- Welcome back folks, today I go over a highly requested topic on the channel. A potential remake for Dragon Quest IX which was originally on the Nintendo DS. Many people on the channel grew up with Dragon Quest IX, its no wonder, it did sell over a million copies in the West after all! Today I go over all of the various additions, changes and hurdles required to bring Dragon Quest IX into the current year. Hope you enjoy the video!

I think the best way to have a talk feature in DQ9 would be the personality system being brought back from DQ3, but it's dialogue that it impacts. It's not hard to figure out what a tomboy or sexy character would say in a situation.
Legit u could make the game better but...all what u said maid me go like: IUH HELL NO pls don't make DQ9 Remake to a full XI game pls just let it be the good old but better xD
tbh... id love to see a new DQM Joker game... and im still sad that DQM Joker 2 Pro and DQM Joker 3 never reached the west and never officially was translated to english. the first of its games i played was DQM Joker 1, i was so fond of being able to catch monsters and even synthese the.
Having a hd Dragon Quest available is good, but remaking DQ9 would be a dream come true!
I know DQ9 was my first into the DQ fandom.
I played IX all the time growing up and would adore playing it again now that I'm an adult
Same
Why I haven't played a lot of DQIX
Reasons: Dragon Quest VII, VIII, VI, V, & XI
I still play it on the DS, I go back on from time to time to repeatedly face Corvus for the heck of it haha!
I played it today after bout 8-9 years 😂
@@henryconner3002 v and 8 are the only you could argue are better than 9... 9 has more of a fun Factor than 11 imo, far better than 6 and 7 just in general...
For the love of god, PLEASE NOT ON PHONES.
I agree. NO phones
Lol I don't even have a Switch and kinda poor for it(Nothing I can't handle) but I respect the game enough to say NOT ON THE PHONES
yeah have to agree with you there the game would in my oppinion suffer if it was put on the phones at bare minumum it wouldnt be able to live up to its full potential that it has
@@rahgolthur5152 Yeah, Look at Fantasy Life Online. That was a letdown. they should have just kept it on the 3DS for the time being. putting games like that on a mobile phone will ruin it. They should keep it on the consoles and away from mobile phones.
Here is a thing tho, its already confirmed for a mobile remake AND DQ9 WAS SUPER INFLUENTIAL TO MOBILE PHONE GAMES. I AM NOT KIDDING ON THIS. The P2P/Player to Player Interaction Systems on most Mobile Phone Games like Granblue Fantasy and Fire Emblem Heroes...was first used for DQ9.
I find it literally absurd how it hasn't been remade. Seriously though, the class system in this game is just humongous and the skills, alchemy, armor, weapons, and story (rip greygnarl) are amazing and surpass anything from every other DQ game
The fact that , the last time we have seen the hero of DQ9 is in smash can give us hope . I have like 800 h on my ds on this game , so if a remake is made it would be perfect .
Great video btw
Only 800? After I beat the game and beat the legacy bosses I spent over a year grinding up seeds to max out all of the stats on all four of my main characters and then soloed all legacy bosses at level 99 just for the hell of it
Thank you
@@chibiusa2018 alright hands down you have beaten me x) , mine was like 87 if i have a good memory . The story was fire tho
@@lirko5776 I always felt kind of bad about bodying the final boss his story is so sad
@@chibiusa2018 Corvus i think ? Yeah it was kinda sad but i was si hype , especially for the part with the dragon . I almost cried during the cinematic of his death :(
In terms of story-based party members that take part in cut scenes, I think that was mostly the role that Stella was supposed to fill. I'd say it mostly worked, considering Stella is probably one of my favorite fictional characters period.
That being said, I'd love to see either more story-based party members that can exist along side the main four (instead of taking one of their slots), or general personalities that can be applied during character customization. Having my characters actually have character would be a dream come true for me.
Exactly my thought, "personalities" would be dope; basically just story characters that you can customise. Are there any other RPGs that have a system like that?
Another thing that would be cool but super complex would be walking in on random-occuring conversations between custom companions; but that would be a crazy amount of scripts
Edit: lol, just watched further
@@johnfraire6931 It's funny, actually. I've been playing through Miitopia, and it literally does exactly that, and with ten party members at that.
Well in the postgame there are quests to unlock Patty, Sellma, and Aquila as available party members. These all have their own personalities as part of the story, so they could quite easy just bring those quests forward and allow you to have party members you can speak to. They could even expand who becomes available (I think Sterling would be a good choice).
I agree with all your things to add/improve on DQ9 Chief! Here are mine:
•Voiced dialouge during story bits (even battle cries and chosing voices for your own characters)
•Swap party members during battle (you can bring up to 7 additional including story characters and tavern guests)
•More vocations like Monster Masher/Druid/Merchant/Hero/Pirate (no zap & rubble spells in DQ9)
•Party vs. Party (pvp), Multiple party legacy boss battles on single/multiplayer
•New game+ mode/Hard mode
•Draconian mode (difficulty settings)
•Party chat with your own custom characters (and having their own dialogues or just reactions at story bits)
•Costumes (choose how you look without changing your equipment like in DQ11)
•Premade Treasure maps visiting other DQ games (also like DQ11)
•Minigames in singleplayer/multiplayer
•Mounts
•Dual Wielding & Two Handed skill trees
•Ability to choose your own vocation at the start (or just maybe at new game+)
•Multiple save slots (atleast 2)
Any more? Really hope this remake comes to life!! Thanks for the vid Chief!
Ooh. Custom party members could have (generic) dialogue based off selectable personality types.
Chaos exactly! Choosing from heroic/hotheaded/jokester/scholarly/romantic etc. Maybe it would be different from males/females. That would be a lot of dialogue but its worth it!
And They put all the original charactera from the past games just like radiant mythology and new bosses and new dungeons and new places accessible to starlight express I also like if they put the monster scouting feature just like DQ8
Legacy bosses from 10 and 11 maybe.
@@S.I.L.
The question is, who would be the legacy boss for XI, Mordegon or Calasmos?
The soundtrack on the ds still gives me goosebumps to this day. An orchestral version... Jesus christ, I'd probably just sit there with headphones listening to it and crying with nostalgia.
Imagine being in that orchestra, that's probably why it's taking so long to get a remake 😂
"Alright everyone, from the top, and NO NOSTALGIC CRYING this time!"
@@nobirthday Your comment made my day... 4 years later but thank you ❤
DQ IX was where my journey started, still remember 26th December 2010 Christmas got it for the DS what an experience. I naturally want a Remake for every Dragonquest game if possible :)
I got it for christmas too hah
I just looked at the title of the video and immediately agreed mostly because this was the first dragon quest I ever played and I would like to play I still have my copy in my DS
I love DQIX to death. When I was playing, I was going through a bad bullying phase, and believe it or not: those "puppet companions" helped me a lot emocionally. It was like "you will always have someone by your side. Forever."
I wish I could create them again in HD.
Aha someone is talking about it
Edit: ive been saying we need everything you talked about in the video except the alternate endings, i didnt think of that but that’s actually awesome. Also, we really need a way to pvp. (Maybe add an arena in the observatory)
The only other turn based rpg i can think of with pvp is pokemon so it would be really cool to have more.
DUDE, YEAH. An Arena?!? I would LOVE to have a turn based fighting mode in an RPG that isn't Pokemon where we could ruin friendships and brag about being better at RPGs.
TheSmallRaptor I have been thinking how cool it would be to let players face off against each other with their parties. Might quickly devolve into a boring meta that would skew everyone’s build needs to the unfun, but worth a look at least.
I remember Golden Sun having PvP but I'm not sure
DQ 9 remake would be amazing. Just think of how much customization could be added for your party.
*Coming back to this video years later*
"Why does he keep talking about Animal Crossing so much in this Dragon Quest video?"
"Well you see, son, there was this virus..."
"Wait, how does this relate to Animal Crossing?"
"We get there when we get there!"
I love Dragon Quest 9, it's my 2nd favorite Dragon Quest game.
Coming a VERY close second to Dragon Quest 5
This game deserves the attention games like ff7 remake got
Exactly
It’s better than ff7 tbh
@@robertwolff3580 FF7 is good but it's so damn overrated
@@robertwolff3580 Hence why it deserves it!
Croc: am i a joke to you?
My wishes for the Dq9 remake: Give us new types of weapons. Gives us more possibilities to create our characters.
Some bosses should get their own theme songs.
Give us a new class.
Everything from the original game should appear in the remake.
And most importantly, take your time and do not rush it.
overhaul the quest system. i never want to do "slowly, slowly, critty golem" again.
At least it's not as heavy grinding as 6 or 7 has.
I remember mowing lawns so I could afford a copy for myself and some of my more unfortunate friends. We went through nearly the whole game as a party. While I'm 26 now and most of us don't talk anymore, I'll always cherish the memories we had playing this game.
Loved DQIX, never got to play the extra online content though :( Would love a remake!
You know, if you still play the game, it is still possible to get (a part of) the online content
Mathijs G. Yeah, unfortunately I lost my DS 😂

Yes indeed ;)
HORREY SHITTT!
Also, yes.
I didn't know Geekdom was a fan of Dragon Quest woooo
for me, I’d like some of the classes redone a bit. it feels pretty sucky that post-game, the only viable composition is 3 gladiators and a priest. and giving EVERY BOSS disruptive wave is just annoying and invalidates so many classes with just that. it makes the post game kind of brainless because you don’t have to have any strategy, you just have to hit them hard and have omniheal.
Same and to make up for it I went with only menistrals through 100% of the game it took years
I agree! Lots of balancing and tweaking could be done to each one. Debuffs and some buffs are almost useless postgame. Give armamentalist offensive spells. Make spells do combos too.
Yesss this is the big thing, so many classes were left obsolete because the Gladiator and Priest are all you really need for most fights post-game (Martial Artist and Paladin their uses against high level legacy bosses too tho)
True, like buff thief and minstrel ( although minstrel is good post game because of versatility in later game for example grottos it's useless)
Don’t forget the sage’s twocus pocus multiheal and kazing.
Also wished they gave kaswooshle to Minstrel instead of the Luminary... and some Zap/Sizz/Rubble spells to other ones.
Sheesh, also congrats on your 9000 subs, dood! I can't wait to see it even higher. You really deserve it, imo.
"IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAND!" (I'm sorry)
Rave265 Thanks, appreciate it
Thank you for putting my RUclips comment on your video sackchief. This is one game that I've been very vocal about to get a remake because I never had a chance to play the game on the DS but I realize how popular it is to a lot of us who love the Dragon Quest series as a whole. I would like to believe that it would be a possible project that Square Enix can work on, maybe tinker with the graphics a little bit to allow it to be up to par with the Nintendo Switch and add some new features that weren't included in the original game because of the standards at that time but would be possible today, but obviously Square Enix has been very busy this year with the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the Trials of Mana Remake. In fact, I'm afraid Square Enix has lot of other games on their schedule coming up and that we might not receive a Dragon Quest 9 Remake this year. Let's hope that it will come eventually but we'll have to wait a long while for it to be a reality.
Forgot that Level 5 developed the game but they still had to have Square Enix's support to make the game in the first place. Also to note, Level 5 has a busy schedule as well this year. They're trying to milk their Yo-Kai Watch series as much as they can.
I still have the DQ IX cartridge,. It's one of my favourite titles in the dq series apart from Dq V,. I would hella pre order out of it, if they remake DQ IX on Switch 👏
I hope it gets a remake! My Nintendo DS broke recently and new ones are hard to find for a good price. If SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom can get a remake, than this game can too!
I would buy a Dragon Quest IX Remake faster than I bought that $50 Final Fantasy 12 Demo that came with a free better game in the same box, back on PS2.
it most definetly does! Also congrats on 9k!
I finished my second playthrough 2 days ago.
It was great and very nostalgic because I also played it in my childhood.
I would love to see a remake of it.
And I maybe have a solution for your problems with the soulless party members. Imagine to choose like a few personality options like angry or mad you know something like that.
Plus, you can actually get some of the NPCs of the story in your party postgame;) For that, you need the online content that is still possible to receive
Just restarted my DQIX game in quarantine to relive all the fun! I would love a remake, especially with character personality presets. Your party members could add dialogue to the story depending on what personalities you choose for them!
I dream of the day I can play Dragon Quest IX Definitive Edition on my Switch...
I like the idea of re-introducing the personality system from DQ3r and tying party chat to that.
My personal wish list is the above, the speed up battle feature from DQXI S, and online multiplayer. Basically, everything you mentioned in the video. I think it’d benefit from being made for PC as well as Switch, however, since it can enjoy a longer life in PC versus a console where it’ll end up running into the same problem as it did with the DS.
You said everything I tought needed polish! Really great video man keep it up!
They can't remaster something that was already perfect... but I would greatly appreciate it if it did happen(but not on phones).
I think people who started with 11 when introduced to a 9 remake hypothetically would make them intruigued plus when paired with 11 on switch it could be used as the 'Online' game like with FF14 and 15
6:00 I think it would be cool if you could still customize your characters (with a few more options because some of them look really excessive to me) and to make the game feel less lonely, assign personalities to the characters at the end. Then the characters could react to certain ways depending on what happens in the story in accordance with their personalities. This would take A LOT of work, but if executed properly, or even if it were to go over the top (giving paired personality types certain interactions), it would give the game almost ENDLESS replay-ability.
6:45 I posted the above message without even knowing this part would even be in. I’m glad we’re on the same page lol.
1. Co-op multi-player
2. Lots of extra dungeons and loot (blue chests with friends)
3. Flappin' Stella
I love you for making this, and I love how much traction it’s getting!
Didn’t realise so many people still felt so strongly for this masterpiece
They could actually improve the story or expand it and let's be honest for a ds game it ha awesome cut scenes
Other than HD graphics and voice dialogue, idk how much the story can be improved. And yeah, you gotta love those cut scenes.
Honestly after DQVIII on PS2 I was sceptical about DQIX on DS, because the hardware was insanely different, but I was surprised tbh, DQIX pushed the DS to the limit, along with Pokemon BW2
The story could have flashbacks to brigadoom before it was destroyed. And more back story for the Gritish Empire
Finally got around to watching this video, you did a great job on it! I would like to see a remake of DQ9 in the future, it needs one badly. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you later on ;)
Glad you liked it 😁
I loved this game so much when i was younger but i was too young to understand all the wireless features so i never got to do all the downloadable post game content. I would be so happy if it got a remake :)
I love the way you can create your whole party of characters. I really hope they remake this game and keep that feature!
Honestly, while I adore 9 to pieces, it's amazing to replay and notice all the weird, unexplored portions of the game. The chest in the stornway treasure room with a unique animation but contains just a basic rosary, for example. Or how barebones and unexplored some of the plots in the game are. All of that makes me wonder what a remake could truly do for 9.
Thank you for making this beautiful video. This game gave me so much childhood memories and hearing your view points in regards of this remake made me want the remake version of this beautiful game.
Glad you liked it!
Wow!! My comment made it to the video, that's so cool! 🥺 CONGRATULATIONS on 9,000 subs! 🥳🎉 I have over 450 hrs on DQIX and I would invest that time all over again in a heartbeat if there was a remake!
I agree so much with this! Whatever shape or form a rerelease of this game gets, the multiplayer needs to be in place in some form or another! I'd love to see a remake with the visual style of Ni No Kuni or DQIX.
Nice work! Learned a lot, I had no idea about the Inn guests thing, thats pretty cool and there are way more people who love this game than I thought.
I just played DQ IX as my first DQ game and I liked it a lot! Some of my top requests for a remake are:
-QOL changes. For the love of God please let me speed up the dialogue, battle animations, and running speed. And it would be nice if NPCs which provided services didn’t have intro and exit text every single time you used their services (ex. Alchemy, bank, saving).
-I was pretty disappointed that the game barely acknowledges the existence of your party members except to say that they can’t be with you at some parts. I got pretty attached to the ones I created so I don’t think I would want them to be pre-made characters. I think a nice way to do that would be to be able to give them Animal-Crossing-Style personality archetypes, like you mentioned in the video. At the very least, in side quests that involve a certain vocation/weapon skill, the quest-giver should at least be shown as talking to the party member with that vocation or weapon instead of just pretending the main character is the only one doing everything.
-I don’t know if this is a DQ standard but it was weird that enemies could only be considered to be part of a group if they were the same species of enemy and right next to each other, and sometimes even if both of those things were the case they were not considered part of the same group. I used a whip as the weapon on my main character but it was pretty lackluster because of the weird way groups were decided meant I couldn’t always hit as many enemies at the same time as I wanted.
On an unrelated note, is there a way I can get that Metal King Slime Dungeon in 2020? lol
Congrats man!
Didn't know about the ruby path of doom think, nice!
Would love a remake of the game, always felt like a potential unfulfilled, especially here in europe where there's hardly any fans condensed together.
Party members with personalities were actually a thing, with some Wi-Fi quests you could add the Stornway Inn staff (Erinn, Patty and Selma) as well as Aquila to your party. You could not talk to them while playing though, but it was an interesting feature. I hope that a remake will bring us playable main characters sooner than in post-game.
Wait really?!!! I still have the game and my Dsi I wonder if it still works
in order to have access to the Wi-Fi quests, you have to either use an action replay, or use a method to connect your Nintendo DS online with a special DNS. tutorials are available online, you shoul be able to obtain these quests pretty easily.
6:34 What I always imagined, is they could bring back the DQ3 personality and depending of the personality of your NPCs, they could react in different ways.
For example if you had a jester personality, that NPC would be more like Deborah and literally provide this almost riftrax-like experience to the entire game, while your brave personality NPC would be quick to remind you where to go, and to never give up, etc.
Dragon quest IX forever in my hearth... What a game ! the story, bosses, characters and side quests are just *SMACK*
The last time you predicted something about Dragon Quest Erdrick got in Smash so yeah this might happen
I want a DQ9 Remake to be a straight up improvement over the original. More classes, weapon types, post game, post game bosses, I want it to be the definitive DQ9.
Same
@@sackchief Problem is, not many ideas for actual classes. Each class in 9 mostly felt unique and each had a niche. There aren't many more that could be filled. Of course they could do some repeats from 7. Oh, and the Sage quest should be changed. You can only unlock it right before the final boss. At least let me have fun with it after I unlock it, you know?
i'm playing DQ9 for the first time and this video pop out of nowhere to me to watch, also I really freaked out when I saw my name there, awesome video
DRAGON QUEST IX WITH DRAGON QUEST XI GRAPHICS??!!! TAKE MY MONEY!!!
Dragon quest 9 is my fav game of all time. I have 700+ hour in it and its never get boring or something like this. I wish they remake this fantastic Game.
If they do remake this game I'm hoping they remake it in the style of Dragon Quest X. A game we never got in the west.
The amount of options would be insane. Since the switch is more powerful than the DS.
What I'm hoping for
Expanded Character Creation.
Alt quests/endings to each Sentinel Quests.
Cameo from last heroes characters
Maybe a hit of a DQX to the switch I guess would be cool as well seeing how we ever got that game in the west.
A DQIX remake with a party that not only was fully customizable party, but said party also had some semblance of a personality, at least some randomly generated dialogues between all of them, that would make it pretty fun to play again.
Ivan Quest 9 sounds like a fun little extra. But yeah, if given time, adding on to the original would be an all around good move. But extra monsters and general grotto variety is a must have, especially if this is coming to the switch. Postgame grotto hopping gets a bit taxing over time.
Yes THANK YOU. I love this game sooo freaking much, I thought I'd be the one to have to bring an idea like this up because of how much I love this game.
This game defeated needs a remake it's my second favorite dq game
I think there's one game which could make my entire decade and it would be a DQ9 remake on switch. But, specifically, a DQ9 remake with online and local coop. The idea of a full-3D DQ11-style version is cool, but what I think would be much cooler is to be able to play the entire story with a friend. Local coop would be best achieved with the same top-down 3D graphical style, where couch-coop players can share the same screenspace and not play in splitscreen. And of course, online coop on two consoles would work very similarly to how it does in DQ9.
One idea I have is adding underwater exploration and a city in a dome.
Love your videos man, you deserve way more views. Also, how can one send you fanart ?
Mohamed DOUMA You can post it in my Discord and ping me.

I grew up with PS2 demo disks with games like Dragon Quest VIII, Ratchet and clank, Ratchet Gladiator, Tekken 4, Jak 3, Shinobido Way of the ninja, Yakuza, Metal Gear Solid 3 and more!
Same here
I agree with the idea to add Pre-set Characters for party members, but, Another way to get around it could be the give custom character personality and a series of lines so they can respond when talked to. Thus allowing players to still make a full party of custom characters and eliminate that lonely feeling
I'm not gonna lie, I bumped into this game maybe a week ago and I love it to pieces. It's my first Dragon Quest mainline game as I played DQ Builders 1 and 2, the FF7 Remake reinvigorated my interest in the turn based games that I grew up with and after beating the original FF7 for the bazillionth time I picked up Legend of Dragoon and then this game.
Things that I'd like to see in the remake would be of course for it to be remade on the PS4/PS5 and Switch with the differences being similar to that of DQ11 and certain things.
Fixing some minor things like being able to alchemise more than 9 items at a time, definitely some menu work, and a fast forward feature in the vein of something like FF12 the Zodiac age.
And then one other thing that I would love to see, but know it's a pipe dream and one that would be pretty decisive to the fan base is another version or maybe even a combat mode that leans into the action jrpg arena, the multiplayer would be tons of fun like this. I definitely wouldn't like it to get a hack and slash kind of treatment, but with a balanced system similar to the FF7 Remake where it has a nice blend of old school turn based strategic combat and the absolute fun of actually playing as a character and not just waiting around to get hit. That's a personal want, but one that I feel isn't something I've seen that is wanted in the DQ community.
What's your take on an action jrpg Dragon Quest game?
DQ IX did have some actual characters join your party post game with dlc quests
But they didn't really have personality, they kinda just were added to the party list :(
DQIX was such a fun game it was quite sad how your companions had no real part in the story tho
Dragon Quest IX is the best almost-fully 3D game on the DS.
Ni no Kuni had a DS version and it looked really great, even though it had pre-rendered backgrounds ala. PS1 Final Fantasy/Resident Evil where each background was a hand-painted artwork by Studio Ghibli.
DQ9 was my first ever DQ game and got me hooked already when I could create my OWN character. Notice how the Fyg hunt subtly descends the player into several different mini-stories while never neglecting the main goal nonetheless.
saamme
I'm here 4 years later 😢
This was also my first Dragon Quest gane that I owned. It was an amazing game.
Dragon quest IX was one of my favourite games when I was younger and I have so many memories playing that game. Would love to see it remade for the switch someday
I hope, if there were to be a remake, that they'd make the side quests less horribly grindy and specific
Sure, you can get a lot of really wicked stuff from them, but I feel like a lot of them just exist to waste your time.
like the one where you have to defeat a liquid metal slime using the Fan Dango skill while wearing bunny ears and a bunny tail.
Awesome video. DQIX is one of my favorite DQ games.
Btw, Erinn is a playable character in DQIX, alongside with Aquila and that other girl in the Inn next to Erinn, but, sadly, they are postgame DLC playable characters so most people don't even know that.
Worth noting that Dragon Quest 9 doesn't need to look as bad as the screen captures here do - several emulators (including DraStic for Android phones) allow 3D models to be rendered at higher resolutions than the native DS screen, giving the game something of a new lease of life
Dragon Quest IX remake would be aces, for sure. I like your suggestion of incorporating set personalities for your party. Another (albeit small) thing I'd like included for a remake would be the Outfit feature from XI, so you could save a certain combination of equipment as an outfit, then have it set on a party member, so as to not affect their stats.
Dragon Quest IX wasn't my first Dragon Quest, but it was the game that made me think "I really want to give this series a ride".
And thanks to IX, I started playing everysingle DQ from I to XI. (Except X, because it was online game).
I just recently got into this awesome series and now my project is to complete every single dq game there is execpt 10 or other japan exclusives... Your videos have been helpful and awesome thanks mate:D
I like the angel falls music you played in the start of the vid
Honestly, the most weird part about mute party members in DQ9 is that it DOES have named NPCs that can be party members but ONLY as dlc and they dont talk so it was really weird how they missed the mark in that aspect
I have so much nostalgia for this game, even though I could never figure out the wifi for the online features there was so much to do post game still.
I am salty about missing out on all the extra quests though
DQIX is my favorite game of all time, and recently i replayed the game with challenges to make it harder, and even with that the game isn't challenging at all when you know what classes is the best, so i would love a reworked difficulty of the game. Great video !
Yes Yes Yes. This is what we need!!! Played through this game many times over! Legacy boss treasure map hunting, grinding grotto bosses for the best gear! And of course gathering alchemical ingredients!
I just copped DQIX used at gamestop near me! Basically completing my game collection. 1-3 on my switch, 4-6 on the apple store, 7 and 8 i bought a while back frol different walmarts (7 i got on sale), and 11 on release. I don’t plan on playing X anytime but I’m excited I got 9 and I definitely want it to get a remake soon aswell!!
I would introduce the party members more bound to the story but still customizable. Characters could still react to a tiny warrior just by ketting them recognize that this character uses the small body type. Same with hair colour, gender and class etc. Gifing them a personality would also make them able to talk. Maybe even add a backstory quest depending on their personality.
The conceot of Miitopia is doing this kindof. It gives the player a que word such as. "Quirky Warrior" and then they player can create the team mate having this aspect in mind.
I got two 3DS's this month and modded them with Dragon Quest 9 on each. Me and my 7-year-old son have been having a blast playing co-op and I would love a switch remaster of this
The Slime face design for DQIX was changes compared to the Japanese version.
The Japanese version had a face similar to Mr. Popo, they changed it because it might be misinterpreted as blackface.
I prefer the Slime face.
I'm still playing DQ10 on PS4 just wish it could be localized. 9 would be awesome to play again on current hardware. Not gonna lie DQ10 is my favorite out of the series next to 7. Keep up the good work on the videos you've been making.
Remaking 9 on the Switch would be great. With Wi-fi gone, this game would be perfect to get an online co-op with the Switch Online. I mean, come on Square Enix. It's not that hard to do.
DQ9 Remake wishlist:
1) *Add voice acting options for the party characters customization* (like in Xenoblade Chronicles X)
2) No DLC locked behind Obsolete WiFi
3) Add new vocations like *Champion* and *Druid* and *Hero* (DQ7)
4) *Add new legacy bosses from DQ11, like Mordregon and Calasmos*
5) Ease of access for multiplayer online connection
6) *Glamour options* PLEASE GIVE US OPTION TO CHANGE APPEARANCE without having to wear certain equipment. DQ Stars did it
Hey congrats on the 9k subs! That’s amazing!
Onto the game, it’s actually a great idea to add alternate endings, I personally always wanted to regrow my wings and halo back and was a bit disappointed when I found out I couldn’t... maybe a kind of reward after completing the game to return to our original status, or even switch between human and Celestrian (was it Celestrian? I don’t remember...)
I'd have to say one feature I think would be interesting would be a type of cosmetic system, that way you can change up your look without compromising your gear's stats.
i think for a remake they should let u have a special room in stronway inn that you can customize and invite friends to hang like animal crossing.
Awesome video man! As for changes if we get a remake, I’d like the ability to be able to play the whole game multiplayer and feel like everyone’s playing the same campaign rather than you’re just a guest in someone else’s save file.
Would be a welcome addition
Dragon Quest is the dragon best, brother! Going to have to join the chorus of those who say IX got them into the series because it got me into it as well 12 years ago.
Oh, I think so, too! DQIX has to be one of my favorite DQ installments ever, and it would be awesome to play it on the Switch!
Man, I wish I grew up with Dragon Quest. I didn't know anything about it until Hero was announced for smash, even then I've only played DQ11 on switch. It'd be pretty cool to experience older DQ games on the switch. I really hope DQ8 gets a remaster one day, because I was the DQ8 alt costume in smash lol.
