People are complaining about 12 year olds saying this song means a lot to them and they relate to it, they don't necessarily have to have depression. I did struggle with depression but it wasn't extremely bad and I got over it, I relate to this as I know my mother struggled with this. Never say that someone can't relate to something until you have saw it from their view.
Statistically, depression doesn't typically manifest until late-puberty. If you've had "depression" and you are 12 years old, not to doubt your claims, but you likely are developing typical hormone-induced fluctuations in emotion which, fortunately (yet unfortunately), is historically normal for your age.

He came out saying that he'd been a very unhappy person the past 6 months or so. Hope this clears everything up, if not watch Connor's our2ndlife video, A New Chapter. < Search that and it's the first video that pops up. Made me very emotional.
