Shopper is actually a continuation of the story started in Holssi. IU is doing something that no Korean kpop soloist has EVER done before. And that is actually 2 things, a World Tour and breaking into the US concert market. The only other kpop singers to hold a concert in the US as a soloist are singers who were part of a group who had success in the US and then released some music as a soloist. Butceven these people only held a very limited solo concerts. IU was considering retiring from singing leading upto her record setting concert, The Golden Hour, in September of 22, becoming the 1st female soloist to headline a concert at the Olympic Stadium. The 90,000 tickets sold out in 30 minutes. And unlike the US reselling tickets for more than their face value is illegal. She said during the concert that she ne er dreamed of performing on such a large stage in front of so many people. She was feeling like there was nothing left for her to achieve. But preparing for that concert she got re energized and decided that there were even bigger fish for her to fry. Holssi is telling us about making that decision. It was filmed in the US, the 1st time she made a MV in the states. Holssi means Dandylion seed and she telks us she is going to become a Dandylion seed and see how high she can fly and she is aiming for the sun. She acknowledges that it will not be easy, but that she will not complain about any bumps in the road, she is going to win. Shopper is part two. The 2 MV's are connected in several ways, in typical IU fashion. In the Shopper scene where IU is outside the theater there are several Dandylion seeds floating around her, as seem in Holssi. After she goes into the theater the seeds are replaced by confetti, which is symbolic of Victory. In Holssi she says shevis going for the win in Shopper she is declaring she won't stop until she achieves victory. Therexare othe connections but I will leave that for you all to see and figure out. One last thing that I simply can't let pass without a comment. At the beginning Love Wins All is referenced. As part of that reference it is stated that the MV was about targeting or discrimination against disabled people. That narrative is 100% incorrect. It was started by an article written shortly after release. The author of that article supports his claim by reference toba guide posted on EDAM's site, no such guide has ever been created much less posted. IU wrote the lyrics and Produced the MV. So the entire concept and storyline of the MV is from IU and no one else. IU did post a letter on the EDAM site prior to the release of the song which explains that the mini album contains 2 Love Songs and that she is dedicating Love Wins All to her fans (not because her fans are disabled) but because her fans have also, as she states in the letter "for reasons I don't fully understand" have always supported and love her. There is absolutely nothing in the MV that in any way supports or even suggest this story line. The song mentions only Love. And in the MV it appears that V and IU are the only 2 people remaining a live, at least in this area. If the Cubes were targeting disabled people, not for discrimination as thatcstory line states, but for extermination then were are all the other people? There should be others "normal" people present, even if just watching from the safety of their homes. But there is no one. And why are the cubes destroying the entire city if there purpose is just destroying disabled people? They wouldn't. Then we have the issue of how do the cubes know who has a disability? And what is considered a disability. From the MV it appears that V and IU have been injured, most likely in their effort to escape from being exterminated. These are just a few of the issues whi h totally debunk that story line. In fact I challenge anyone to based solely on the lryics and MV to make that narrative make sense at all. Trust me it can't be done, though a few have tried. But in each case the evidence they point to and the reasoning behind it, ALWAYS turns the MV into something other than being about Love. They without exception turn the story line into one being about revenge, about hate etc. Nothing to do with Love. IU in her letter about the song states that she is tellingca story about the struggle to love when the world gets in the way. No mention or suggestion of disabilities, or prejudice (which is what those who say discrimination really mean as discrimination makes less than zero sense in this context). IU does hate. She doesn't point fingers at others or blames others for her situation and she certainly has experienced many real hardships where she could point to others for doing things that harmed her or held her back. In Holssi she says again she will not complain about anything on her new path that might try and prevent her success. This is one of the ways she is an angel. She only Loves. I just had to get that out, because that narrative is extremely offensive to who IU is as a person. I challenge you guys to watch that MV again with the disability narrative in mind and see if you can make it work in the total context of the MV. Thank you for reacting to IU.

You guys would love him, he writes, directs, and edits all his music/MVs (including this one). There is a documentary behind this that he posted. But he has a very interesting story, so when he grabs the envelope at the end, that is actually in reference to his own story (he has Bipolar and DID and his music reflects what he experiences and also from the vantage point of his other selves). The man is literal ART! But it’s so funny you posted this because I just watched this MV for the first time maybe 30 min before you shared.
