    Fishman pickups have been a game-changer for me. Love them.

    i have exactly the same guitar. i love it too, but like you i find the pickups can be noisy if there's a lot of electromagnetic interference around. very interesting to hear the different voicings with these pickups, i thought the neck in single coil mode was lovely. you've got me thinking about switching mine out now! thanks for taking the time to make the vid, bill!

    Neck pickup vintage or single coil did it for me... I have a Fishman in one of my acoustics. ....truly either way, new pickups couped with the player..yep. ☺

    Greetings, it is possible for you to record a video playing a fretless bass.
    For me it is one of the most beautiful musical instrument that exists and also has a great potential to extract a more ethereal sound.

      add that to a baritone guitar and you have something really amazing.

    Very nice video! How is the feel of these pickups? Is it the same to other noisy P90?
    I had an experience with Fishman humbuckers and they felt a little different to usual humbuckers: more compressed, more "mix ready", I don't know, different.
    What can you tell about these pickups?

    I see you used only one tone pot and one volume pot. I have a thinline, I was going to do the same thing. The tone pots only have the push pull. How did you get the volume to be push pull. The wiring diagram is for two tones and two volumes. Can't find wiring diagram for just two pots

    Here's another mod idea: replace the pickup selector with a blend knob

  • @samseitz9937

    How did you manage noise before with the old pickups? Did you use noise gates or plugins?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  Год назад +5

      If you put the pickup selector to the middle position (both pickups on), the pickups' hum cancels out. So, I generally left it in. the middle position! 🙂

    Overwound sounds a little crunchier, with a bit of compression.

    Would these pickups work well for down tuned metal? Ive been thinking of buying some of these for my jazzmaster baritone

    • @supermario2100
      @supermario2100 Год назад +1

      These won't fit in a Jazzmaster route, but Fender and several companies make Jazzmaster-sized humbuckers

      Sure! Just head over to the Fishman website and go to the product page for these pickups. There is a full set of manuals and wiring diagrams. That's what Chris and I used!

    One thing I noticed over all the years is that you play the same notes and chords. How much theory do you know? Scales? Chords? Just curious. Not criticizing.

    • @Ebusje

      Yeah, similar critique here. You're not doing yourself and these pickups a service by playing the same riff for 6 minutes, that gets boring really quick. Use your whole pedalboard to show many different sounds, and beautiful tones. I love your chanel, but I do not like this way of presenting pickups.

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  Год назад +2

      I get what you are saying about the repetitive simple riff, however, I really wanted the focus to be on the hearing the tone of the pickups with minimal effects. I plan on using this guitar a lot for upcoming videos, so the pickups will have a chance to shine in different effects combinations for sure.
