One thing about Ghanaians artisans are old school and they will impose their old ideology on you. Kudos to her for standing her ground. I have to put my mason in his place when it came to the plastering in my kitchen.

They are very defensive of their ignorance. I have similar experience. I just asked them to pulse the project. They can be so annoying.
When Tilly was building and was honing a lot about Mr. Akomea and the contractor,l was laughing cos I knew this day would come. The best way of building in GH is to be hands on and supervise everything and not to rely on contractors. I am glad she's doing the right thing now.
Hmm is very serious in this country.
I also commented about Mr Akomea not long ago for how Tilly has not been applauding him. Me I don’t trust any one. I have been there. There are good people but because of mistrust, money wastage due to corrections, I won’t leave my project for any one. Am going to Ghana in 2weeks and will spend 3mths to see to our project. When the money runs out, we halt and continue the following year.
I stuck with my open floor plan although they discouraged it. I said it’s mine and I’m the one living here so yeah I want what I want. Thanks for the video so much to pick from it.

It's sad to here same thing happened to us and stole all our wires, it did deflate us but, we not giving up.. they have no idea how hard it is to get the money to come and build this house.

That joint should be miter at 45 degrees on both sides to get 90 degree angle.
The same thing happened to me, the person that was living in my house pull out my wires even though it was sealed with POP and then he was making up stories but he was caught.
some people are just wicked,glad he was caught.

you should have showcased some of the beauties in that house. For example the POP ceiling was very beautiful but was not focused on the video. The railings on the stairs, balconies and patio were also not properly showcased. I love the bases to the Columns/Pillars that the guy built and we should have gotten a better view for them too. Thanks for helping Tilly out too bro

Wow no one should have to go through that when building a house. Ghana needs to pull it together and get regulations in place like other developed nations it’s 2023 it should not be like this.
Who says there aren't regulations? There are but people just do what they want, especially if you rely on artisans with little to no formal training. People who build with professionals usually don't go through this pain.

Is about time diasporas build houses that can bring returns(apartments) instead, especially those of us who are not sure of when moving to ghana permanently . Just my opinion
Diasporas are really doing great investment in Ghana,most of the apartments in the country are owned by diasporas,i will be uploading a video of a newly opened apartment soon.
She got wrong people right from the start.
Obviously this has cost her much much more than it should.
Even the land is not utilised properly. The placing or positioning of the building says it all.
Sometimes I feel like hiring Indians abd other nationals to do my project backhome if I could afford them . Our people do very shabby jobs. My iron rods got stolen, I bought two pumps, stolen and the same happened to me, the caretaker, connived with them thieves to steal all my things. So bad in this Country. Everyone is not trusted in this country

That house will be a show piece. I love the details in her moldings, floors, ceilings and columns. Hopefully the building cost will be disclosed to give some idea of what it takes. Do you believe such a house can be built in 6 months if finances are available?

The Ghanian builders remind me of Jamaican builders - they try to outside you to build your house not according to the blueprint but according to what they know, their expertise. They don't know how to do modern things you want but will not say. They take all your money doing whatever they want them when you come from a broad to look at the work and get mad, they ran off to dupe the next unsuspecting person elsewhere. Now you have to either pay them extra to fix the problems or find a new builder to fix the problems and finish off the building process.

@ElvisBenson Bro, sometimes I regret starting this project while I'm not there to monitor it. Stealing of materials started right from the time started cutting the blocks. The country stole 50 bags of cement to go , but we caught him. My own cousin, a contractor came in that was straw that nroke the 🐫 back. He was even worse. Overcharging, inlation of material costs, shoddy jobs etc

@electricman68 yes. But I do not think that should cost that much for the basement alone. I know all the walls are reinforced with iron rods, all concrete but I believe strongly, I ve been done in.

However you've houses similar to Tilly's that are going for $450,000 or more that blows my mind. To me, if you can afford to build a house worth more than $120.000, you should be able to buy a vehicle to take you there. If Tilly completed the house today, she can put it on the market and quote that price and see who will bite
