master! I have been a few times every year ... you learn what to skip, what you love and how to work the system! Take a break and give it another try! We'll meet ya there and show ya how it's done! 😆
I’ve been going every year since 2011 and I hate oogie Boogie compared to when it was at Disneyland. 😢 but I love dressing up with my family and my kids love it. So we will keep doing it.
Villains grove is beautiful! But yes while the line moves quickly it is a wait, and my kids were disappointed there was no candy and no villians! We go for the short ride lines!
Maybe some day a 3rd equivalent size Disney park would be added in a different state. The reason being is that both current parks in California & Florida are so crowded. They need another location just for the overflow of visitors. Apparently the new news rather true or not Disney news say they plan on investing 60 Billion company wide. So it wouldn't hurt to have another park
You worded it exactly how I felt last year when I went to OBB. It was fun but not worth the cost and so many dang lines.... i feel like they oversold the party or CA Adventure is too small for the crowds. I did meet Sanderson sisters, but i waited 2 hours before party started near their line area and met them the first 30 mins of the party, that was worth it, they were amazing!!!! But it was just meh. I cant wait to plan a trip to Orlando and experience MNSSHP!!!!!!!
Villians Grove is amazing if you take the time to watch the animation going on around you. Highly suggest leaving it until the end and the lines aren't as long. Almost every Character treat trail has about 4 stops for candy/treats, always bring a big bag or a backpack to dump your candy in. Almost always interaction with the characters. The longest lines that don't really move are the ones with no treats but you get to stand next to the character for photo op. That's where ya lost me, I'd rather be collecting candy in line and keep moving than get a pic with a character.
We went on 9-12 and we thought the same as you. 5 hrs in a queue to buy tix. We had a great time, saw what we wanted to see. Just lines were insane, did not care for villains grove. They need to come up with a better way to sell these tix. Hotel quest should be able to purchase tix with their hotel package in the Disney bubble
I am Bummed you did not go to Villians Grove. That is actually the highlight of the Oogie Boogie Bash. I look forward to it every year. Yes their are no characters and no trick or treating but believe it or not that would be a distraction from how truly magica it is.
I got stupid lucky with tickets, I logged in 8 minutes before the tickets went on sale, I was on the waiting to go into the que screen, 2 minutes after the start I wasn't put into the que yet so I took a chance, hit the back button, tried re-entering the que and it pushed me straight through to selecting and paying for the tickets.
Yes Carrots! I ate the carrots last year with my chili cone queso. The carrots represent a healthy snack other that candy. We will be going both Mickey's not so Scary and OOgie Boogie.
Whilst I do like your vlog style content, if you’re going to offer a critique/review of something - I would suggest making a more structured video.. The only thing I really learned from this vid is that you experience a lot of waiting (which is expected at any Disney park). This wasn’t informative in the slightest Dev
This is one of the most overrated “night” events Disney can have. A major cash grab from Disney just to have people pay more to get mini bags of candy. The treat trails are ridiculously long, awkward “villains” talking non sense , and people just walking in/out recording with their phones. Since day 1 I had my doubts never was interested. Tried it one day just to see the hype. First and last for me. I prefer any normal night at the parks than this mess.
It's disappointing to hear that cast members were discouraging guests from doing Villain's grove. From the videos I have seen it is so worth going. If I ever get the chance to go to Oogie Boogie, that is my priority to see.
I got to go to Mickey's not so scary Halloween a couple years ago. I absolutely loved it. I was very selective with what I did. The parade, the castle show twice. About 6 rides especially the Haunted House, food and drinks, maybe 3 candy stops, but not a single character meet up, which I don't understand why adults would need to do that. Plus, you see all of them at the parade. My only wish for the Disneyland event is how they redo the Haunted Mansion. Do they have that available during the day?
I did MNSS this year and the night we did it i think we got some what lucky, maybe a quieter night but going to magic kingdom some nights later crowd management for the early entry for the event was dreadful! Found the same going to magic kingdom fireworks one night, it seems disney isnt putting as much of a limit on numbers. Obviously theme parks will always be busy but it got to the point where it didnt feel safe anymore and surely it effects every guests experience for the worst if theyre cramming in that many of us
Feel like Disney is definitely overselling on these events as well as the keys. Used to feel like you got what you paid for to be a pass/key holder. Parks are definitely over crowded especially for an extra cost private event such as oogie boogie bash and sweethearts night.
Dang Villains Grove is one of the best things Disney has done in recent memory. It’s absolutely incredible. Too bad you missed it. Probably the only reason worth going to OBB.
We went in mid October last year and the lines were not long at all. We had an amazing time. Maybe they are overselling this event. We did MNSSHP last month. We like them both.
I also went to Oogie Boogie this year for the first time. I was a bit disappointed. I spent almost 3 hours just to meet all 3 of the Kingdom Heart Characters because Mickey, Donald, and Goofy did not meet all at once. Luckily I was able to meet Minnie Daisy and Clarabelle but I waited for about 30 minutes. I was not able to meet Lotso or Bruno because of how the Kingdom Hearts characters' meet and greet was organized. I did go to some of the treat trails near the end of the event which luckily had short wait times. I did enjoy this event but I would not do this again. Also I never been to Mickey's Not So Scary in WDW so I can't really compare the two.
I wish you would have gone thru villains grove, it is so awesome, also that must have been a busy night, are wait times have usually just have been about 10 minutes, also you can stop and just back out of line a little to see the characters better, but i really enjoy your videos and glad your vaca was still fun
We are headed this weekend. Been watching other vlogs of disappointments. I wonder what happened to the villain's water show? Gosh, I'm already having horrible feelings! Will keep you updated!
I’m doing the same as a former CM I am very disappointed to see how dull this year’s event has turned out to be. This is my first year going as a guest after seeing so many people enjoy the first couple of years. I was so stressed trying to get these for my friends and while I was at work. I actually almost missed my turn cause I couldn’t get my card to work, and Disney always gives issues with my regular credit union. Now I’m sad to say I hope I don’t think it was worth the time and money. Plus I miss the Villain World of Color too. I’m over the Disney 100 one. Hope my DCA bestie likes her bday present tomorrow night, but I for one likes the 1st one I went to as a CM.
Dev I feel like had you just reached out to one of the California RUclipsrs before you went to Boogie Boogie you would have had such a better experience! I'm sure you've already heard from other comments that villains Grove doesn't have villains - it's not about that Dev, but it's not supposed to be about that duuuuuude 😅 it's a pathway full of super special effects, amazing lighting, gorgeous set pieces awesome electronic music that adds to the ambient atmosphere. David from Fresh Baked adores villains Grove as do I and tells you to rope drop it the moment it gets dark. Ordinary adventures this year and magic journeys all CA RUclipsrs just loved village Grove this year saying it just gets better year after. So I felt badly for you guys when I watched your video because I guess you're under the impression that were supposed to be villains there at the Grove, but ironically it's always been the only place that there aren't any actual villains!! Not only do I wish that you'd known that before you went-but I found it a little bit frustrating that you criticized this part a oogie boogie without even having experienced it!! How do you throw shade at something you didn't even try?? My family has been to oogie Boogie twice and I'll tell you my favorite part is always villains Grove. Also I don't believe you have to wait in the treat trails, my wife and I are going without kids this year and we don't plan on collecting candy. And lastly my friend I wish you had looked up on Disney food blog before you and your lovely wife went to get a list of all the exclusive treats at oogie Boogie, I just went to the site and scroll down to the 7th exclusive food item and stopped to come back and finish my comment because you said there weren't very many and I know there's more than seven I think there's like 12!! I know you're not going to give it another shot but my wife and I will be there in a few days and I wish you could join us ✌🏼❤️😎
We went to OBB and had a great time. We got there at 3 and had to wait 30 minutes to get in, but other than that, no waits for treat trails and walk on on most rides. I also waited on queue for 8 hrs to get tix. I'm glad we went but I would not go again. It's not worth the price.
You were disappointed because you missed the key experience of the whole night. You skipped Villains Grove! Lol that’s the big grab of Oogie Boogie Bash! You did all the things other vloggers say do last.
Glad you finally got to experience the Oogie Boogie Bash! The Villains Grove trail is pretty amazing, even without the treats and actual villains. The lighting, special effects and nod to Disney villains is beautiful , and absolutely stunning!
I agree! It was actually my favorite part of Oogie Boogie bash when I went.
Villians Grove is one of my favorite experiences in all of Disney Parks! Not a complete review of OBB without it.
We use it mainly for low queue times for rides, then after we hit up all the rides we do the treat trails after, we found the trails had hardly any lines towards the last few hours of the night. Trails at the start of the event are overrun.
Same! Last year, I did not wait in queues much at all. We just walked thru all the character trick a treat that includes the man itself Oggie Boogie.
Exactly you got to know the flow of the party.
Apples, carrots, sun chips....effin' California 😂😂😂
Thank you for reminding us you don’t work for them you work for us 😉 we come to see you cause your honest and give us always the detailes on what is expected 🔥

YOU SKIPPED VILLAIN’S GROVE?!!!! NOOOOO!!
They have nothing like Villains Grove at the other parks. It is my absolute favorite part of the OOB. You really missed something! It such a great spooky experience. Without that, I can undertand why your evening felt flat
Huge mistake not going into Villains Grove. Beautiful immersive experience. Much more than lights & sounds.

Five nights at Freddy's movie
none of the hotels are doing this for the 2023 year unfortunately 😭
First world problems...boo hoo
not this year. it was a complete sell out - none are available at the hotel directly.
What specifically do you think they could add to meet your expectations? The queues could be made shorter with additional features, but what would draw you while maintaining the Disney theme? I went to both events this year, and I think OBB was better than not so scary, plus you can’t beat California’s weather

I am so sorry you experienced a long wait. I always make the trail my last stop and just walk right in.
so glad you did go ...to do a honest comparison.... ive seen others that just go goofy and you always up front and honest .... thank you
Never been to Oogie Boogie Bash but after watching this, I'm not sure I'm interested 🫤. What a bummer.
Your honesty about your experiences is refreshing, and may save many people from going through the same things.
Yes, I was wondering if I should buy it this year, but it doesn't seem good enough for the extra $135. I'd go in August to get that price too, so not even in October
We love love Mickeys not so scary! Tons and tons of candy and lots of rides!
$189/pp for a special event ticket is absolute madness
Especially for such a short amount of time
I remember spending 79$ back in 2019 for the Florida Halloween special event. Crazy it cost more than twice as much. Glad I went when I did
I paid $140 to go in September
Love the oogie boogie merch! That spirit jersey looks nice 👍🏼
Good morning Dev happy Wednesday morning and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
I might he jumping the gun, but we will be going in a few weeks.
I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HONESTY ✌️👍👏 thank youuuu
Ok the villain meet and greets are really cool though! So many characters you don't normally see!
Thank you for being honest and not sugar coat it. 👌🏼
Wish Disney world would have more rare character meet n greets
Villains grove was amazing in 2019
Thanks for the recap you should have walked through the grove I’m sure you would have liked it the lighting and the overall experience is great.
yeah I agree, separate the treat stops from the meet and greets.
Thanks for sharing your experience sledgehammered that like button sharing out full watch u are awesome and a inspiration to us
Mickeys not so scary also has tons of lines.
Same with Universal Orlando and Halloween 👻 Horror Nights…on a Sunday too 🙄. It’s crazy this year everywhere 🤦♀️!
Not so scary is a complete clusterf$$k !! honestly!!! It’s like they oversell tickets to maximize profits which is cool but it’s a mostly terrible experience for the guest with terribly long lines for everything. They should charge more and actually make it more like a VIP experience with not so many people.
I felt the same at Mickeys not so scary, the lines were insane!
Mickey not so scary is too over crowed!! Been to it 4 times and I feel like there is longer lines in Florida
Well I had a blast it was cool to see the villains!
I wish that Dr. Facilier will return at Oogie Boogie Bash in 2025
Thanks for the Halloween fun buddy! :)
Everybody wants to go to Disney. Crowns can be overwhelming. Hope yall can have a good time next time.
I’ve been going every year since 2011 and I hate oogie Boogie compared to when it was at Disneyland. 😢 but I love dressing up with my family and my kids love it. So we will keep doing it.
Thank you for your honesty! I love your videos!
Dev i have to what an outstanding video bro and safe travels home pal
Honest review I appreciate it
Thanks for the honest review. I agree it basically just looks like a meet and greet event with a parade.
I really want to go to Boggie Bash. You guys should have gone into the villans grove. It's super cool.
Dev, appreciate you keeping it 💯!!!
My notifications always get messed up so just got it set back to all!
I agree, mad about SOLD OUT first day
I was waiting for this video 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 your the most honest theme parks vlogger you never sugarcoat things
I absolutely agree with everything you said! It’s spot on!
I’m still shocked you skipped Villains Grove!
I know you're not going to give it another shot but my wife and I will be there in a few days and I wish you could join us ✌🏼❤️😎
I so agree. One and done for us 2.
Happy Tuesday! Look like y’all are having a lot of fun. Thanks so much for sharing! ❤
Villains Grove is prob the best part of that event. I think it’s something worth waiting for. But, I totally understand why you opted not to.
We went to OBB and had a great time. We got there at 3 and had to wait 30 minutes to get in, but other than that, no waits for treat trails and walk on on most rides. I also waited on queue for 8 hrs to get tix. I'm glad we went but I would not go again. It's not worth the price.
Appreciate this look at Oogie Boogie since I can’t make it. CA gives more “healthy” treats than MNSSHP
Im with you on this one.
You were disappointed because you missed the key experience of the whole night. You skipped Villains Grove! Lol that’s the big grab of Oogie Boogie Bash! You did all the things other vloggers say do last.
Thank you for sharing your opinion.
