As a non English fan, your main issue is Gareth. You have the squad, but lack a plan B, C or D. Gareth runs the side like a lower table team not wanting to lose, when in reality in Tournament football, you need to take risks
The weakest part of the England team is Southgate , he's got no tactical sense , he picks favorites , managers who pick favorites only do it for one reason and that is they dont know what else to do .
Get Klopp or Pep or Jose or Carlo. We need a serial winner boss to turn silver into gold. I saw 1990 & 96. This is much better than a semi loss on pens. We mainly lost cuz we failed to sub on Trent. The only great long ball passer 3 🦁 have. Bobby Robson made the same mistake by not building his 1986 & 1990 teams around Hoddle Kobbie played poorly & Kane was brave but his injured back held him back. Guehi caused the 2nd Spain goal via a bad long ball turnover & pickfords saves were very good but his passing long balls were poor. U can't win big cups with 34% possession. U need at least 40%. Spain extra day of rest & fresh starters in Defence after yellow card bans made a big difference in aiding Spain. Nice Gareth was not as brave as Sir Alf, who dropped unfit world-class Greaves to win 1966 WC. Harry, as an impact sub wuda been fine. The Maths Profs sent lots of messages asking for ice cole & Trent to start of be subbed on at 65 mins. Bobby Robson & Sven wasted huge talents of Hoddle & Scholes. Nice Gareth is wasting defence splitting world-class skills of TAA & Palmer. GS is too loyal to Harry & Foden & Saka & Kyle on our right flank & and Pickford, who turned over the ball many times via bad long balls. Capello said to Skys Kaveh Solekal that it was the main reason we lost to Croatia in 2018 in the Semi. Impact sub Latauro won 3 in a row cups 4 Argentina. Harry cuda been our Lautaro Martinez.

@@BasketCase-rr7tx Rubbish, the talent in the team is on par with any team in the world. The issue has been motivation and the Manager. The players consistently underperform in tournaments, but has nothing to do with talent.
Part of the problem with England is the media praising them for inept performances. Alan Shearer praising them this morning is a joke and being applauded on the front of some newspapers is an embarrassment. Call their performances out for what they were boring and negative.
Mate the fa are the problem, constantly hiring the wrong manager on purpose to tick boxes, hired hodgson instead of redknapp, hired Sven instead of keeping hoddle and never thought about hiring the likes of paisley, fagan or clough, bunch of assholes holding us back
playing kane who plays cdm you cant counter attack spain with kane in cdm. We also had no rashford or sterling who run in behind when kane comes deep. Manager is a clown kane was terrible but he was scared to drop him.
Multi billion pounds of players, and a league 2 coach picking what positions they play and tactics. That's like owning a sports car and running it on 20 years used oil and the cheapest fuel.
Another mindless sheep/ If you played more aggressively you'd beat the diddy teams by more goals sure, but you'd get pumped by good teams far worse. You lot want to go back to the days of losing to Iceland ffs 🤣 1966 was a one off piece of luck in your own back yard. SouthGOAT has been your best manager since then by far, yet you still whine and complain like spoilt children. England aren't 1970's Brazil, time for a reality check. The funny thing is in 2-4 years time you will pine for SouthGOAT when the next manager fails to qualify for big tournaments never mind get out of the group stage 🤣
@@acruzro95 And how many excellent players do the other teams have? I don't even like the English but unless you're implying that every other national team only has a couple good players, your statement makes no sense.
England had the easiest run in to the final yet they still BOTTLED it...they’re the spurs of international football. All the arrogant talk from players, pompousness, media gloating and co yet fall flat on their face, utterly embarrassing. Spain are worthy champions. Played well throughout the tournament 🏟️ 🇪🇸 🏆
Spain had plenty of luck on their run also, tournaments are a lot about luck. The final could have quite easily have had France, Germany, or Holland in it instead. But England did get another very fortunate draw that again flatters Southgate.
@@intenzityd3181 Besides maybe the Cucarella handball against Germany, what luck did they have? Kroos not getting five yellows that game? Pedri lost to injury for the rest of the tournament thanks to Kroos. Rodri getting hurt in the final. A camera man clattering into Morata's knee after the semis. Spain had Germany, France, Portugal and Belgium on their side of the bracket while England got a free pass to the final....again. Doesn't sound like luck to me. Spain dominated and controlled every game they played in.
@xenonsnedden4052 On paper? 😂 On the pitch is the only place it matters, wtf does on paper mean? I've never seen a game played on paper, it's usually grass I think 😉
It’s amazing Cucurella played about half of Chelsea’s game was often criticised and many said he was a waste of money, but turns out for Spain and plays very well, meanwhile some of the England players underperformed.
@@Trail_sniffer75 So lets never get a good manager in ever again? Different manager, different players, different era and maybe you see different results.
First ten seconds of the game…England kick off, we’re half way up the pitch and play it back to Pickford who then lumps it up giving it straight to Spain. That is a training ground rehearsed move and tells you all you need to know about Southgate
just saw a clip on twitter of 75th minute - A throw in on the edge of Spains box and Walker chooses to throw the ball all the way back to Stones, who passess to Pickford and Pickford lobs it up the pitch and we lose possession. 🤦 outrageous
@@hedakom I actually remember that in the game as I went to make a brew, cursing as I went. Southgate has instilled a fear of going for it in them. It’s possession football going backwards!
@@hedakom Absolutely right. It's like you've taken it from my mouth. I was reading some of the comments before I put my own . Yes you would have thought that he would throw the ball around the penalty area like in a corner kick and let the forwards deal with it. At least we would have some chance. But no he preferred to do like their usual passes going sideways and backward. What kind of stupid play is that. I bet those BBC and ITV presenters won't say anything about that. Kane was nowhere in the game. Right from start they should be high on press up and not when Spain scores first. Also did you see any challenge from the defenders about those two goals. They should have at least run and block those shots. Only Micah on the BBC panel voiced about that as sloppy defending. No one else. Playing in a final of such importance and they threw it away. Very disappointed and gutted.
This tournament should be known as the Kane Fiasco… his insistence on picking a player that everyone else could clearly see was entirely ineffectual, and having two excellent alternatives on the bench, is the epitome of nepotistic failure,
Whenever we went behind, we looked good. Whenever we were level or ahead, we looked poor. How anyone thinks that is not down to instructions from the sideline is crazy to me
True its sometimes overlooked that teams who go 1 up in big games start to try and protect a lead and invite pressure France did the same in WC but just like France when England leveled Spain went down and got a winner and kane was off the pitch when that happened
The manager has his favourite players, and will continue to select and play them regardless of what form they are in. Certain players have been appalling every single game, and it’s down to the manager to make changes and give others an opportunity. We’ve lots of inform players on the bench, Palmer, Watkins, Gordon, Bowen, Trent etc who could’ve offered so much more given the chance.
Not just Southgate but Kane should retire from international football, he’s a liability. The team are practically playing with 10 men when he’s on the pitch.
Kane is most affective getting the ball into feet with players running off him (eg Bayern) not having 70 yard long balls constantly pumped at him by mad dog Pickford.
The level of delusion is incredible. England players aren't technically good enough. Rice gives the ball away constantly. Rodri's stand in, who most England fans have never heard of, comes in and bosses the midfield. It's clear that England players just aren't good enough. Spain pass the ball a million times better than any England player and until you can pass a ball you aren't winning anything in modern football.
It because you only watch overrated money league like epl that's why u haven't heard of them that guy who replaced Rodri is a proper baller in real sociadad 😂😂😂
It's obvious he picked the wrong team and he has had his run of games , he didn't pick a run of old and new players . He needs the sack it's obvious he ran out of ideas .
He didn’t really take any creative players. Thats why we barely scored any goals and half of the ones we did score was individual magic out of nothing.
This same Germany under Flick in Quatar looked terrible and so did Spain under Luis Enrique also at the same tournament and look and both of these teams now! England went to this final in spite of Southgate.
We still might not have been good enough with more attacking tactics but we would have stood a much better chance by playing to our strengths. A lot of this defeat is on Southgate.
It’s weird because you look at the players he took and it’s obvious that we needed to play all out attacking, direct football. It was a team full of players who want to score (besides Kane, who seems to want to flop about in midfield like a three legged donkey).
@@djdusted6485 You're clueless. The PL for over 15 years is dominated by the quality of foreign managers and players. You've been one of the 5 leagues with 60% or more foreigners for two decades => quantity. The PL isn't the benchmark, you're an import league rooted in a d,,ber football culture.
This is what you get when you massively overhype all your players. All top teams have quality squads, this narrative that England are far better than everyone is typically English. They reached the final, that’s success. Spain are a far better side
Exactly right. 1966 was a one off piece of luck when the WC was in their back yard. SouthGOAT has been their most successful manager since the 60's BY FAR, and this will only be recognised in 5-10 years time when they go back to the same old and get destroyed by any decent team. Then who will they blame? Probably the manager. Rinse and repeat.
Having the easiest side of the draw plus the best players in England, Spain and Germany last season, yet they can’t get over the line because of the tactical ineptitudes of the manager.
The Nearlly man ,he had his time, move on. Some of the players had their day like Kane. The players look good in at their Clubs that loaded with quality foreign players ie Forden, over rated over hype over there.
"Do we trust the FA to make the right decision in terms of a successor?" THIS is the root of England's problems. If England haven't won a major tournament in 58 years, you have to go beyond the manager, and look at the boardroom, just as you would with any other company. There is something very wrong at the top, and it needs investigating in my opinion.
They’ve reached multiple finals and semi finals in recent years. Not been good enough? How? It’s not like they’re competing with league 2 sides. There are other squads just as good as England, that have actually won trophies in recent years. Why do England fans have a sense of entitlement when it comes to winning trophies?
ANY English manager from league one upwards could have got to this final with this group. I'm convinced that most of them would have won it. Southgates tactics, formations, lineups and subs where all from a clueless man. He was just throwing stuff on the pitch in some games. Players playing in multiple positions in a single game, and lets ace it, he was done, we were out against Slovakia until Bellingham produced a moment of magic out of the blue. He had only made 1 sub at that point! Same against denmark but this time saka. We got a non penalty given to keep us alive vs the average dutch. Southgates strategy was - Hope the other team plays rubbish and gets no luck and that someone scores a worldie from nowhere.
Worst part is, it's not even an excellent Spain team. This isn't Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Torres, Busquets, Pique, Casillas. This Spain team is good, but the plain fact is that Portugal, Holland, Germany, France, England were all sub-standard. There were literally 0 stars in this tournament, and that's reflected by the fact that Harry Kane (who played awfully at the top of a team playing awfully) finished as joint top scorer. Not a vintage Euros. Mbappe, Ronaldo, Griezmann, Kane, Bellingham, Morata, Memphis......all flopped.

Yes but they are not France of 2018. You have to beat such teams if you are to win a trophy. England have even showed up and played well in these games but as Jordan puts it ”snatches defeat from the jaws of victory”
As soon as England kicked off and they passed straight back to Pickford I knew what type of game it was going to be. I don't understand why with a group of players like this we are unable to play possession football and dominate teams like Spain....or at least get the possession stat closer to 50-50. The 2nd Spain goal was building for 5-10 mins and the only player I could see shouting push up was Pickford.
What's the point of turning up for finals and semi-finals if you can't get over the line? How many times will Southgate and England do this? How many chances do they want?
Yeah , you're right . They shouldn't bother entering the tournament at all . What a ridiculous comment . Its not as if they deliberately lose in finals - they lost to a very good Spain side . Southgate clearly has to go but your point about ''whats the point turning up'' is stupid .

@@Sebpz8342 That's because those England teams faced difficult opposition way before the final, can you imagine Southgate getting past the 2002 Brazil team in the quarter finals?
I think Southgate would be a good manager for weaker tournament team. His tactics make it hard to score against his team. England needs a manager that goes out and creates a ton of opportunities. The attacking part of the team has always been under utilized
Jamie Carragher can relate to Southgate's situation, having spat in a little girl's face and been allowed to continue in his job as if he wasn't at fault.
England has a lot of great players, look at Spain they won the tournament without having better players because they work as a team. England needs someone who can teach them to play as a team regardless of who plays.
Let me guess you base the whole of England's "culture" off of one or two arrogant comments made by controversial pundits which most people here don't even agree with.
I don't consider myself an expert on Football merely a casual fan, however what I have noticed is that the dilema of England not winning any major international event such as the World Cup or Euros has been the situation since Alf Ramsey and 1966. Perhaps it has something to do with the managers selected by the FA for the job. Ramsey for example was apparently a tough disciplinarian and a strong willed individual who eventually fell out with the FA as did Terry Venables. Southgate to be fair has got close but not close enough with arguabaly the best squad of players England has produced. Many believe that winning a tournament where you only have one chance and can't come back next week is something that even some good Premier League managers find difficult e.g. Roy Hodgson. I don't know enough to know why England fail to achieve but I would suggest the FA (if they are capable) look into this with some application e.g. a commitee of unbiased experts and come to some honest conclusion that will help to resolve the issue. England fans deserve this.
coaching. southgate roberto martinez ten hag mourinho tell the team what shape to play. pep and de zerbi teach players how and why, which passes to make and where to move. why did i say de zerbi? spain coach plays de zerbi tactic, box build up and wingers move in and out accordingly with morata and olmo created confusion and space. it is rehearsed. every movement they made they trained for it. they play as a unit when one has the ball, 4-5 players are moving. when one england player has the ball the rest isnt moving anywhere they just jog. btw kane is a disgrace and southgate is a disgrace for starting him. he would rather lose the final then not starting kane
Agree! And it was clearly seen. Spain's manager against Germany, in the last minutes ordered his players to push up and go for goal from a stoppage. And they scored to win. Decisive instruction.
Would have had no problem leaving Kane on If the system was designed to give him service - it wasn’t!! Kane kept dropping deep and once he did that, there was no focal point or target - he had zero pace and to police him in that system had to be a very easy night for the Spanish defence
Why on earth should England beat Croatia, Italy, Colombia etc? This arrogance is what is really pulling the English back. No you shouldn’t beat these teams.
It would be a smart tactic for Gareth to walk. He's failed to deliver with his philosophy for too long. If he had any respect for England, he should walk away.
Can you imagine if Pep or Klopp were the manager - do people really think the team wouldn’t play better - we got in to two finals despite of Gareth not because of him
Typical garbage take. SouthGOAT has been your most successful manager since the 60's. You aren't 1970's Brazil or anywhere near that quality. You could have the 'best manager in the world' and Spain would still have pumped you rotten last night, probably worse because at least Gareth knows the players inside out and knows how sh1te they actually are, so he tactically adapts to cover up the sh1teness as much as possible, whereas a 'better' manager would try more 'ambitious' tactics that would completely expose the sh1teness and enhance it. This has been proven time and time again with England over the years, different players, different managers - same results. Until SouthGOAT got to 2 finals.
If England had a Lamine... Gareth would never play him. It's no wonder players like Olise and Musiala rejected England... Ben White already knew he would get 0 minutes so quit the National Team because Southgate has his favourites!
England are not good enough because quite frankly they're a Seriously Over Rated Football Nation who rank well behind countries like France, Spain, Germany, Italy etc for International silverware. The English players like Foden, Rice, Bellingham, Kane, Saka etc are only a pale shadow of themselves playing for England because at club level they look so much better playing alongside their foreign colleagues under their foreign manager on a weekly basis. As for this "It's Coming Home" Bullshit, I have to see it to believe it.

English people need to stop over hyping thier players. Other countries also has top players. I heard people even saying Rice is better than Rodri. Maino has 100 % passing accuracy 😅.
English people can hype their however they want as any other country, why do you have a problem with that? You never watch German or Italian news they also hype their own player.
The final straw for me was when I think it was the second game of the tournament and Gareth said " it's still an experiment" If you're still experimenting IN a tournament then you're tactically wanting.
Context is always everything- when Porto won the champions league in 2004 it sounded like a miracle but the detail showed they overcame Monaco partizan, Marseille, Lyon, depor, and beat a united team due to a late goalkeeping howler… ultimately the detail shows a favourable draw but you can only beat who’s in front of you.
An average Germany is the best opponent we have beaten in any knock out game with Southgate, we have been very lucky to get as far as we have and ultimately been beaten every time by a nation arguably better than us like France, Italy and Spain. You cannot win a tournament without beating a top team and we have been found out every tournament!
"Their second goal was millimeters onside". Or, to put it another way, Spain scored a second goal and England did not. :England had a chance cleared off the line". Or, to put it another way, Spain not only attacked better than England, but defended better as well.
And this is exactly the problem all through the tournament England only showed any teeth (attack) when they went behind and looked good doing it but as soon as England drew level again it went back to a very negative defensive line, too many times did England get lucky and managed to pull a deficit back, Against Spain as you quoted the luck run out, The bottom line is that England squad is capable to put away any international side but they have been hindered and by a very poor manager that is adverse to letting the reigns go and allowing the players to actually play and perform, Bad tactics and very bad 1970's play style the long balls were a joke with the quality this squad has, Southgate is out of his depth and would not be a success in the EFL let alone the Premiership.
Can someone name me a premiership team that would have Gareth Southgate and he would walk into and manage? that's the manager of the national team, someone who might walk into a team that are fighting relegation and that's a big ask! someone who will go onto to manage a championship team possibly? and the people running the game.... the FA want to keep him!!!!!!! seriously WTF
Southgate has had the best squad of players in the tournament and he has failed again. Time to get strong and get someone in who has actually won something as a manager. My main issue is that the President of the Football Association is Prince William, based on him being born into a certain family. The FA need a restructure from top to bottom. As things stand, it is a $hitshow.
Yes simon said england would win 😂😂😂😂 When will the English media and some fans realise that it never comes home because they are simply not good enough ever
It'll be sods law the next boss gets a tough draw in 2026 and gets dumped out early in the competition through no real fault of his own, then everyone will be singing Southgate's praises. Klopp would be my choice and his comments about his workload at Liverpool suggests he might seriously consider an International job.
kane is selfish like that as well, did the exact same thing to Spurs. Would rather declare himself available to play at the detriment of the team than admit it would be better if he didn't
Oh you mean the match that England won by 2 goal margin? Or do you mean the match in 1970 that West Germany won 3-2 due to bad refeering? Are all foreigners as stupid as you?
Spain have got a manager who has won at every level! Knows how to set a team up. Southgate has done brilliant and steadied the ship but now its time to let a winner take the helm
First half we sit back with no offensive play, second half they score, England then attempt some offensive play with no joy, we eventually make subs, first Watkins then Palmer, the high press and offensive play starts to work and Spain look vulnerable, we score the equaliser.....the whole team then retreats back to the halfway line and Spain settle back into their passing game under no pressure, last 10 mins and we see Trips and Gallagher are about to come on....that is the moment that perfectly sums up the mindset of Southgate.
To answer Simon Jordan's question "Why are they excelling in their sides domestically but not internationally". That answer is very simple - because Foden for example is surrounded by players like Rodri, Haaland, De Bruyne, Alvaraz, Bernardo Silva - i.e not English players.
And yet at Man City he is the equal of any of them. Good managers make teams better than the sum of their parts. Poor managers like Southgate make teams less. If Southgate swapped out Foden for Rodri, De Bruyne or De Silva they'd look just as bad.

Simon did put it quite rightly. You know other teams will get better, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, maybe even the Netherlands. But is England gonna get better ? Most likely no, because England should already been at its peak by now, it is same team since at least 4 years
There needs to be a stop on this notion England have world class players. Who are they? What have they done to be labelled world class? 1 good season in Madrid? 1 champions league at City? Being continuous runners up at Arsenal? Being a great goalscorer with an empty trophy cabinet? Does this qualify as World Class???😂
To your point. I’ve not watched much if Bellingham so just heard the hype. Thought I was going to see a top class player but he was so disappointing. Ok overhead kick to save their bacon against Slovakia but that would hardly merit a title of world class. Totally over hyped like the rest of them. Not their fault, it’s the English media but they and the pundits seem to buy into it. I wouldn’t replace any of the Spanish, German, Croatian, Portuguese or French players with English. Well maybe Ronaldo as he does nothing these days.
Its obviously a mixture of factors, but one of the main things compared to other teams is a balanced system over talented individuals. Bellinghame, Kane etc are surrounded by players and a system at their clubs that play to their strengths and mask their weakenesses. I'm not an England fan but there always seems to be a view that just pick all your best players and it will work, whereas the top teams always have better balance. Look at the Spain midfield, maybe not the same 'attacking' talent as England but far smarter positional sense and ability to retain the ball. And their wide players, full backs and forwards far more effective together at opening teams up rather the on paper talent that Engalnd had in their squad.
Southgate should be replaced by Mauricio Pochettino as he's available, better then any of the possible English managers, basically Potter or Howe, and has extensive Premier League experience.
I agree with Simon. The 2020 Euros was a home comp for England 6 out of 7 games at Wembley. Everytime they come up against a top nation in a comp they FAIL CROATIA, ITALY, FRANCE AND SPAIN, The round is irrelevant it's about winning trophies
If I think back to Southgate's truly great performances as England manager then the only match that springs to mind is the 3-2 vs Spain in the Nations League a few years ago. If I apply the same thinking to Sven Goran Eriksson then my mind goes to the 5-1 vs Germany in Munich and the 1-0 vs Argentina at the '02 world cup. So Sven - a manager much maligned - has twice as many brilliant managerial performances than the much-hailed Gareth. So what conclusions can we draw? Well it's simple. Southgate has profited from some hugely fortunate draws and that they paper over the cracks.
Southgate wouldn't have gotten anywhere in Sven's era. Back then, national teams were stacked. You had Portugal with Figo, Ronaldo, Rui Costa, Pauleta, Ricardo Carvalho and Deco. That's who Sven lost to, and there's no shame in that. (Twice.) He also went out to a Brazil of Ronaldo/Ronaldinho/Rivaldo. Again, no shame, and no way Southgate gets passed them either. This is probably the worst period in international footballing history, and only Argentina will be a side remembered in fifty years or so.
Spot on about the dearth of quality opposition the last few tournaments which has let Southgates England flatter to deceive. Most of the other managers in the Euros would have loved to have had a squad good as England had.
Worrying thing is Southgate saying which players he was sad not to have, Kelvin , McGuire, and Henderson, all defensive.and Kain says he will fight on 😮😢
It is true, England's player of the tournament for the last couple competitions has been "the good side of the draw". Just look at this Euro's, Spain pretty much faced every team that has ever won a world cup. England's side? No former world cup winners, until they met Spain. Says it all.
We forget (unsurprisingly) how good actually winning something feels. Remember the women's team? That team had more fight and spirit than the men's team could dream of. Wait! Hang on. That was a foreign manager wasn't it?

The problem is the narrative around Kane. He plays poor but the media have been told to make an excuse that he must be injured. Stop the propaganda about Kane and tell the world how rubbish he really is.
Kane was unfit and lethargic a lot of the time. Players on the wings ready to cross but Kane was outside penalty box. Should have played Watkins from the start.
Why do u say he was unfit ? Was there a confirmed injury (rumours about a back injury are just that , rumours ). Was he tired ? Rodri played more games , was he tired ?
I wouldn't say there was that many crossing opportunities and those that did go in weren't great. I wouldn't be too hard on Kane. Southgate plays containment football whereby we hardly create any chances and instead rely on "moments" to bale us out.

Fundamental,y , many English players ( Rice , Trippier , Shaw , Gallagher - oh my - Kane , Geuyhi , … lack real technical ability . Nearly every Spanish player is superior in ball handling skills when it matters … it matters when the pace goes up ( England hard,y can up the pace anyway ) or when it becomes more risky ( vertical passing ). Can’t remember Rice given a vertical quality pass . Rodri does it with his eyes closed .
I'm glad they have brought up this issue of trusting the FA to pick the right replacement if they did go that way. In my time there have been so many poor appointments. Taylor, Keegan (all passion no tactics), McLaren, Hodgson, Allardyce. Even Capello seemed like the wrong fit despite being a successful club coach. They haven't a clue about football.
on the plus side, Messi won his 2nd Copa America in a row and Argentina won their 4th major trophy in a row putting them level with Spain as the 2 greatest International dynasties ever... whilst Ronaldo was at home paying media outlets to make out he is even relevant
a proper manager for what ? You think they will go to another final in your lifetime ? You must not know how numbers work, they had their chance, its gone. Youll have to wait 1-2 generaitons of players at least.
We need a manager who is strong enough to say it’s one or the other not both. We had the same problem with lampard and Gerard as we have now with Bellingham and Foden. The best teams don’t try to incorporate eleven superstars just because of pressure they make the best team and use top top players as subs, look at who Spain bought on for Rodri a top player but they don’t change to a three man midfield to make him fit.
Imagine any other business where the CEO can decide if he stay or goes having never delivered. Its absurd that the highest paid manager in the WORLD can doddle along without consequence.
Ceding control of a game to elite opposition like Spain who dominate possession and passing stats is no way to win major championships. Until England can replicate what Spain do on a football field they won't win anything.

Very reasonable argument, hence why the FA will not read this.

Assistant manager at best
Southgate has had the best squad of players in the tournament and he has failed again. Time to get strong and get someone in who has actually won something as a manager. My main issue is that the President of the Football Association is Prince William, based on him being born into a certain family. The FA need a restructure from top to bottom. As things stand, it is a $hitshow.
Yes simon said england would win 😂😂😂😂
When will the English media and some fans realise that it never comes home because they are simply not good enough ever
England just needs a top class manager
It'll be sods law the next boss gets a tough draw in 2026 and gets dumped out early in the competition through no real fault of his own, then everyone will be singing Southgate's praises. Klopp would be my choice and his comments about his workload at Liverpool suggests he might seriously consider an International job.
Playing an obviously injured Kane says it all.
kane is selfish like that as well, did the exact same thing to Spurs. Would rather declare himself available to play at the detriment of the team than admit it would be better if he didn't
Employ Johan Erasmus as a consultant. He may not coach teams that win every game, but he knows how to manage tournament winning teams.
I think England were cursed since they won that World Cup with a goal that never went in.
They didn't win it with *that* goal though. Geoff Hurst scored another after to seal victory 4-2
Oh you mean the match that England won by 2 goal margin? Or do you mean the match in 1970 that West Germany won 3-2 due to bad refeering? Are all foreigners as stupid as you?
Yes agreed , computer graphic shows the ball had not crossed the line. So technically Germany won the game.
Spain have got a manager who has won at every level! Knows how to set a team up. Southgate has done brilliant and steadied the ship but now its time to let a winner take the helm
Southgate done "Brilliant" ?? you would polish a turd you.......... oh you just did.
The Spurs of international football do it again, there was never any doubt 😂😂😂
stop bringing spurs into it, idiot
Grassroot football in England is not good.

Does this qualify as World Class???😂
tell them
I think the foreign premier league players make the England players look better at club level 🤔
Most of the premier league top players r foreign not English that's an issue as well 🤨
To your point.
Trent’s englands best player, he’d walk into any other nation’s international team.
(Twice.)
He also went out to a Brazil of Ronaldo/Ronaldinho/Rivaldo. Again, no shame, and no way Southgate gets passed them either. This is probably the worst period in international footballing history, and only Argentina will be a side remembered in fifty years or so.
Imagine Southgate trying to take on the 2002 Brazil team like Sven did, that'd be a laugh...
Spot on about the dearth of quality opposition the last few tournaments which has let Southgates England flatter to deceive. Most of the other managers in the Euros would have loved to have had a squad good as England had.
England were playing against 12. 11 Spaniards and Southgate.
Actually it was 10 against 12, if you count Kane as a liability, which he was.
It's Wise to Change the Coach and try a manager who has done management at Club Level

@@petersavage5885 but such argument confirms the archaic style of englands football. Play the ball around a bit , then a cross in the box and the striker or anyone taller 1.84 m ( so to speak ) will do something with it
Of course u have get into the box to score but in modern football this happens in totally different ways . Englands mindset ( look at Pickford and his horrible passing ) is just high balls in the box . Not how city plays , Barcelona , Bayern , arsenal , Madrid . Definitely not how Spain played .
There is no variety nor creativity in Englands game . With a statue upfront , there is zero combination football where it matters .
Solution …. Crosses .

We need to focus on a new midfield Mainoo and Wharton should be given 2 years of international experience
