    I am officially obsessed with her. She's amazing, her music is amazing. Man, I hope she becomes crazy famous because she can't help but make music and the music industry better. I'm so tired of all the sound-alike artists shoved down our throats.

    Janelle Monae, you're an example and a worthy heroine for those of us trying to achieve the same goal of spreading love in a world full of hate. From my side of the universe to yours, keep fighting the good fight.

    Thank you for not being an corporate empowered seductress and succubus . Keep your music real. Hold your identity. In the face of great power hold your ground. Stay low, stay strong, stay underground.
    You have the real power. Love and truth.!
    Spread the word

      Junubia ** nah. its more wicked than that....... She sold. her soul""" to the Devil,, Illuminati .... all those end up in Hell only have themselves to blame. the poor are God's chosen people . ( Bible ) James 2:5 Listen my beloved brethren has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in #faith. and heirs to the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him. 2:6 But you have dishonored the poor man do not the rich oppress u and drag u into the courts. ** the Bible is the Truth, Jesus is the way, this world trust in Oppression, the word says do not trust in Oppression , nor vainly hope in robbery if riches increase do not set your heart on them. amen .

    I wish that men wouldn't demand a space in every single aspect in society. I'm not saying men don't play a role in Janelle's story, nor that they don't deserve a space, but they need to find their own way in, and actually listen and respect before they assume they are entitled to a place in her artist's construct. Men already receive so many privileges that they refuse to see, and they presume to feel "left out." Women feel left out of important things in society much more often, and men can learn how to deal with that. COMPASSION FIRST.

      To play devil's advocate for a moment. Isn't your comment just part of the divisiveness she was just talking about in this video? You say 'compassion first' after attacking men in a generalised fashion?
      Not trying to have a go, I'm genuinely trying to understand where you're coming from.

    • @sleepy4393
      @sleepy4393 10 лет назад

      ***** It's frustrating that you choose to react the way you did instead of look into the issues and take concern with what she's saying.
      Why are you feeling as if men are being attacked when any of their privileges are acknowledged and compared to those of women and other genders?

    • @inphanta
      @inphanta 10 лет назад +1

      kh460 "Why are you feeling as if men are being attacked…"
      Because Kate's exact words were, and I quote: "I wish that MEN wouldn't demand a space in every single aspect in society", which (at face value at least) is clearly directed at men in general. All because of a remark made by ONE man (the interviewer) who represents nobody but himself. How else should such a comment be taken?
      As for "privileges", that's a complex, nuanced issue that does not simply come down to gender. One could, for example make the case that a black male certainly does not have the same societal "privileges" as a white male (or female for that matter). But again, this is a nuanced issue, and the last thing I want to do is descend into Oppression Olympics.
      I don't agree with the interviewer's quip (i.e. "Where do men fit into the [Electric Lady] concept?", since I think it's a non-issue, but I would argue that Kate's comment (which I critiqued) is as equally divisive, pointed and exclusionary as the interviewer's.

    She gets into some pretty hefty subject matter and manages to not say nothing at all. Very interesting concept of "the android" and obliterating racial ideas by harkening back to the cradle of civilization. Big stuff. Makes me think of the Science Museum of Minnesota's exhibit "Race" which put forth the idea scientifically that there are no races of humanity at all. Just one human family without identifiable lines between DNA samples. Catchy tunes she's got too.

    Bo Ditley was Rock-n-Roll, Black ppl created Rock-n-Roll...Muddy Waters, Bo, Li'l Walter ppl like that created it..
    Elvis, the Stones, the Beatles they adopted the genre..We don't teach that in our schools.
