- Today Adam talks about a touchy subject, and one plaguing the watch world in recent years...watch theft. We sit down with a dear friend and colleague of ours who was unfortunately victim to a massive theft, with over 3 million dollars in watches stolen from his home. He shares with us what happened, and he and Adam discuss how to prevent these thefts from occurring and what you can do to better protect yourself.

Tip #1 don't flaunt your wealth on social media. You'll increase the possibility of becoming a target.
Bingo! Or just keep one or two watches out at a time. I’ll stick with my Seikos and G-shocks for anything that can be taken.
Yup, people like this guy want to brag on social media so they can get followers and likes, in exchange for making themselves a target to be robbed and killed. Flaunt your wealth all you want, but there may be someone out there who has nothing to lose and wants it more than you.
This happened to Archie Luxury a few months ago. He went on an overseas holiday and thieves broke into his safe and stole his watches. He still continues to tell people where he lives and exercises on social media.
@@robertschmidt9584 you can’t afford a good watch

People should just enjoy their luxury goods in private. No need to seek the validation and praise of strangers.
Things are going to get financially tighter globally in 2023-24, and thieves will be more desperate than ever.
Stay safe
It almost makes no sense to own an expensive luxury watch these days considering the crime rate increasing that makes it too risky to wear in public. Even watch dealers and RUclips content makers are resorting to wearing their cheap Apple watches in public. The problem will only get worse now as a consequence of low economic confidence.
I avoid posting any of my luxury watches on any social media platform. It only takes one criminal minded person to follow your profile and know where you hangout to be able to track you down. You must not even share your collection with so called friends you don't know very well. I live in an affluent area with low crime yet I don't invite friends to my house. We always meet in restaurants or cafes. I just don't think it's worth the risk. Prevention is always better than the cure. Unfortunately we're in a hobby full of cut throats and thieves. Don't let your guard down for any reason. Even your girlfriend may steal your watch! Plenty of stories of women pretending to pick up men wearing luxury watches then stealing off them. Number one rule, if you are middle aged, bald, fat and ugly, do not believe women are interested in you. They have evil intent.
This guy continues to bless us all with free watch knowledge and educates us how to be safe when dealing with expensive inventory !!! Thanks Adam love what you do 💪🏻
This is genuinely awful to hear and a terrible trend sweeping the community. There’s no consolation prize for your tragedy, but this is invaluable educational content for many out there that remain unprotected. Let’s not forget WAX Insurance. I know it’s a self serving comment, but being a member of the watch community and on the insurance side, the stories I’ve heard over the past year alone are horrifying. I wish more people shared them. This is part of the reason why we were founded. Literally to address the massive gap offered by home owners coverage, understanding collectible values, safeguards, etc. We’re also backed by CHUBB, but cover over 30 collectible categories beyond just watches. But … We’re all watch nerds at heart, which is why I’m here. Appreciate this interview. Stay safe everyone!
Paul Pluta(Archie Luxury) found out the hard way also that insurance companies will pay very little of the value of these watches under your home owners policy. His watches were also in a home safe.
Million of dollars of watches, and doesn’t think to bolt the safe down
Glad to have you back adam!!
Welcome back ! Great Video Adam !
❤❤❤❤
Great informative video. Your vids are some of my favorites I hope you post more!
Great video Adam. Sad topic but necessary education.
Great new video! Wild stuff.
So I had a friend that was a drug dealer and flashed thousands upon thousands of dollars on social media all the time. He's been robbed and had to kill someone in another attempted robbery. Then he would blame anyone but himself for posting his entire lifestyle on social media. It hurts my brain to have an ego that small.
Thank you for another great video mate. I enjoyed every second. Please keep it coming. Thank you for another great video mate. I enjoyed every second. Please keep it coming.
I still wear my watches but I will never talk about my collection, you will be surprised how close the thieves can be in relationship to yourself, in my case it was my girlfriends brother who waited until I went away for the weekend and broke into my place I found out years later when the police found a video recorder at his friends house it was one of the many products that was UV printed with my post code.
A great video, thanks for increasing awareness among the community. A dad of 6 who took pics with fake Rolexes was murdered via an instagram honey trap in the UK. These thieves are heartless scum. I keep all my valuable pieces in the bank and rotate 1 at a time - A headache but worth it to keep safe.
Relieved that his frenchy pups were ok.
Great video Adam !
If you are rich enough cant you make your house break in proof? Maybe strong metal doors with fingerprint id or something better than a key, strong windows and frames that would take too much time and noise to get into. A camera and sensor system that alerts you on your phone if it is down or if it senses something.
Not just for the valuables but for general safety.
Nice didn’t know you had a channel. So much knowledge
Sick video bro!
There is something wrong with this storyline. Is he real?
Yes, he got robbed for a load of expensive watches.... thats whats wrong. Home theft sucks
This is wild! Make sure you have the right insurance!
This is what happens to people who flash their wealth about.
I am so mad your collection was stolen. However- you went out of your way to flaunt your wealth in the most public was possible. The only people who care about your wealth are the bad guys people - the rest of us don’t care - enjoy the hobby in silence
I hope Joe can recreate his collection one day. Thanks for the advises.
I have a sweet $20 Casio Calculator watch that I wear when I travel. No Problems. Enjoy your watches and stay safe!
It’s sad for people who buy stolen goods, knowing that they’re stolen
Nah, I think the price savings makes up for the sad emotions...for some people.
Off load them to a dodgy dealer - he sells them on to someone more reputable. End consumer is non the wiser... he's just brought some vintage watches at the going rate.
Sad to hear this story, I feel for the guy. I am not in to social media and I am very careful with who I share info about my watches. You just never know. I have all my watches insured - just part of the cost of ownership (But I am surprised how many people don't ). Make sure your safe at home can't be picked up (bolt it to the floor, ideally concrete). I also keep my most valuable pieces in a Bank Vault. But there are times when I have a couple of watches at home. So I leave a couple of lesser value watches laying about eg Tag Heuer/Longines (so I give the crooks a little bit), I then have a safe with a Rolex it for example. If they get to this stage they are most likely going to think they have got the good stuff. But I also have another secret place separate my safe that only I know about - so even if they find the safe (and its bolted to the floor) I could still be forced at gun point to open it. But the real valuable stuff is hidden separately (no one else can be forced to say where - so my family members are safe). Hope that helps, some of the watches are impossible to replace, and that's the bit that really hurts - you get an insurance payout, but you can't simply go and buy another one. Take care.
First off, keeping that collection at home, second posting that collection.
Welcome back..been too long!
Thanks Neil!
Gutted for your friend man. A very informative video; especially the points regarding insurance. Welcome back
He may have mentioned it, and I just missed it, but was his home safe anchored to a wall or the floor? I see with this gun safes all the time as well. A small safe is just a convenient way for a thief to carry your things if it's not bolted to anything. Great video, and I really feel bad for the guy. Here's to hoping at least some of it can be recovered.
He had just moved in to a new house, I don’t think it was mentioned. So he had not yet had it drilled into the floor. Literally happened within a few days of moving unfortunately.
This literally reminded me to update my insurance on my new piece. The crooks should goto hell
That’s crazy, 👌🏻
Always check to see if someone is following especially if you have expensive jewelry
WHO NEEDS THIS MANY WATCHES? PUMP & DUMP?
We need to talk more about insurance here. Basically every insurance company underwrites jewelry insurance and his agent is a moron if they didn’t bring this up to him. I assume he has a trash brokered company.
Lol he trynna sell his story for the insurance company 🤣🤣 bum
It's disgusting that we have to educate this! I'm a reviewer (not of high horology but) I always worry about being stung due to it! Be carful fellas
Yep. Always gotta be vigilant.
What city was the robbery??
Right.
Let's sort the buyers from the spyers,
the needy from the greedy,
and those who trust me from the ones who don't,
because if you can't see value here today,
you're not up here shopping.
You're up here shoplifting.
You see these goods?
Never seen daylight, moonlight, Israelite.
Fanny by the gaslight.
Take a bag, c'mon take a bag.
I took a bag home last night.
Cost me a lot more than ten pound, I can tell you.
Anyone like jewelry?
Look at that one there.
Handmade in Italy, hand-stolen in Stepney.
It's as long as my arm.
I wish it was as long as something else.
Don't think because these boxes are sealed up, they're empty.
The only man who sells empty boxes is the undertaker,
and by the look of some of you lot today,
I'd make more money with me measuring tape.
Here, one price.
Ten pound.
Squeeze in if you can.
Left leg, right leg, your body will follow.
They call it walking.
You want one as well, darling?
You do?
That's it.
They're waking up.
Treat the wife.
Treat your friend's wife.
It's a lot more fun if you don't get caught.
Hold on.
You want one as well?
Okay, darling, show me a bit of life then.
It's no good standing out there like one o'clock half-struck.
Buy them, you better buy them.
These are not stolen,
they just haven't been paid for,
and we can't get them again.
They've changed the bloody locks.
Here.
One for you.
It's no good coming back later when I've sold out.
"Too late, too late" will be the cry when the man with the bargains has passed you by.
If you got no money on you now, you'll be crying tears as big as October cabbages.
Good thing they where insured ; )
wow that's crazy, bolt your safes down people or someone can just pick it up and walk off
so if the watches are so special it should help get them back... I believe there is a database for stolen watches.
1. Spend an obscene amount of money on watches. 2 . Spend an obscene amount of money to insure watches. 3. Spend a lot of money on safe and bank safe. 4. Not be able to keep your watches at home even in safe and not be able to wear your watches every day. always watching out. 5 Have fun LMAO.
Crazy story!
Indeed 😢
❤❤❤
For someone who had a collection of this value and who you presume has been successful in some area to be able to afford a multi million dollar collection as only a portion of his total worth it is naive, if not negligent and utterly ignorant to have considered the items fell in his general household contents insurance …people have a responsibility to declare their valuables and to understand the value of their cover..This one doesn’t sound like it falls at the door of the insurer but the insured unless the broker was also a clown
watch ur back always to see if someone is following you
don't flash your treasures on IG
don't get frenchies get a real guard dog then maybe one frenchie
whats the point of having 12 cameras if someone can disable them
million dollar safe but can't spend $20 to bolt it down.. makes no sense to me
Recommend buying insurance from an independent broker who can provide advice vs online. “15 minutes could save you 15% but could cost you everything you own”. Get a broker/consultant.
Full disclosure I am a insurance broker but recommend finding someone you trust.
Good advice!
Those robbers will never be happy
So sad. People are wicked jerk offs!
Dude find a better t-shirt next time please, it’s painful for my eyes
I don’t think Adam cares? 😊 it’s just great to see him back!
I thought the robot was creepy also...just saying.
@@NinjaNovice that’s a rare Mido display robot from like the 1960s. Look it up, super cool!
@@robertschmidt9584 😅my t-shirts have grown into such a point of contention, it would be wrong of me to change them up at this point 😂😂😂
I've had a watch stollen don't trust anyone including your friends .
Really enjoying the channel 👍
Love the content! Please tell us ur wrinkled sloppy stretched-out tshirt is not the look u were going for.
Insurance fraud , that was easy lmao
you need to be properly insured to make that work... in this case he unfortunately wasnt.
Set up I think
I didn't learn anything about how to protect my watches....
Don’t store them where you live. Done
Make sure you're insured, dont post on social media (or at least delay posting), keep all but one in a safe away from home.
