My 09 R3 caught fire from a clogged cat a couple years ago lmao. Fortunately the fire was put out in time. Just the surrounding insulation was damaged. Still driving it today
Racing beat mid pipes are great, but I went with a BHR mid pipe for mine. the resonator is just swirls metal whereas the racing beat has steel wool for sound deadening. The swirled metal in the BHR pipe holds up better over time and does a great job deadening sound
I bought a 1 owner, 9500 mile 2010 R3 in June. Was completely stock. I put the Exoticspeed R1-T catback on almost immediately. Added the racing beat dual resonated midpipe yesterday. Sound is fantastic. No drone. Quiet while cruising, but screams under WOT. car is at 10,400 miles right now.
@@TheSlipAngle is that a trick question 😂 I generally cruise around 4000-4500 rpm so I'm usually not higher than 4th gear when I'm off the interstate. The exhaust is very docile under low load. At 4500 rpm the car pulls hills easy under partial throttle so it's not too loud. WOT is a different story. It's loud but a good loud. Not a lawnmower ebay ricer loud. It's a beautiful sound. No rasp, no drone. Cruising with my wife we can have a normal conversation with the windows down, radio plays at a normal level, it's the best of both worlds. And the Exoticspeed catback is gorgeous. The mufflers sticking out under the bumper is so pretty. Especially on the S1 if you cut out the diamonds in the rear bumper grille. Mine is S2 so it's a solid bumper.
Very nice vid! Super clean car, really digging the header/colors thanks for sharing. I'll trow my vote towards the Tanabe system, more rare, authentic, lighter and yes very nice for DD... but sadly I don't have one... yet. Keep it up!
Just FYI for future references a “bottle neck” can also serve a purpose as a Venturi and can actually speed up gas speed small engine racing experience huge gains from little things like this and there is a science just around flow
Hello from montreal..ive everything from racing beat..header..resonator catha..mid pipe and 2 racing beat muffler..the sound or just amazing and not too much for police catch me....i love it..i recomand it..😁😜😲 and my check engine never came on..
I have a Tanabe Medallion Touring and a resonated midpipe on my FD, which is basically the same engine as your RX-8. I've got a couple of recent videos on my channel if you want to listen to the exhaust. It's nice and quiet during idle, cruising, and highway driving. I still get a good noise in the upper RPM range. The Tanabe Exhaust has a 3" pipe and muffler. The tip is 4" but it is reduced on the inside. I can take a video or some pictures if you want more info about it.
Thanks bud, but the 13B-REW and 13B Renesis are very different engines i.e. Peripheral vs side exist exhaust ports. Plus turbos do a great job of reducing exhaust noise on top of that :)
Yeah, the exhaust porting is quite different but I figured that it'd give you a sense of the noise. It's a single turbo and it's in vacuum during idle and cruising, which doesn't generate the full blown rotary "loudness."
I was using the HKS HiPower when I used to have an Rx-8...light weight and not too extreme with the RB dual resonator! You can figure it out with the only video I have in my channel lol
I will say that is no good at all. I run the hks with a bhr midpipe and saying its loud is almost an understatement. I cant wait to finally install a header on it tho and see how loud it really gets haha
@@nIsMoALEX yeah I know it won't be much louder with normal driving and I can't wait to see what it will be like as I already love my exhaust. I was actually in an exhaust rev off at an event called hyperfest and Vaughn gittin was the host of it and obviously the 2jz Supra drift car hitting 2 step was crowd favorite but he actually told me after the event that I had his vote lol
Oh and one more question. Doesn't the smell bother you after removing catalytic? I'm thinking about removing mine, but I never smelled rotary exhaust without catalytic, and I'm kind of afraid that it will ruin the experience for me. I don't want my interior to have some terrible smell, but I assume some people online might be overdramatic.
I’m considering a Fujitsubo exhaust for my S2. They offer the RM01A which in my roadster, can be loud but really isn’t that bad- and it really cuts down on weigh. They also have the legalistic series which may or may not be heavier than factory. Price is the only down side as they would be a good amount more $$ than the RB cat back. Edit* wow the RB mid pipe really made it sound a lot nicer compared to that Ebay unit. Any reason you skipped the Bhr ones?
I wanted the RB pipe to have maximum sound suppression for a daily driver. I'm sure the BHR will last longer due to it's design, but I don't see how it could provide the same amount of sound suppression as the RB unit. Any muffler should be considered a wear item and will eventually wear down.
Anyone have experience with exhaust wrap on these? I'm considering this same setup with Racing Beat resonator and OEM muffler. I'm hoping to quiet it even further by wrapping the muffler and possibly the mid pipe.
Clean rx8 👍! I bought the one you threw away but it does not seal right it haves a leak what about with that racin beat ?? Did it seal all tha way ?? Thanks
Premix has nothing to do with shooting flames. It's unburnt fuel in the exhaust and yes, just about any catless setup will produce that under certain conditions on the Renesis.
Any chance you’d be willing to ship that mid pipe? My new project is a low budget drift build, picked up a hks hi power used for cheap and was planning to just “gut” the cat but that would be perfect. I’ll gladly pay a little extra on shipping for your trouble.
I'd really prefer not to ship it. You'd probably be better off just buying a brand new one on eBay as they are only a little over 100 bucks shipped on there.
Have you done any cooling mods? Just picked up an RX8 with a rebuilt motor. I just put in an aftermarket aluminum radiator but temps still climb to 200 and above. Cooling fan relay mod will be here today so I’m going that help.
There is something wrong then. I'm still running stock radiator and it doesn't run that hot. Did you bleed coolant correctly when adding in the new rad?
vietfattyxD As far as I know. I jacked up the front end and ran it with the cap off until it didn’t take anymore coolant and wasn’t bubbling and coolant was coming out of the throttle body. I pressure tested the cooling system and that was fine. Could the oil coolers not be cooling efficiently and causing problems also?
I am still running the entire stock cooling system as well with just routine maintenance. Have you changed the thermostat? If so, was it an OEM? Check to see if you cat is clogging. That could potentially cause the engine to run hotter.
Garage Quinn Motors haven’t changed the thermostat yet as I figured that would have been done with the rebuild. It is next in my list though. Also though the cat would be good since it just passed emissions testing but maybe that doesn’t matter?
Yeah you gotta another issue than radiator. Im still completely stock cooling(and will be until I turbo) and have never had any issues with overheating although the secandary fan will almost always stay on for a while after beating on it in the summer. Heat soak was a lot less once I flashed my ecu and out aem intake on tho

In the Netherlands we don't have emission checks for rotaries.
But our roads are boring and congested so I guess it still evens out.
If you have a still running rotary it should just be exempt by default :)

What's the problem when the weight is way down close to the road? It will aid in chassis staying flat when heavy brake is applied.
Also aids in cornering due to lowering the centre of gravity. Reduce weight from top down that's what all race engineers do on all race cars & F1.
I have a megan racing mide pide with a agency power exhaust system and LS7 coil pack conversion kit
The rear part is a silencer in rx's
How you keep it so clean down there?
Steam cleaning
