The problem is if someone's not claiming it doesn't mean they are well off. Pensioners on benefits could be on the same level of income of a pensioner not on benefits but only the pensioner on benefits is eligible. That is why the cut off should be based on a yearly income level not purely on pensioners on benefits.

The state pension is not a benefit, it was warned and paid for whist working. Pension credit us a benefit because the state pension is woefully low otherwise many pensioners were not able to create their own private pension in time. But not all pensioners who have serious health problems are suffering from dementia either. I certainly am not despite my age and having several health problems going into double figures, several of them serious. Pensioners will have worked most of their lives so to see Labour taking the mickey out of pensioners is scandalous. My health problems make me feel the cold more than others. The globalists object to anyone being given benefits. But as I remind you we paid for our pension whilst working so it is not a freebie. As a pensioner, I don't claim and never have claimed anything, not even unemployment benefit, so that's me down the tubes.
If you're eligible for it Lee you should apply - this is targeted at the pensioners who can afford it and to stop them being a drain on the countries finances with free handouts. Those who need the help will still get it, exactly as the system should be.

The problem is if someone's not claiming it doesn't mean they are well off. Pensioners on benefits could be on the same level of income of a pensioner not on benefits but only the pensioner on benefits is eligible. That is why the cut off should be based on a yearly income level not purely on pensioners on benefits.

I retired 8yrs ago at the age of 69, and my work pension is not great plus the Govt old age pension takes me slightly over the limit to receive any additional benefit. I am so thankful for the 'Winter Fuel Payment' but dread the thought of this being removed! Not every pensioner especially those who have been single all their life is wealthy!

The per capita emmisions of someone in the uk is 5.6 tonnes co2 equivalent.
In india its less than 2. so india isnt your problem.

But as you point out, we don't make things any more, china does. If we want to make these things, our emissions will go up, and youll also complain that everything is more expensive.
But on a per capita basis, the US is a much bigger polluter, so perhaps you should aim your anger at them.
What are you proposing should be done more slowly? when affordable? wind energy is cheaper than gas. solar is cheaper than gas. insulation is cheaper than burning more fuel to keep your house warm.

The state pension is not a benefit, it was warned and paid for whist working. Pension credit us a benefit because the state pension is woefully low otherwise many pensioners were not able to create their own private pension in time. But not all pensioners who have serious health problems are suffering from dementia either. I certainly am not despite my age and having several health problems going into double figures, several of them serious. Pensioners will have worked most of their lives so to see Labour taking the mickey out of pensioners is scandalous. My health problems make me feel the cold more than others. The globalists object to anyone being given benefits. But as I remind you we paid for our pension whilst working so it is not a freebie. MPs will get good pensions when they retire but they should not be able to. They would have had enough money to get a private pension going.
And the illegal immigrants I've seen online are spitting in our faces..
