  • Now Israel passes the era as a unified kingdom and enters the era of divided kingdom. The historical kingdom of God on this earth, which began with Abraham, is rapidly collapsing at the peak of the era of David and Solomon. From now on, active prophets such as Elijah and Elisha and documentary prophets such as Isaiah and Jeremiah will actively point of the sins of northern Israel and southern Judah and draw a more concrete picture of the complete kingdom of God which will happen through the coming Messiah Jesus Christ. We have been the same before, but when we look at the kings of divided kingdoms, we may ask, 'Why did God make these people kings?', but God did not make them kings.
If we trace the Bible back again, the divided kingdom was created because of Solomon's crime (1Ki 11:1-13), and it is important to know that the beginning of kings like Solomon began with Saul, because the Israelites forsook God, the king, and wanted a human king (1Sa 8:1-7). In the history of humans who were already sinners, it was proved that rebellion was constantly repeated throughout all history after Eden, and then they finally abandoned God. And God already knew these things, so He made the way for salvation and created it. So He chose David, who appeared after Saul, as the servant of God, and not forming or starting God's kingdom on this earth through David, but through the aspects of David and Solomon's lives, Jesus Christ, who will come as the true King and Savior was revealed.
And now the history of the world is collapsing. It will not fall apart by God, but by humans who are sinners, themselves. Again, the cries and activities of prophets who intervene in the crumbling history are not to restore and rebuild that history. Rather, it is to point out the limitations of the history of this earth and to make them see the kingdom of God, where God is the king. That is why the kings and people who are still pursuing the things of this world threatened, persecuted, and killed the prophets who cried out. Now, as we enter the history of the divided kingdoms, it becomes clear that they are no worse than we are, and revelas how we are living in this world and how we should live.
South Judah will have 20 kings in David dynasty alone. Not because of their goodness, but because of God's involvement in history, He will make David's dynasty last forever, finally leading to Jesus Christ (1Ki 11:36). Northern Israel, starting with the Jeroboam dynasty, Baasha dynasty, Shimri dynasty, Omri dynasty, Jehu dynasty, Salum dynasty, Menahem dynasty, Pega dynasty, and Hosea dynasty, all fought the bloodly war of the death, killing and getting killed throughout the 9 dynasties, and will reveal what the life in the kings of this world is like.
