@@BoshyWashy Have you definitely moved the server file into it's own new folder before trying to run it? Also are you definitely sure that you just removed the older version of Java? It might be worth trying the Java install again, and then before making any changes then try and run the server file (in it's own folder)
Make sure you dont copy the .jar when renaming the server, I did this on accident and the end of the file name was “.jar.jar” and it was giving me this issue

@@Notorious_Chimp gave up on trying and just bought a server with my friends, it's actually more efficient for me and stress-free than trying to tweak with port forwarding and other stuff that you need to run a server
This usually indicates that you either don't have java, or the version you have is outdated - I'd suggest making sure that this is up to date as the first troubleshooting step
If you're using RDP then presumably you are connecting to a remote server - if this server isn't on your network and is with a hosting service provider, then no you shouldn't need to port forward, you should just need to open the relevant firewall ports with that provider
I started the server and I was able to connect via my private IP but when my friend try to join and write my public IP he cannot connect to the server. any way to fix this??
If you're hosting locally then it could be that you need to set up port forwarding - it's a bit complicated to explain here to would recommend looking it up or getting in touch with your ISP to help with that one

Hi there, That text actually means that the server is online and working. If you were to then join the server through Minecraft you'd see the text in the console update showing that your profile has joined the game, and will show any other changes that happen to the server.

I just fixed my problem that the CMD window instantly gone when you click the .bat file You MUST use JDK, not JRE. This is referring to the Java installation. Download JDK, choose your platform (MacOS, Windows, etc.) For Windows, choose the .msi file (msi stands for microsoft installer) Uninstall Java first if you have the JRE, then install the new one, and try to rerun the .bat file
Hi there, The basic level that this tutorial would leave you at would let you update your server and also install mods, but it's worth keeping in mind that when you start to add mods into the mix the update process will become much more complex and will likely mean you'll need to stick to older versions etc.
Does the batch file definitely contain the right server name that matches to the server file? Have you tried following the notice in the description to make sure the server itself runs correctly?

Hi, Running multiple servers on the same system is an interesting topic, and one that I hope to cover in the near future! Adding mods to a server is actually fairly straight forward - all you need to do is download the mods and then add them to the "mods" folder in the server location (if the folder doesn't exist then just create it). Depending on the mod you might need to create a new world, and of course both you and anyone else joining will need the mod installed. locally.

You may want to check if you are running a 32 bit or 64 bit OS - if you are running a 32 bit OS then the maximum amount of RAM you can allocate is 1GB, which would also explain why the batch file isn't working. If this is the case then I'm afraid there isn't a way around this asides from using a device with a 64bit OS, or running the server remotely.
Hi, your best bet is to download an older version. There are a few ways to do this but one way that I've done personally is using mcversions.net. Here you can search for the version you want, click download and then select the server file for that version. Whilst I've had no issues with this, please be aware that this is a third party site and you do this at your own risk.
Hi, I've just followed the same steps again with the latest update and it seems to work fine for me - the only difference that I can see is that server name in the batch file no longer has the version number in it, but it's the same process of either copying the server file name into the batch file, or the batch file server name out to be the server file name. Not an issue i've seen before, the only thing I could suggest is removing that eula file and making your own: Filename: eula.txt Inside, paste: eula=true Once that's in place you then try and run the batch file again, if that doesn't work you might want to start the process again from scratch

To those of you have an error when the file opens after a short second, you need to uninstall and download Java 20. You Java is outdated. Uninstall everything else Java related as well.

You may need to look at removing any old versions of Java you have installed - beyond that however this might be an issue that you have to look into yourself as it's hard to say what is causing that
Yes you can use your dynamic IP, the only problem is when your IP changes you'll need to let everyone know what the new IP is so that they can still join the server
Hi, if your server host gives you access to the server files (either by file manager or FTP) then you'll be able to download the world files and then import them to whatever server you plan to host on next - best bet is to ask your current host how to download your world from their servers
This will work on any machine that has the specifications needed to run a Minecraft server, as long as you also implement port forwarding (which is not covered in this video)

@Memes_24.7 I had a similar problem when I was trying to allocate 10gb of ram, switched it to 11 and it worked fine.

try naming your jar file as just "minecraft_server" while leaving the batch file as "java -Xms1024M -Xmx2048M -jar minecraft_server.jar --nogui"

A friend of mine tried joining my server, until she got met with a getsockopt error.
How do we fix this? I would really love to play Minecraft with my friend.

Minecraft is capped to a single cpu core and thread. No power other than Mojang can change this as of now

Try opening the server file
To those of you have an error when the file opens after a short second, you need to uninstall and download Java 20. You Java is outdated. Uninstall everything else Java related as well.

Make sure that you have the latest version of Java installed

@@dragonwing5204 If you are getting a Java exception when running the server file itself, that is indicative of a Java specific issue.
You may need to look at removing any old versions of Java you have installed - beyond that however this might be an issue that you have to look into yourself as it's hard to say what is causing that

You must turn your ip from DHCP to static
i have a dynamic ip, is it still possible to do this with just my ip and the port?
Yes you can use your dynamic IP, the only problem is when your IP changes you'll need to let everyone know what the new IP is so that they can still join the server

Hi, if your server host gives you access to the server files (either by file manager or FTP) then you'll be able to download the world files and then import them to whatever server you plan to host on next - best bet is to ask your current host how to download your world from their servers

If someone runs the bat file and the command prompt shows up and disappears instantly, make sure to have the latest java installed

Try running the server file itself first - if that doesn't work then make sure your java version is up to date

This will work on any machine that has the specifications needed to run a Minecraft server, as long as you also implement port forwarding (which is not covered in this video)

you typically want to provide your public IP, so the IP that shows up when you type in "whats my IP" into google etc.
