I chose this over the bobovr S3 Pro because of the flip up visor design but it is so much more than that. It is extremely comfortable and the battery lasts a long time.
I must have purchased 6 didn't headstraps for my Quest 3 looking for the best comfort. It was no contest for me... the KKCOBVR Q3 Pro was the winner. I also purchased many different facial interfaces including having one custom made for my face. And what did I choose for the KKCOBVR? I chose no facial interface. Maybe it's because I have a 59 IPD so I really like the lenses super close to my eyes... but no facial interface is now my preference. Can't get any more comfortable than that. With the interface so close, I find there isn't much issue with outside light and I definitely get the best FOV without an interface.
I have this. It was a worthwhile upgrade. My only issue is that it can take a bit of time to really dial in the comfort or to figure out how to really dial it in. Once it's dialed in, it can almost feel imperceptible, except for your head feeling heavier; there's no pressure. I get the halo ring settled at a point on my head where it's not pinching, then tighten the back until it's snug enough to not wiggle side-to-side. Then, I secure the top strap, tightening it just enough that it doesn't pull the back of the headstrap up. Then I position the headset with the slider knobs all the way open and tighten them back until the facial interface just barely presses against my face and takes a small amount of pressure away from the halo band. Then secure the headset strap, again not tight enough to lift it any, just hang where it is. Then, when I take it off, I just loosen the halo strap from the back, tilt the headset up, and lift it off. When I put it back on, all I have to do is let the headset rest solely by the top strap, then tighten the halo band, and lower the headset, and it's spot-on every time.
This is a great write up for adjusting the strap 👍 Some of these head straps are pretty complex in design with all of the adjustment straps and dials, but I find they're usually more comfortable as you can really fine tune everything. These straps might not be as great for sharing the headset though since there's so much to adjust 😅 For a single user though, they're great and super comfy!
I think the newest bobo vr s3 is a much better strap and has a built in forehead fan which is super useful. Doesnt seem at first but once you get sweatin flip on the fan 100% n makes quite a difference. No more sweat dripping on your face when stressing out in ghost of tabor or any fast paced games/workouts. Also super sturdy better build than previous m2/m3 versions and has the 10000 mah removable battery. Definitely worth the money n still cheaper than metas garbage straps. This one looks ok to compete with bobo but still think thiers is better doesnt need any extra top straps either. But can add if your truly want to since would just velcro under top n back pads which all are swappable too.
The only headstrap that does not wiggle and never did was the BOBOVR Quest 2 Headtstrap. The Quest 3 version was an IMMENSE downgrade. The Q2 version had "stiffer plastic" on the sides and the back, really locking the headset in place properly. It is a miracle to me that no other brand has ever tried copying that... it was awesome.
@@ThisKory I heard there is an adapter to use the Q2 strap with the Q3, but I haven't tried it yet. I regret having sold my Q2 with the Q2 strap... Really hope that it is still available in the "old quality". Sure, it was a bit less lightweight than the newer ones, but I gladly have a little bit more weight on my head instead of wiggling, right? Anyways, thanks for the interesting review of this strap!
The bobo vr s3 the actual real newer one with built in fan is much much more sturdy and nicer than the 1st q2 version they upgraded. So if you bought the real one which is the s3 that was actually designed for the q3 its far superior even ghen this one. The other was just a quick upgrade solution from q2 until the real one s3 was ready for q3 because they had hid the release date until very last min so 3rd party straps couldn't fully plan for new one in attempt to mske people buy metas terrible and overpriced ones. Yes the bobo s3 is More expensive than the previous m2/m3 versions, but it is far better quality and well worth it an still cheaper then the trashy meta brands. Not just a better battery too but all around sturdy n better build quality
@@n8dawg727 So just that I understand you right: The "Q3 strap with fan" is sturdier than the Q2 strap? If that is so, what a wonderful surprise. But I am having trouble believing that, because the "fanless Q3 strap" was marketed as "lightweight build" (whereas the good quality of the Q2 strap was denounced as "heavy"), which was marketingspeak for "we used worse and thinner materials"... And the Q3 strap with the fan looks identical, and has the identical description when it comes to the materials. Are you SURE it is actually sturdier than the Q2 one? I am especially talking about the "black plastic parts", the 2 bent ones on top, and the 2 parts that go into the back part to adjust fitting. In the Q2 version those did not, or hardly bend. In the Q3 version I can easily deform both with only one finger. Is that truly different for the strap with fan, or do we have different standards of "sturdy"?^^
@@Eightfinger it is much much sturdier and thicker nicer feeling plastic. The others were just quick solutions until that one was finished and released which is why it didn't pop up until like 4-6 months after q3 released because they were constantly sold out of the cheap ones for months n months. It took me a month or more to find the q2 upgrade kit/pack to just get out of the basic strap it came with cause we all know those are god awful. Back then there were 0 good q3 straps. Meta didn't release specs until after released and even a release date itself was hidden until less than a month before q3 launched. But yes the explanation is a little confusing but if you look up the strap reviews from a year ago when it launched you'll see what I mean. Everyone was having trouble finding good straps for months. Also yes I'm sure because I own both q2 and q3 and have both straps sitting right in front of me. You have to buy the s3 not the cheap m3 one those even use to use the old q2 battery packs which suck for q3 because their weaker n only lasted an hr maybe. Mainly cause q2 didn't need as much power. Q3 uses twice the power q2 does n the newer 10000mah batteries last like 3+ hours depending if you use the fan the whole time. They just came out with the battery pack upgrades for m3s only a few months back or so. They were just a quick solution until the real s3 strap n new batteries were ready for sale. Basically a production delay. Look up bobovr s3 reviews and you will see it looks alot nicer and they will say it's much better build quality. I de upgraded my q2 one back to og version once my s3 showed up since was no comparison that the new one was better all around for q3. I'd post photos if I could.
I just got the Bobvr s3pro, have you tried that in comparision to this ? I really like it but i like the idea of the one you showed with wrapping around pad, weight behind ears kind of like glasses for pressure.
I haven't gotten to the S3 Pro yet, but very soon I'll be unboxing it and trying it on for the first time 😁 I'm excited to see what the rave is all about.
@@ThisKory its pretty great imo the fans dont blow through the pad but from the edge of it down and up, i thought that was interesting. Realllly well built like thick plastic making it very solid. Battery similar to this 10k mah seems to hold it better then old 5200mah bats from old model. I just ordered the new AMVR facia interface cause my cushion was getting warn on old one, you should try it to looks really interesting with better adjustment with knobs to adjust distance from face and also looks like thicker plastic. Going to be whipping my head around in games soon haha.
Great idea looks good but the fact there is not much room for 3d printing some snap on headphones to the sides of the headstrap that most of us have from quest 2 days puts me off. Great review though👍
Thank you for the kind words 🙏 Dang, I'm going to need a 3D printer at some point, you all keep reminding me how much 3D printers go hand in hand with VR!
I don't have much money to spend at the moment and I just got the quest 3 at a really solid price, but I'm with the default strap and I don't want to spend on something that I might end up replacing. i have honestly seen a couple of videos and want the bobovr s3 pro but it's quite expensive and I see it has some issues with custom face covers like th amvr and I would like to change the face cover too at some point. please do a video with the s3 and if you can and have several headstraps just do some kind of comparison or tier list anyway appreciate the video. for now, to me this is the current winner for the money, since I don't live in the US and have to import this, and is almost half of the s3 btwIi have read that there is some noise on the battery, but can it be avoided by using it at 75%?
Yeah this head strap is a good price I think. I will have to get back to you on the battery noise. I will try and remember to test it tomorrow and get back to you here. I actually do have the S3 Pro, I just haven't gotten around to reviewing it yet 😅 I have a couple others I need to get out of the way, and then I will jump straight to the S3 Pro - maybe a week or so away. I also plan to bring all of them together in one video to compare them. I will compare all battery and non-battery straps, as well as facial interfaces and their compatibility. It'll be a lot to cover and talk about, but I plan to have this available some time in December.
@@albertonavarro4117 yeah all of the q3 custome face covers kinda suck in general unless doing it the og face smoosh way instead of halo designs cause the way meta designed thier face cover is hard to mimic without fitting issues on like all of them. I just got the plain ole rubber cover to get rid of the cloth rub and the bobo s3 n works perfectly for me. Never had it near rubbing my ears though. But I also have a skinny head for being 34 yrs old so it looks like I'm wearing an oversized helmet 🤣 comfy for me tho and the fan makes a decent difference since it does stop the sweat drip quite a bit
I think this design is quite unique. I haven't seen a head strap with the side dials to extend the headset from your face, I've never seen a head strap with a velcro tie that sits the way this one does, and I've never had a head strap completely cup my forehead entirely with its more narrow design. That being said, all head straps are similar in design by nature of the design itself needing to be housed to your head. You can't deviate too far from the standard design, otherwise you will run into complications with comfort, balance issues, etc.. As an example, all battery head straps must have the battery on the back, otherwise you'd run into balance issues. If all manufacturers are placing the battery on the back, this is for a reason, and not because they're copying one another. However, that's not to say this isn't happening, but I think this head strap is unique enough that I wouldn't consider it a copycat. Sorry for the wall 😅 I couldn't express my thoughts any other way lol.
But you're forgetting the dials haha! 😄 They really do a lot if you want a nice halo style setup, and allow you to really adjust where the VR headset is in front of your face - something not possible with the BOBOVR.
BOBVR is quality this just looks like someone ripped it the battery is same 10k MAH and smaller also has the fan and battery percentage even the case of it is quality and built like a tank
