- VOCES8 sings 'Die Himmel erzählen die Ehre Gottes' by Heinrich Schütz in the Christuskirche in Recklinghausen, Germany.
TEXT
Er hat der Sonne eine Hütte in derselben gemacht;
Amen.
TRANSLATION
1 The heavens declare the glory of God: and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
2 One day telleth another: and one night certifieth another.
3 There is neither speech nor language: but their voices are heard among them.
4 Their sound is gone out into all lands: and their words into the ends of the world.
5 In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun:
which cometh forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a giant to run his course.
6 It goeth forth from the uttermost part of the heaven, and runneth about unto the end of it again: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As is was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. -
Ja, Schütz so vorzutragen, ist fantastisch. Wunderbar.🌴🌻
Wow they are on a roll.. It's getting to the point when the answer to the question, "What is your favorite V8 video?" is "The most recent."
Shout out to Katie and Chris for the best "just chilling" vibes while they wait for the next section to sing
Ha ha, I was thinking the same ! Poor Katie and Chris with barely anything to sing :p
A gentle rocking, turn page with the six, Amen, exeunt.
I now feel vindicated for giving choral parts half the piece rests now, thanks Schütz
Hahaha, spot on :D
I half expected one of them to produce a triangle at the end.
Toll! Respekt! Bravissimo!
This grumpy, old fart of a Baptist just LOVES to hear such beautiful music. Thank you, Voces8, for such pure artistry.
Molly Noon is a great addition to Voces8. Her tone and stage presence is outstanding.
Is she single?😊
@@DrewMureiko LOL!!!!
DANKE
MAGNIFIQUE !!!
Barney in his modal voice? What a rare blessing ;)
So so so schöne Musik und so wunderbar gesungen.
Splendid.
Can‘t wait!!!! Such a beautiful Performance 🥰
Zauberhaft ❣ Gott segne euch 💙
Vielen Dank!! 🙏🏻
Masterfully done, thank you for sharing it here!

Such musical perfection, performed by the best in the world. I am happy to be alive in this time, to witness such beauty of song. Thank you, VOCES8.
DANKE!!!
I love Schutz's music, and even more after listening to this wonderful performance by the stunning Voces8
flottes tempo...sehr schön!
Voces8 truly is in a class like no other. What truly elegant diction, intonation, and interpretation. Simply stunningly beautiful.
Every voice is constantly clear and distinct yet in perfect harmony.
Bonjour ,
The human voice is an instrument God gave us as a gift. It ist obvious here. We should appreciate it.
From the 🇺🇸 USA. ♥️
Absolute perfection. 👌
All of you bring tears to my eyes. ♥️ 🌹
I always get goosebumps when I hear VOCES8. The arrangements and the harmonies are incredibly beautiful! This just left me spellbound. I love VOCES8 so much!
But you are aware that in just thar case this the arrangement and harmonies have already been made up some 400 years ago? 😀 good example that time does not matter a lot, when it comes to quality! and nevertheless it needs persons who can bring those miracles to live again!
Always strikes me when I experience those kind of moments of perfect intertemporal connection!
I can't describe the beauty of this music together with a worshipping heart. I am most grateful for the amazing beauty accessible through love for God and love for music. Thank you Voces8. Greetings and blessings from Germany
Amen!
Ausgezeichnet! Perfect balance in the voices, and nice sensitive interpretation. Vielen Dank!
Absolut brilliant!
Wow, that´s what I call a masterpiece ! Heinrich Schütz, hervorragend interpretiert. 👍👍👍Greets from GER, U.
Perfection
Schön!! Sehr schön!
Geniale Acapella-Gruppe.
Amen...Thank you so much...
Now I know, how our choirmaster wanted to have it!
Wie wunderschön! Gänsehaut pur!😊
Die mänschliche Stimme ist so fabelhaft. Unglaublich schön.
Lovely way to begin my day… thank you for sharing your beautiful gifts
Beautiful, masterful singing. As a German I'm really impressed by your pronounciation and punctuation. Most choirs I sang in would not have done as good.
Seguramente, Los Ángeles del Cielo cantaron junto a ustedes 🙏🏻♥️Glory to God
Amazingly beautiful!!!🤗🥰❣💓🌺🌹🍀
Love the way y'all really seem to be enjoying yourselves amid the technical perfection!
I guess this will be part of a songlist in heaven 🎶 ♥
Wow!
Bravo and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE always keep (and add) a little bit of SCHÜTZ in your repertoire 🤩 It is well appreciated by numerous Schütz nerds 🤭👍
Vielen Dank so schön ❣️ danke
Wonderful rendition, showing how powerful "old" music can be. You keep such a perfect balance between all the voices. And your pronunciation of German is flawless. Thank you for almost four minute of pure joy.
I could listen to this all day and night. It’s so beautiful it makes me teary.
Wow - one of my absolute favourite choir songs - done so perfectly, thank you! I have sung this a couple of times myself, but never did I hear remotely so much "order in the chaos" as in your recoding, really impressing! And to be true, your pronunciation is much clearer than what we in my German choirs ever achieved. :-) Thanks so much for sharing this and take care!
Indeed. This composition runs the risk of getting muddier in sound the more voices in each part. The singularity of the multiple voices here is what creates the magic. Of course, technical perfection doesn't do any harm.
So beautiful, emotionally multifacetted. Almost can't believe it.
This beautiful, spirited performance reminds us why Heinrich Schutz is on the short list of great German composers
I trust you mean 'shortlist' rather than 'short list'?
@@afarmery LOL! Yes, the full list of greats is extensive.
God! how indescribably beautiful-both the music and the performance.
Simply gorgeous. 🙏
Chills all the way through. What a great way to start the day.
Devine!
Now I'm waiting for "Herzlich lieb hab ich dich, o Herr", also Schütz.
Excellent pronunciation, wow!
FABULOUS!!!
Ganz große Klasse. Einmalige Präsentation dieses großartigen und schweren Stücks!
Wow. What a watershed two weeks for Schütz! First this wonderful performance of SWV 386 followed on RUclips 9/1 with Calmus Ensemble’s awesome 5 part SWV 377! Both performances take the Master’s Chormusik to a new level. It’s about time more people are appreciating what a seminal composer Heinrich truly was. There was indeed music before Bach…
Prima eure tollen Stimmen. 😊
This is stunningly good. A performance like this really shows what a towering figure Schultz was. The greatest composer of his age
And it’s largely because of über-excellent groups such as Voces8 and Calmus that Schütz is quickly becoming more “mainstream” to the classical music world! It’s high time he is taking his rightful place in the pantheon of the greatest German composers. Brahms would be the first to agree BTW…
Agree. Schutz was the greatest!
Wow! You can't do any better than that! Perfect! Unique! What a deep understanding of this early baroque music! Ich konnte gar nicht genug davon bekommen. Habe es mindestens 30 Mal hintereinander angehört.
Schütz really is amazing and so is this ensemble singing it with joy and energy instead of being too serene and reverential.
Terrific!
Jetzt und immerdar...! You did it again. Thanks & thanks.
This is art: the composition and the persormance of this wonderful ensemble.
Technically perfect, magnificent and very moving, as always.
Fantastic voices and presented with feeling for the Schuetz time and declamation. Bravo
Das ist fantastisch!!!
Hi from Québec, Canada!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If anything makes me happy, it is this!
What a heavenly sound. Absolutely spellbound through this beautiful piece. Thank you Voces 8 😊😇😇😇
I am so grateful to see and hear these videos. Thank you! Ausgezeichnet !!
A wonderful all round performance, musically, presentation, smiling faces and the setting.
Sang this song back in the day when I was a soprano in a boys' choir. The score was a copy of a copy, and the text was in fraktur. I managed to decipher most of it, except the word "Hitz", so thank you for clearing up that 35-year-old mystery!
Wow! What a memory ❤️
Hej, Helge! Nice to read about your memories. I also sang the motet as a boy (like all the others from "Geistliche Chormusik 1648"). Many texts were incomprehensible to me as a German-speaking child, because not only the language images changed, but also the use of some words.
"...und bleibt nichts vor ihrer Hitz' verborgen" means: "And nothing remains hidden from her heat" when speaking of the sun, which rises, orbits and sets at one end of the sky day by day. It is no coincidence that the music in this part (2:14) sounds for only a few moment like a clockwork, with the voices running at different speeds to indicate: The Lord reliably makes sure that the sun rises every day. Everyone feels their warmth.
Brilliantly composed. (Imbued with a belief in something good. In a miserable time, during the Thirty Years' War and the plague, which also afflicted Dresden at the time.)
Bravissimo 👏
Stunningly beautiful.
Excellent!!
Unfailing spirit and exhuberance! As ever a joy to listen to.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I would love to see what goes into learning and practicing new pieces. They fascinate me. Extraordinary.
I don't have enough ink in my inkwell, nor rhetorical capacity to describe my gratitude and feeling towards your singing.......! So, thanks, thanks, a million thanks!
A ray of light in the tired dungeon of life.
So beautiful!
Chillingly beautiful - thank you all.
Beautiful!
