I commented on another video that this port could be used for a camera that enables augmented reality, which I think could be a big push for Nintendo this coming generation. However, that does seem too fragile of a setup for a system that is largely geared towards kids. I guess time will tell.
If theres a camera attachment it would probably sit flush with the back instead of sticking out of the top, wouldn't be as fragile that way.
It’s definitely gonna have a gimmick… It probably just won’t be the “selling point” of the console like the Wii, DS, 3DS and WiiU all had

I think it may be the DLSS and a variety of attachable accessories.
Most likely the main thing about this is attachments that can go on top. I think Nintendo will also make a push to more toy like things similar to the Mario Kart live or the Labo sets. But a lot more solidified. Other things that could come from this, an additional smaller screen that can go on top, a mic attachment for better audio, camera attachment, and possible VR and AR capabilities if they want to pursue that.
My only issue would be prices cause if they make each 100 dollars then that can get pricey fast. Also I don’t think it would be a flimsy thing on top, they can make clips to attach to the side of the screen to keep it steady. Ether way, it can be real interesting with the possibilities.

Pint perfect mouse tracking and that isn’t a sales gimmick it’s just a tech Nintendo would use same apples to the new gen analog sticks they may be using again mouse perfect and maybe heptic feedback
Miyamoto said in an interview with Famitsu earlier this week in which he said that Nintendo strives to be unique and not focus on graphics that much. I feel like him saying this now when people are just expecting a more powerful switch isn’t a coincidence.

I think the reason the gimmick hasn't leaked is cause Nintendo hasn't told 3rd parties what the gimmick is and won't tell them until after it's public. They don't need to tell them cos they don't need to know the gimmick for day 1 games.
It's very easy to make a dev kit that has the upgraded processor but doesn't have the gimmick, then later they send out new dev kits when they're ready for 3rd parties to have access.
And I agree, i think the gimmick isn't just a camera, it's the USB C port in general and all the different attachment possibilities it allows, including maybe a VR/AR headset possibly one day, among many other possibilities
Honestly bro ur kinda young, I bet ur first Nintendo system was the Wii, I guess what I’m trying to say is you where born into the era when Nintendo started to do gimmicks, now you could argue is that the Nintendo had the virtual boy, but at the end of the day that was an accessory, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and GameCube, they where just consoles bro. They had cool accessories but they had no gimmicks. It didn’t start till the Wii era, it could just be a beefed up switch with an extra accessory. We won’t know till it’s out. Nintendo back than was not the Nintendo you know now. Also there’s been at least 2 games for switch, where they where just camera games, which is Pokémon snap and fatal frame, an all camera game is nothing new. Nintendo Switch Attach, Nintendo Switch + or Nintendo Switch OS ?
Nintendo Switch Attach sounds the best out of those tree.
Nintendo Switch Plus sounds like just an accessory, so bad marketing like the Wii U.
Nintendo Switch OS will just make people think you're talking about the operational system the Switch uses.
Maybe it's reverse sensorbar, where the camera tracks your joy con instead of the Wii Remote tracking the infrared lights on the sensorbar, so we can play with pointers again, and in tabletop mode!
I doubt it would just be a camera I’m guessing a modular system with multiple attachments. I.e. dual screen,sensor bar, etc.
I imagine the gimmick is that you can "attatch" tons of peripherals to the top. Camera, another screen, and who knows what else.
I think that USB C on the top is potentially for a variety of attachments.

I don’t think it would “just” be a camera, otherwise they’d integrate it like with other consoles that were smaller and cheaper. I think it could have a camera, but it’s a device that benefits from being attached AND disconnected. And I don’t think Nintendo would launch a console with an optional hardware accessory (outside a pro controller). The gimmicks are part of or bundled with the console to show it’s new. If it’s optional, it’s not really a feature you can differentiate the system with. That would be like having the Wii with the classic controller as the bundled one and the wiimote as optional. It doesn’t really work. Not like people bought the Switch for the IR camera, but it’s something every user (or developer) has access to.
I think its got a USB C to provide for a variety of attachments.
Imagine they actually call it Switch Attach, because of that one feature.

I actually think it does have a good chance because attaching the joycons now and likely attaching a accessory to that USB C port.
I'm open to the modular design, but I don't see the point in bringing cameras back.

I hope we do see a unique feature one way or another, but I hope they don’t go crazy with it. The last thing I’d want is another Nintendo Land situation where it’s a fantastic game that is born to live and die on a console with no clear way to bring forward again in the future.
I want y'all to remember something, the Nintendo switch was supposed to be the 3D's successor, but very late in development, they removed the dual screen, they made the system more powerful and most importantly they implemented the "hybrid console" gimmick

A Wi-Fi tester does a great speculation video. I think the wearable puck that will likely communicate with camera slotted into the usb-c could create a glasses free 3d effect. It may have a surround sound component to it too if it s clipped onto back of shirt collar. If you look up Wii sensor 3d effect on RUclips you can see Johnny Lee creating mind boggling 3d simply by attaching Wii sensor bar to headset. Reversing the natural set up. What is interesting the wearable puck tracks position exactly in the same manner.

Ah yes, I remember when the 3DS had that watch attachment for the Yo-Kai watch games. What a good and very real accessory that existed.
Jokes aside, I certainly think some weird camera port is possible, but I thought rumors existed for microphone functionality. So it could be a mic attachment port.
Or, of course, it could just be the gimmick is… the same thing, but again. You say they almost always have a gimmick an awful lot, which invites thinking there has to be a gimmick when there isn’t one. Like, I dunno if NES to SNES had some central gimmick or not, but I could see them just iterating, since the Switch REALLY worked for them.
Or there could be a gimmick which is meant to help Switch 2 stand out. Can’t really say either way, until we finally see the dang thing.
I don't see them relying on a USB port for their gimmick. If they have something planned it'll be built into the system.

Why would they have a USB C port on the top otherwise. People are suggesting charging or Dev kits but neither of those would need it.
