Who doesn't believe in the Lord Jesus Christ should repent as long as they still can. It's about our eternity. God doesn't speak for nothing what He speaks. I don't want to be in the place of those who have not accepted God's gospel of grace and die in their sins! This is not about religion, but about the way, the truth and the life.

All the glory of god, all the miracles and and all the sadeness of being a human - in a single moment of a time. Every time, can't listen without tears, don't klnow why. To me Rachmaninoff is if Bach was living in XX century. He gives glory to the God in much more dramatic /realistic tints, with bitter feeling of regrets of horrors of the First World War. (Never before had war been so merciless.) His harmony is like no other absolutelly stunning. And you can hear how cinematic and modern sounding his music is - all the modern music is under his strong affect. Music was never be the same again after him. The word "genius" is perhaps too overused. Rachmaninov is some kind of divine revelation.

@@CrimsonNClova but also, maybe dont gatekeep this piece? or classical music in general? people already view classical music as elitist and now youre here proving that harmful stereotype. as someone who grew up with classical music i just love it when my friends get interested in a certain piece that i show them. this is how you drive away people who might be interested in classical music and are starting to enjoy it. dont be an asshole dude
The program notes are quite accurate and relevant in setting the context for this great composer’s often touchy relationship with the Russian Orthodox Church. One aspect of his personal life that is often politely overlooked in commentaries such as this is that Rachmaninov married his first cousin, which violated the Church’s restrictions on consanguinity. As such, Rachmaninov’s marriage could not be confirmed by an Orthodox wedding service. This self-imposed isolation obviously had a direct and lasting impact on his spiritual life. 1. ‘Come, Let Us Worship’ - The tempo is rushed and fails to do justice to the composer’s fanfare-like conception for this setting. 2. ‘Bless the Lord, O my soul’ - Also rushed and even a bit ragged in places (as if the director and soloist couldn’t agree on the appropriate tempo). 3. ‘Blessed is the Man’ - Yes!! The director finally got the memo. This is an appropriately measured and respectful rendering of Rachmaninov’s richly textured choral harmonies. 4. ‘O Serene Light’ [Phos hilaron] - Perfect. From hereon in, the renditions are on par with the best in the available discography of the ‘Vespers.’
Mr. Berezansky: You are correct; in #1, the tempo was rushed and almost resembled the choir singing notes instead of music. The conductor missed the majesty of the piece. In #2, also agree w/ your comments. Further, the conductor couldn't control the bass and tenor sections' balance, likely because he was rushing them. In my mind, for both, I was yelling at the conductor to Slow Down! Subsequent pieces were better.

Saint Isaac's Cathedral, an Orthodox church. Orthodoxy is the only true faith, and this message has been accepted by thousands in their visit to this Cathedral. Unfortunately, communism led to the relegation to the cathedral for a period of time, though now it is used for regular services, including feast services in the main chamber. Glory to God!

It is unfortunately the US hegemon behind this dreadful war.
if there is a God, there's no better proof than this creation
I solemnly swear there is and he loves you. If possible, try to pray and ask for God to enter your heart like he did me. This comes straight from heaven 🎶❤️

Only the kind of insulting and primitive adertisments remind me of the cursed world I live in.
Bless all the good listeners, love you all, GOD and Rachmaninov with us forever!
And to you 🙏🏼❤️
Glory to Jesus Christ
Having heard the murderously furious hissing reptilian voice of the demon assigned me in this life, can you imagine what this spectacular harmonization of Rachminiov's vespers means to me?
I'M WEEPING TO JESUS
and so the Cas comments have started
who cas is?
Annoying. Please, to the people leaving the stupid cas comments, educate yourselves a little on this music. It’s not a Hollywood soundtrack.
Anna Karenina (1997) brought me here.

Does the photo show doors from an Orthodox church? What church or cathedral is it?
Saint Isaac's Cathedral, an Orthodox church. Orthodoxy is the only true faith, and this message has been accepted by thousands in their visit to this Cathedral. Unfortunately, communism led to the relegation to the cathedral for a period of time, though now it is used for regular services, including feast services in the main chamber. Glory to God!
@@cyriljorge986 Is this the St. Isaac's in St. Petersburg? I visited that after working for two weeks at Valaam Monastery. Have you been to these places?
@@richardmohr9428 Yes, and that's wonderful, I would love to spend time at Valaam.
What language is this sung in?
Church Slavonic aka Medieval Bulgarian. The ancient liturgical language of the Russian Orthodox Church bears very little resemblance to Modern Russian.
