    Well done Dom, love your Boot Room Games, great table & armies & always enjoy your commentary. Interesting & balanced game, I'm not familiar with this particular period but Hail Ceasar (along with your tweaks) worked well. Many Thanks 👍

    Some one must write a poem about this epic from unboxing to the battlefield. Tremendous selection of figures. Grandad did point out the purple bard?
    We've never had that number of supports in combat which did make a difference.
    Perhaps you could use the kern as skirmishers in an off camera battle.
    It's suggested most enclosure boundaries were ditches. It would be interesting to see what difference it makes in a battle. Brilliant well-done

      cheers for the suggestion, I think i'm going to allow kerns to move at normal pace in terrain and given them the marauder rule to allow them the mobility they seem to enjoy on the battlefield

      The beauty of wargaming is there are so many rulesets

    Hail Caesar works well with this sort of large game. I always wonder about skirmisher's and medieval warfare, as I thought one of the reasons for the shock of facing the Mongols was a lack of skirmishing types to counter their horse archers. Although in Ireland, like Wales the terrain would favour loose formations?

      @BootsontheTable  Год назад

      yeah its a balance. I just dont want lots of skirmishing infantry as I dont see that as a reality. I have decided to allow Kerns to move unpenalised through terrain and allow them to have the marauder rule which hopefully helps them out

    Dom are your pike blocks large enough? I could not see how many figures you were using for them.

    • @BootsontheTable
      @BootsontheTable  Год назад

      not for Ken maybe, 24 figures strong

      @@BootsontheTable Yes Ken would want a hundred! Don and I have been reading the rules for the WotR and have decided the pike block should be 36 models if the other unts are 18, that was the basis of my question. How big do you think the pike blocks should be for HC2?

    • @BootsontheTable
      @BootsontheTable  Год назад

      @Leslie Beilby-Tipping I see what you mean. So my pike blocks are 4 bases 2x2 basically. Each base has 6 figures on it but certainly you could do mote

      @user-gn5eo7yv3u yes I was completely unaware of the invasion but I watched a RUclips video about the history and I was hooked and the project was born!
