    I use analog hardware synths exclusively but these sampling options are still very useful to me. For example, I could use DMD to sample drum sounds from my Moog DFAM, and use autosampler to capture sounds from my other synths. That way, if I'm not at home, I have the option of using sampled versions of my hardware to create new ideas for songs, even if I'll eventually switch them to external MIDI for the final recording.

      "..analog hardware synths exclusively.." WHY?

      @@chipgaasche4933 Because that's what I like to use and that's the sound I like. I also enjoy the challenge of building a sound from scratch as oppose to just using a preset

      Cool. I’m not the only one! Analog is superior to digital. I’m arranging my songs in a daw using midi. Then I sent the midi to my hardware: linndrum, prophet 5, ob8, dx7, etc. I monitor though my console and then I print analog hardware to my 24 track 2” tape machine! Which the daw (protools) chases the tape via smpte.

    Drum Machine Designer: Load the close mic kit for close mics on the drum set. (16 different sounds)
    Then load the the over heads into another track of DMD, and two more tracks for the near and far room mics as well.
    So now you have 4 tracks: Close, Overheads, Near, and Far. All just for the drums. Now you can adjust and mix each separately. Then you map your midi to trigger all 4 sounds when you play it. Then you won’t have to buy kontakt or SSD5 to play good drums right?

    using this with the drum synth makes a lot of sense but i can't quite yet see the advantage of using this for making drum kits from samples if you already own battery for instance, primarily because this creates so many channel strips with instances of quicksampler. i don't know what the cpu usage comparison looks like but i'd definitely rather just have one dedicated sampler instrument open instead of 10.

    Is it possible to load custom samples of different velocities into Drum Designer? Or do you need to use the Sampler for that? For instance, having stacked velocities for kick of different volumes. I assume no, but so far Logic has been surprising me.

    Hi! Do you know why when I play a sound in the main track of DMD (track stack) sounds different than when I play the same sound in the individual track?

    • @emilyfakhoury1446
      @emilyfakhoury1446 4 года назад

      Hi Pablo, when you're in the main track of DMD each sound is assigned to its own note. However, the individual track assigns different pitches of that one sound to different notes. It probably sounds different because the note it is assigned to on the main track is not the root note of the sound on the individual track so you are actually playing a higher or lower pitch of the sound. I find using individual tracks to be more useful for things like hi hats or 808s to utilize their different pitches while I used the main track for sounds that I want to maintain pitch. When using an individual track, I look in the piano roll to find the root note. Hope this is helpful.

    Could you do a more in depth video showing how to use with other AU drum plugins as from what I can see you would have to have multiple instances running that are a lot more cpu intensive than Sampler (exs24) . I am using Arturia Spark which only sends on Midi channel 10 so I won't be able to use just one instance. Any help would be welcome. Thanks for the video.

    Is there a way to swap out the input/output once the DMD is selected? By default it routes the channels to an empty AUX but let's say I wanted to swap that out for another.. you can route the outputs but I can't see anywhere to match it with the corresponding input on DMD

  • @Tin_out_of_10

    Thanks for the video. I played with DMD too but it doesn't seem there's an option to quickly switch/swap the current sample for the next sample that would be in a samples folder. For example, if I want to test out different kicks and the MIDI note has already been sequenced, I don't see a way to try the next kick sample in my samples folder.
