Bounty Hunter and collector is def first choice, but I would recommend bounty Hunter since it has semi good pay based of mission, 6-80 payout and 0.01-0.7 but it’s unlikely to get 0.7 like extremely rare
PS: you should def get a bolt action, and Hunt 3 star gator and 3 star bison, good payout.
To be clear there is no pay wall. You can get enough gold for roles if you have Patience and do things that pay out gold. I played casually for 1 week and didn’t spend gold and had enough for bounty Hunter and some left over! No need to pay ever!

One thing I don’t ever hear people bring up is to not waste your money on canned goods while you’re out hunting keep the meats that you get from animals because besides tonics they are the best thing for you to use to keep your cores full it may take a moment to cook but unlike canned goods they fill up all three of your cores not just one
Also if you can manage to get your hands on the stew pot for your camp it could also help out getting your cores full as well as giving you golden cores if you take the time to seek the ingredients out

Just a little note about the customization. Just in case nobody knew, there is a melee combat system. This system takes your avatar’s size and build into consideration during most fights. I know this is super obvious, and is probably common sense, but I thought it was interesting. My avatar is Athletic while my friend’s is Obese. I never win a fistfight. Ever.

Boy oh boy! I remember how confused I was when I just started this game 1 year exactly today. It was nothing like the story mode. I was super super confused given it was my first time of ever playing an online game. It was channels like this that made love the game and still play everyday today.

FYI, You dont have to spend gold to change characters appearance. There is an option to spend $400 or so to change appearance instead of using gold bars, but for whatever reason it does not show up right away, you have to wait for a minute for it to pop up.

Multiplayer/Coop:
+ You need to do the first mission first. You have to team up/queue with random players. (steal a horse mission) Can't join friends for that.
+ If you are stuck at the Treasure Chest: You need to pick your POWER first. Then you can go to the steal a horse mission.
+ After that you can press "L" (+E/Q) and add a friend to your party. (has to accept "friend" request first & needs to finish the first mission beforehand too)
+ after adding a friend you need to open a (temporary=free) "posse", where you can deactivate friendly fire
+ within a POSSE you can finally play together missions
(3h of my life down the drain, DEVs really didnt give a damn about that game)
PS: Don't bring a knife to a wolffight.
Man thanks this helped ..My grandson bought me a XBOX and this game ..He has been trying to explain the whole idea of the game and how to play and I am learning, but this video helped ..I was born in 1966 so the last video game I played was Guitar Hero on Playstation ..Learning how to navigate through stuff on the game is what gave me trouble at first ..Ya know what button or trigger to push pull or rotate to get to what I need to get to . 😵💫

I totally get u when I first started playing GTAV it was extremely confusing the way missions worked
I do enjoy the fact that there is a “grunt” period at the beginning of the game. I like to have things to unlock within the game so I have goals and those goals guide my playing.
to rank up the naturalist role quickly you should collect farm animals at emerald ranch there are lots of sheep trapped in pens that are like fish in a barrel
near there going straight north of the H in new hanover is another farm with cows (there's a hole in the fence so park your horse there to stop them escaping)
and for pigs there is a pen at flatneck station between these 3 locations you should get most of the farmland sample set

I just started & this guide is invaluable as a start up. Other than confusion over what it means if someone is basically dancing with emotes in front of you (I shot them, no regrets) & a girl pulling me off my horse and beating me to death I'm really enjoying it

I’m level 38 and level 30 bounty hunter after 3 days of playing online. This 3x bonus is absolutely insane right now for leveling and money. $500-$600 and .94 gold for one legendary bounty. (Once you get it to 5 star difficulty).

I love this game I beat story mode 3 times 3rd time was my masterpiece doing everything I could as arthur in chapter 2. You can get johns pistols dual two of them as arthur and micahs gun too. So much you can do that you don't even know about including glitches with the horses. Now I'm playing online

I got the game when it came out I just really couldn't get into it and for some reason I decided to pick it up again and now I can't put it down but still very confused
I just got PS+ today, and this will be not just my first time playing RDR2 online, but the first time I've ever played any kind of game like this online. I've always just done games that can be played solo, or ones where you can do either/both then just do the solo mode. I love this game so much, I've been playing only RDR2 since I got a PS5, despite having about 10 other games that I have waiting to be played, but I just want to keep playing this. That's why I decided to finally go online since I'm at 92% Total Completion and still want to play more but I'm not finding anymore side or stranger quests. I'm pretty excited and also actually a little bit scared, which is so stupid, lol. I know. 🐴 🤠 🐎🎮

The only problem with the main missions is the matchmaking, had it timeout so often trying to find other players who are doing them
Create a posse and invite everyone and once someone joins start your mission and they will most likely stay and do it with you and if you’re lucky they will stay and do more with you
All I do most of the time in rdo is fishing and poker. No grind.
Just chilling, enjoying the landscapes, and in the end go to play some poker - that's my kind of fun there.

Exactly my thoughts! I loved the story, with 91% completion, and finished the RDO intro, but having seen this video, it seems so similar to GTAO (of which I'm already tired) and looks like a grindfest with generic missions and cutscenes

I made the mistake of buying 25 gold bars to unlock the trader 1st, bc its my personal favorite job to do. I like the idea of making honest money doing honest work lol but you don't need to buy your gold if you have enough patient you can build enough gold within a week to buy one of the roles like I did after getting the trader. Great advice however everyone just starting would be super lucky to find this video but I do disagree with Naturalist being the most boring role. That role is very fun imo its my 2nd favorite job to do but Moonshiner is a close 3rd favorite and the biggest money maker next to collector though I'd argue collector is the most boring role in the game. In my honest opinion though you don't need to blow out on weapons I always just recommend keeping your beginner repeater and just getting a varmint rifle and the bolt action rifle you don't really need anything else other than those other than to just get them just to get them

It is frustrating doing the *Legendary Bounties* though as you finish the mission around 10-20 minutes in so the other 10 you sit outside the deliver circle. 🤷♂️
After a while it gets Hella annoying. But I got an extra $60 on the ember of the east opportunity. Got $309 last time, just by waiting 10-15 minutes 🤣
I remember my very first days in the game…I started day 1 beta, so 4 years ago….oh my lord that was an eye opener….fresh from playing the story, I was hungry for more……it was brutal!…….mega hard grind to earn little money, got shot at constantly……lassoed and dragged across the map…..set on fire and generally abused …….it was hell some days, but stuck with it…absolutely love the game…it’s a shame that any one playing after Frontier pursuits never got the baptism of fire, it’s soooo easy now for players, they have no clue how much they get spoon fed!…….take care pilgrims and ride easy

Bro seriously. I played a lil back in those days. Too much of a grind, I would leave a carcass on the waters edge and collect Hella fish and still hardly any money from it. Plus everyone griefing. Glad to start back into it again all these years later
Came back after quitting Destiny 2 and went from 1-84 in the span of 2 weeks because of halloween call to arms.
If anyone is on ps4 and wants to play I'm always down for more homies.
You can grind Trader very quickly by setting up camp way down south in New Austin, donate a bare minimum of animal material to Cripps, wait a moment and then make a Short delivery of an almost empty wagon, ride thirty seconds and the delivery is done. Doesn't give much money at all, but just as much Trader XP as normal deliveries. Repeat many times for an hour and you'll rank up half the whole ladder. Once you've got both types of wagons (Large delivery + Hunting wagon), the role is actually quite fun and can give lots of money. Cougars give the most material, except for legendary animals.
Moonshine is good money after all the upgrades. I recommend it after you have Collectot, Bounty Hunter, and Trader.
Tip for shooting
Get deadeye and get the duel wield more accuracy and damage and try to rank it up to max for better shooting

Having mastered RDR 1 legend 5 etc. Visited every inch of the map a hundred times over. There is no way after watching this video I'm even gonna try to begin this game as a first timer. As a family man who works 50+ hours a week this game is to complicated for older people. RDR 1 was so simple which made it easy for anyone to play. You have to be an unemployed kid, single, or content creator to have time for these games anymore

change character's appearance cost $400 cash, no gold at all. also, after unlocking bounty hunter, gaining gold and cash is pretty decent if you are into combat ( which i am). i just started playing this gem of a game a week ago cuz the steam's black friday sell.

There aren’t that many cheaters, you can still parley with them anyway. Also the bugs a pretty funny anyways so I don’t mind very much

Combing back to RDO is one those games where you do not have many problems with sure you have players that troll or grief but the chances for that is so low than compared to GTAO by doing a sell in that you end up getting bombed by some guy that thinks he’s the best since he has a 10.2 kd
The easiest method iv found for gold is one of them fancy chests that randomly appear in front of you that definitely wasn't placed there from another player 😅

Do yourself a favor, buy 30 gold from store, either yourself or ask your parent/s, doesn't cost much but save you serious amount of time, choose naturalist first, take samples from alligators and other animals near Saint Denis, when you reach lvl 5 which is after you've sold 100 samples in total if not doing anything else, buy trader right away and do supply missions and hunt legendary animals for mats. Just save yourself the hustle in the beginning or you will probably get bored or burnt out pretty quickly bcs grinding stupid long doing boring stuff isn't what gaming is about, gaming is about being fun, if you do however enjoy it, go for it.

To be extra clear, after u play the main mission activate that damn Multifactor authentication on Rockstar account and you get free gold bars. I Don't understand why no one talks about that :(. I got my bounty hunter right after I finish story missions. Playing casually and waiting for role discounts I unlocked them all.

If you are just starting try and meet other players. RDO players tend to be much more friendly than GTA players and alot are willing to help you.

I agree with the OP, just got the game and was having a laugh with some Finnish guys not taking it seriously. They tied my friend up and ran him over with the train while I failed to lasso him out of the way it was hilarious.
It’s a lot more difficult to grind now when you have to restart your game everytime you encounter other players with them being hackers 9/10 times

I bought this over the weekend and have put a few hours. After I stole the horse I was on my own and dont' see these missions you mentioned. I've just been riding around hitting certain points (people) on the map but so far, as you mention, no guidence or anything to do. I just ride around till my hourse gets tired then log off, lol

@@Voltomess From my knowledge you have to get crips trading co at camp then lvl it up you should get a letter saying BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY and then the moonshine shack cost like 15 gold I think
@saucy the moonshine shack is 25 gold. If you don’t won’t to grind the trader role then buy the role for 5 gold. In total it’s 30 gold

I found totally by accident when i first started playing online.The game gives you $15 to start. I didn't like my character so deleted and chose another. To my surprise i found i then had $30 so deleted character again and then it was $45 so rinsed and repeated. Repetitive but easy to do and if you skip the two intros you can do the character change in about 2mins. Thats $15 for two mins work. I started my game with about $600 in the bank, it helped a lot. Just bear in mind only do this before you start your game or you'll lose ranks etc if you try and change character later on. Like i say it's Repetitive but it works and gives you a good start to the game enough to buy a decent horse and some better weapons and still have some spare cash. Better than hard grafting for a day or so for the same amount. If you've got the patience you could do this all day everyday and start the game with thousands but good luck with your mental health if you do. I couldn't handle doing this for anymore than 90mins or so. 😂

Yep saw it on sale for 9 dollars so I decided to give it a try enjoying it so far just trying to learn everything and traveling long distances without fast travel is a pain in the ass though I never played the red dead series so I expected it to be similar to gta5 but this is an entirely different feel
best advice i could give you all is this game is sooooo amazing and has so many things you can do. Don't grind this game, instead just have fun and enjoy it. Ask any veteran they will tell you to take your time and enjoy the game, racing to the end will just make the game boring and you will eventually just stop playing. You will have plenty of money in due time. Have fun don't rush.
This whole thing sounds grindy and not fun. I wish they had just released some actual DLC, like Undead Nightmare 2, and left the online bs out of it, but of course they're too greedy to do that. We will never get true DLC from a RockStar game again, which is a shame, because they can make some of the best DLC in the business.

I would say the easiest is the bounty hunter role,collector will need some equipment later for high paying potential.

No wonder why players didn't stick around for the online after beating the campaign, online is so confusing there are no explanations for nothing. Either you wander around aimlessly or you manage to find a mission which will probably end badly because you are not properly equipped and the game is not built for matchmaking. I tried to do a mission earlier this week and near the end one of the players quit so the mission just failed...I mean what the hell Rockstar?!

Nothing major. We might get a few discounts, bonuses, snow, maybe re-released content, and a few one-off missions such as telegrams but RDO is not Rockstar's priority. GTA Online will likely get a major update. Most RDO developers are now working on GTA 6
How does it make sense that you make less money the faster you complete missions?
why does bounty hunter pay you more for taking ages? it should be the other way round

just started playing online after a few hundred hours in single player the game still has its charm online im loving the bounty hunter role atm found my new thousand hour game lol
Thought so to. Wait till you max out that role in a day. I do believe every single other role is horrible to grind. I'm doing trader now. My life is horrible for now I hope. Got 35 gold and 11k off legendary bounty's. The triple money for Etta Doyle and waiting in that tunnel and THEN waiting to make sure it's been 30 minutes since taking control of the character. And it's an easy $675 and like 1.44 gold. Decent grind while grinding 200 xp for trader
Edit: and I felt super screwed over to learn you can see the huskies in camp. But you can't get them unless you had a certain outlaw pass. And iv been hearing there won't be any more outlaw passes. What a time to join this community!

I don't see any point in earning money when you can't spend it on anything. In GTAO there's hundreds if not thousands of things you can spend money on but in rdo you can spend money only by buying food or guns 🥴😵💫
You're lying, you can buy horse, carriages, businesses, clothing, you can upgrade your camp and that's not even all the things I listed

Black Friday sales are finally gonna make me get this game. I've been holding off for so long because I still have like 6 other games I haven't finished lmao
one important thing that is not straightforward in rdo, is viewing daily challenges and players (to potentially mute some) in session: on PC you need to press "L", plus, you don't need to travel to post offices to collect your orders you made by pressing "J", you can just go to menu, online, camp, and when it loads to camp, you can go to the item box to collect your collectibles.
another thing is when doing death matches, dead eye somewhat works differently compared to story mode, but it is needed in online, it will do more damage and it will help with the aim.
also keep attention to hunting, rdo$ and xp, these are very important to manage
and be friendly to other rdo players please, leave them alone if they are not hostile with you

In my current experience, it's actually better to start dishonourable. You can get honourable points for feeding and brushing your horse.

you can also server hop until you find an exploiter in valentine and ask them to spawn a chest
On PC you can't play the second two main missions with the sheriffs. No one shows up for the missoins and it times out. This has been reported to Rockstar and they have done nothing for months.

Had the game for a while, just finished the main game 6 chapters and 2 epilogues. Trying the online now.
The problem I have with this game is that the main mission no one plays them and it just loads and it won’t let me start it by myself
