That's fantastic. Had no idea it was that simple. I did not take it apart yet and was just thinking about buying an assembly until I came across this video. Definitely saved me some money thank you!!
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
Thanks so much! My grandfather wanted help with his but me having no experience went looking for some help. The first video I watched didn't do anything beneficial. We got it done with your instruction and I thank you :)
I tried this on my own without success, but after watching your video I got the magic ingredient of winding that spool counterclockwise six times, so thank you.
If you find that the pull you have after you complete this is too short then you could wind it 7 or 8 times. But good deal. All that matters is its working!
Just used this video to replace my Stihl cord on my KM 56 RC - was very easy. I got my 12 year old to help and learn and he liked being a part of it all. Thanks
I found this very helpful when repairing my broken rip cord on my Stihl trimmer. Thanks for posting. I do have one suggestion, though: to guide the cord through the hole in the cover and through the handle, I used some masking tape to create an aglet at the end of the cord so the cord would more easily feed through the 2 holes.
Well, thank you. I managed it. Aside from the show-off thing with tying the knot, very instructive. (I notice you do not show your technique!) Myself, after the fourth time I lost hold of the pulley, found a piece of wood shim and wedged it in place. The rest was, relatively, cake, and the trimmer starts.
Thank You, I used my teeth to help grab ahold to the string since my hand was tied up holding the spring in the housing. However, you got it and thats all that matters!
6:00 Thanks. i fix engine stuff, gens to mowers, etc. Got a friends' Stihl fs 40 c and the pull mechanism was seized. Took those 3 torx 20 screws out, and pop goes the spring. It unwound, so now i got a cover, an unwound spring, and a rope on a handle. Any ideas, on how to 'rewind' that flat spring ? thanks, in advance for any education, SIR. from alberta canada.
Thank u for making this video thank u for you're time n info hello from south texas as far south as u can go the valley home of many things including bad a.. south Padre Island the king of Beaches
I know whereof you speak, and it does take a little jockeying around; mostly making sure the housing is all the way tightly back in place, and tugging the string to check whether it is engaged with the sprocket.
I watched your video, great video! However, I couldn’t find a specific video for what I have a different problem trying to get my STIHL FS 56 RC started due to the rope feels no tensions until after a few pulls and then finally rope started feeling tension so that’s when I was able to start an engine. Is there a tensioner or spring part inside the rope spinner? I need to find out how to fix it. Thanks!
Hello, I’m not great with terminology but my problem isn’t that the cord won’t recoil back, it’s that the the white part that turns from the cord being pulled won’t start the engine. Any help?
My FS-80 needs a new carb. I can’t locate one. After speaking with a Stihl rep, he gave me a model # of 41121200611. He said it was Teikei. However, when I looked at the carb it had this on it: OK10N, I think. This is a line trimmer or brush cutter. Also, it is model #5243025. Can you help me locate a carb or at least a diaphragm?
Wow great idea man, very impressed
Brilliant, most other videos they are disassembling the clock spring, clips etc., you made this look very easy. Thanks

Great job Ryan. You made that look too easy man. I'm sure this will come in handy!
Thank You, I appreciate it.
@@Fentertainment Anytime man. And you right, the humidity has been rough last couple of days.
That was excellent! Thank you.
Well done! Thank you so much!
You know you could have wound it after you got the string into the disk so you didn't have to keep tension on it the whole time
you are correct. just did this. so much easier to do. thanks.
Good video.
Thanks. Very helpful.
Huge help. Thanks
Thanks for the help man! Go Clemson! I'm from Spartanburg

What size cord do you use on the stihl

Genius!
I had a cover on the white part. How do I get that off?
Is the us40 cover the same?
How to change the piece that goes on to???
What length is the pull rope?
Is that 3mm string?
lol about to change mine. Where in SC ?

you left off string spring and sleave under handle!
Was the tool at 1:00 supposed to have come with my weed eater? Because I can' t find it online. Is he calling it a Stihl tool or a steel tool?
Yes, They come with the weedeaters when you purchase them new. Your local stihl dealer will have them.
@@Fentertainment I don't think mine did, but it's 9 or 10 years old.
Is this an easy start model?
Never say how long the string needs to be
