Lendvai Ildikó (1946-) magyar politikus. 1974-ben lépett be az Magyar Szocialista Munkáspártba, és a KISZ Központi Bizottságában dolgozott, később az MSZMP Központi Bizottságában volt osztályvezető-helyettes. 1989-ben a Magyar Szocialista Párt alapító tagja. 1994-től 2014-ig országgyűlési képviselő, 2002 és 2009 között a Magyar Szocialista Párt frakcióvezetője, 2009-től 2010-ig a párt elnöke. 2013-ban bejelentette, a választásokon már nem fog indulni, kiszáll a parlamenti munkából. A parlamentből való távozása után rendszeresen publikálni kezdett.
2004. december 5-én Magyarországon két kérdésben tartottak országos ügydöntő népszavazást. Az egyik így szólt: "Akarja-e, hogy az Országgyűlés törvényt alkosson arról, hogy kedvezményes honosítással - kérelmére - magyar állampolgárságot [...] a magát magyar nemzetiségűnek valló, nem Magyarországon lakó, nem magyar állampolgár [...]?" A kérdésben erős törésvonal keletkezett a két politikai pólus között, a vita teljesen elmérgesedett.
Végül a népszavazás eredménytelen lett, amit sok határon túli magyar személyes csalódásként élt meg; mások viszont továbbra is úgy értelmezték, hogy az állampolgárság és a nemzetiség két külön dolog, ezeket hiba lenne összekeverni vagy azonosítani.
Az MSZP elnökeként mondott beszédet az Romániai Magyar Demokrata Szövetség (RMDSZ) kongresszusán, 2009-ben, Kolozsváron. Megpróbálja elnyerni a helyi képviselők jóindulatát, többször utalva a 2004-es eseményekre. Ekkor még az MSZP és az RMDSZ viszonya kifejezetten szívélyes volt, hiszen a Fidesz korábban többször is próbálta támadni az RMDSZ erdélyi pozícióit.

Ildikó Lendvai (1946-) Hungarian politician. In 1974, he joined the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party and worked in the Central Committee of the KISZ, later he was deputy head of department in the Central Committee of the MSZMP. In 1989, he was a founding member of the Hungarian Socialist Party.
She was a member of Parliament from 1994 to 2014, faction leader of the Hungarian Socialist Party between 2002 and 2009, and party president from 2009 to 2010. In 2013, he announced that he would no longer run in the elections and would withdraw from parliamentary work. After leaving parliament, he began to publish regularly.
On December 5, 2004, a national referendum was held on two issues in Hungary. One of them said: "Do you want the Parliament to enact a law on the granting of preferential naturalization - at the request - of Hungarian citizenship [...] to non-Hungarian citizens who declare themselves to be of Hungarian nationality, but do not live in Hungary [...]?" The issue created a strong fault line between the two political poles, and the debate became completely heated.
In the end, the referendum was unsuccessful, which was experienced by many Hungarians across the border as a personal disappointment; others, on the other hand, continued to interpret citizenship and nationality as two separate things, and thought that it would be a mistake to confuse or identify them.
As president of the MSZP, Lendvai gave a speech at the congress of the Romanian Hungarian Democratic Union (UDMR/RMDSZ) in 2009 in Cluj/Kolozsvár. He tries to win the goodwill of local Hungarian representatives, repeatedly referring to the events of 2004. At that time, the relationship between the MSZP and the RMDSZ was more cordial, as Fidesz had tried to attack the Transylvanian positions of the RMDSZ several times before.
