I've seen her three times in concert. She did a late encore. Most people had left the auditorium. The fire doors would not allow them to re-enter.
I ran down to the front of the stage.
The band returned and most of the audience had left.
I stood, almost touching the stage, as she sang to ME!.
I have met many famous people through a friend in Hollywood.
But seeing and hearing, Sade that close was amazing!.
    That deep gorgeous voice.

She is such a private person. You never hear much about her, except her music. That’s very rare for an artist. Good on her for protecting her own privacy and living the life she wants. She wants to be known only for her music, and so it should be. I think it’s where she can come out and give herself to us and her music. Happy for her. ❤

I remember my dad saying to me years later that I was supposed to pronounce Sade as 'shar-dey'. The whole world pronounced her name wrong for the longest time simply because of one article. We had followed and collected her music. It was years later that I found out the correct pronunciation. This interviewer is driving me crazy and I wonder why they didn't correct her. That is the pronunciation. It is a Yoruba name and it does not adhere to the rules of English. It is short for Folasade meaning honor confers a crown. No H no ay no r but that's how it sounds. This is also my name. It is also not french as a lot of people try to say it is. Marquise de Sade whom I think may be the reason many think sade is or french origin actually is pronounced Sad like the emotion. Etymology is also a passion as I studied English literature and language. Cheers

    • @truquarian

The R is more in reference to it's enunciation in the British tongue. Even common words like "no" and "idea" are often pronounced with an R sound as well - American English just doesn't have that tongue, so we pronounce most words as they are spelled. How and why do people even argue it?

You are very candid in your answers and you deserve your privacy! You pour your heart into your work and the world should not even ask for any more. I really appreciate you gave an interview and you are a Diamond without the rough and a Pearl that keeps on giving! Thank you! And may God continue to bless you!

Mistery woman. Inteligent to mantain us appart from her life without beeing rude. Love her. I will die hearing her songs. All of them. Noone else has it like her. The quietness, melancoly and peace. Let others shout. I prefer her smothness filling my peaceful heart.

Because, she was non white and half black Nigerian born and you know how that works or can work. I believe that was the inference from the British (music) press; it's all they had. She was stunningly beautiful, half "black", and needed to be taken down a notch. However, they failed tremendously.

I throughly enjoyed this excellent interview of Sade because normally you only get bits and pieces of her speaking. Here, you can really feel and see the creative process of how she approaches and makes her music and her very understandable need for privacy to just live her life.
