You can chant without a time limit. Part of having faith is trusting that the universe will come through even though your circumstances don't show it yet.
i have been chanting since past 1 year. trying hard to change winter into spring. facing problem since 1921. thank you for your guidence. its a big help
Just keep on keeping on. You will get through it. Sometimes when we are just starting to chant, our lives are like a hose blocked by the dirt from the winter rains. When we first start to flush out the hose, the dirt comes out first. But this will pass. Stay close to your district and get support.
Thank you Margaret. I find your talks extremely inspiring and easy to follow. (Easy but not easy; like easy to start but difficult to continue)No chanting is ever wasted. I hear that all the time. Also, no effort is ever wasted in Buddhism (I've heard this in SGI)
OMG! The universe has landed me to this, to attain more faith in him. Truly grateful to you nanny for such beautiful explanation. Thank you thank you thank you.
I estimate you so much Margaret. I'd love to know you personally one day. A big hug from Italy. And thank you again for the time you dedicate us to prepare this helpful and beautiful videos. This is the lovely kosen rufu.
Thank u very much from Australia 🇦🇺 35 year member I know shifts happen yet it can be so hard when taking time to get that break through thanks for inspiring me 💕
No, it's not harmful and you're right, no chanting is ever wasted. I just wouldn't let it replace your chanting in front of your Gohonzon. Let it be in addition.
Thank you so much for explaining the fundamentals of actual physical chanting, I was running out of breath simply because it seems like one long chant - this has really helped. Thank you X
Hi Pooja, It sounds as though you have a lot going on. Remember leaders are just volunteers like all of us and are doing the best they can. It's a good time to do your human revolution. I discovered that when I was upset with a leader once who wasn't doing what I thought she should be. I chanted about it. Altho I had been very tempted not to support her and let her fail, after chanting about it I decided to support her. Sometime later I learned how hard it was for her to reach out to other people to organize things, her major life challenge. My heart went out to her and I saw my lack of compassion. I suggest you chant about it.
Hi I just discovered your channel. I really appreciate the detailed advice. I just recently starting this practice with the SGI. I have not received my Gohonzon yet but I know it will happen soon. I was questioning if I was doing this right and I have been harboring some doubts. Your advice on your channel really lead me in the right direction and clarified my questions and doubts. Thank you for posting such detailed information. Sooo helpful.
As I have been involved in working with people with complex needs I am really interested in the following question: Can a deaf and blind person effectively practice Nichiren Buddhism using Braille or Sign Language? If so what does this suggest about the need for verbal expression of the Daimoku and visual connection to the Gohonzon? If they are able to internally connect to their Buddha Nature and the Gohonzon that only exists within, is it really the chanting that does the work or the individuals intention and focus?
Can you please guide me on how to chant to eradicate the karma of jealousy from others, that keeps coming my way? Many thanks for your wonderful guidances as well.
Thank you Margaret .brilliant videos .I love your explanations. So much clarity. Love you I love to hear you.Any topic is meaningful in Nichiren Buddhism. 🙏🌷🙏
Hi Margaret, as a beginner my question is, is it unnecessary or harmful to chant without using the Gohonzon as focal point? Not to intentionally replace chanting to Gohonzon, but in addition to it? I hear, in videos, that no chanting is ever wasted.
Ms Margaret Blaine from today I want to work on my human revolution. can you share the methods I can go about doing it.? specifically I want to build more compassion into my heart. I tend to get angry with my mother all the time with her impatience. anyway we can build a compassionate relationship? or is withdrawal better?

I am chanting yet I feel stuck somewhere, no earning and I don't know what to do how to earn , can't go for full time job since my family needs me also they don't pay well in small town there is no part time job available here , start my own work or what I have no idea everything is so confusing and I feel caged and lost but I am chanting I will keep chanting I m good or not don't know I don't even want to know but I will keep chanting that's what I m sure about

Absolutely.. Gratitude is important and I don't think it is any accident that half of the prayers in the liturgy are prayers of gratitude. Your gratitude acknowledges the contribution of the universe.
Hi Margaret, Thanks for the guidance as always. Wanted to understand : isn't setting a deadline equal to forcing the goal...won't the universe take care of our goal when the right time comes... To quote a phrase , ''In God's own time""- as we say... How different it is and how can we set a time limit? For me personally, setting a time limit feels like trying to control.... It might even make me anxious and disappointed as time draws near and the goal is still not reached. Kindly guide .
I understand chanting, but I do not understand the concept of chanting FOR a thing. There is only Nam Myoho Renge Kyo. There is nothing about earning a bachelor’s degree or curing eczema contained in this phrase. As a procedural matter, where does one’s goal come in?
I know this is a question for Margaret but I'll just share my experience. Two years ago I had the flu for over a week. I was by myself since everyone had gone to another state. I had fever and all the symptoms related to a bad case of influenza. I did Gongyo and chanted in bed because I had no energy to get up. I chant in my car when going somewhere if I'm alone, to get to a place safely. I chant anywhere and anytime I have a chance.
You can only chant while lying down only if you are sick otherwise it is adviced to sit down in front a blank wall/Gohonzon with your back straight, eyes open and hands folded while chanting. Have a respectful attitude while chanting as if Daishonin is sitting in front of you.
You can, but I wouldn't do it as your primary session. Gongyo and chanting consitute the basis of our faith, the basis for attain our human revolution and Buddhahood. Our attitude while chanting should be focused, earnest, sincere and respectful and with all of our attention. We want to challenge any problem we are dealing with in order to turn poison into medicine. The voice does the Buddha's work.

When we chant in front of the Gohonzon, it is to change ourselves, so we can then change our environment. When we change our environment changes. You need to make a determination that you are going to chant whether you feel like it or not. Are you doing all the ways of practice? Are you going to meetings, supporting others, doing the daily practice, and studying something every day, even if it is just a paragraph from one of the encouragement books? If you are doing these things you will find that your life takes off in a positive direction. I will chant for you, but I hope you are in contact with your district, and they can support you and chant with you. We can't change someone else, only ourselves, but that shifts the whole situation.
You set a goal, what you want and chant for it. See it as you want it when it is achieved. If doubts come up let them go and go back to chanting seeing your goal as accomplished.
You can chant without a time limit. Part of having faith is trusting that the universe will come through even though your circumstances don't show it yet.
The Gohonzon is a visual representation of our relationship to the Gohonzon and is a reminder of who we are, one with that infinite mind.

Nam myoho renge kyo - chant it just as you see it.

You can listen and repeat the way it is pronounced at the beginning of each of Margaret's video.
