It amazes me, how numerous musicians trash a new Synth! You really cant/shouldn't compare a $4,000 Stage 2 Nord (for example) to a MZ-X500 Casio, in settings/parameters you can tweak and I can download directly any sound From a Nord directly into my MZ-X500 and it sounds awesome! Is it built like a Nord, or a pro Yamaha Motif Workstation? Not at all, that's how they kept the price way down, But this Synthesizer is becoming a Top performer! It's Hex Layer capabilities are amazing to say the least, you adapt really quick when you play this Synth!
Rich is arguably the best keyboard demonstrator on RUclips. Korg's loss is Casio's gain. He should be able to propel Casio to some sales gains if he stays there a while.
I love all Casio keyboards. And Rich with his demonstrations further cemented my love for Casio keyboards. Wouldn't mind owning a Casio MZ-X 500. #casioforlife
Listening to Casio on cell phone shouldn't justify how Casio sounds. Instead its how the microphone picks the sound, what setting the eq was set to in regards of sound processing, then the frequency your speaker is able to produce the sound.
It's a triumph for the preset generation that Casio is no longer the purveyor of crappy sounds. I can't believe it's not false. At least for basic presets, it now is the onus of keyboard players to sound good, not blame the fact the keyboard is branded Casio.
casio wants to come back again into the market.good luck, casio. may be it becomes a little bit of moving at the mid-range keyboard-market, for me it looks like a keyboard with some good features and i think they're on good way. with a little help from korg maybe...
I know that this is more like a low cost instrument ..but the way that the whole keys ensemble is moving down when pushing harder on keys, shows that the keys are not really very good quality... but really good sound ...
They're rugged though. Casio isn't the best line, but they can make some tough keyboards. One of mine lasted over 3 years with continuous play. I mean, long hour days almost every day. The buttons wore out before the keys did. Very tough, very resilient.
Casio should update for a new generation of wave ROMS; its sounds are reedited waveforms from 90´s CTK . I had a CTK650 and the cymbal and a lot of sounds are exactly the same-...... I bought a Yamaha MO6 for 400€ and happy now XD
At 16:27 you say, "...these two full-range speakers are aimed towards the audience, and there are four OTHER speakers aimed towards the player." I don't believe this is true. There are two speakers (high and midrange) on each side aimed towards the player. The underside of those speakers are "ported" and "DIRECT" sound towards the audience; but there are NOT any actual speakers facing the audience. The audience-facing "ported sound," although clever, is not as loud or as dynamic as the sound coming directly from the speakers. Please correct me if I am wrong...
i can't tell you cause it was discontinued long time ago so there is a limited quantity of them on earth now, and i should probably buy them all for myself...everything after that one was just a crap, similar to bontempi or portatone....LOL!
I had talked with Casio year at the Summer NAMM show in Nashville about selling these arranger keyboards. But right now I am considering Keytron. Is the Casio MZ-X300 still available and what is the difference between the Casio MZ-X300 and Casio MZ-X500?
Hmm ... all nice and shiny but it still sounds like a toy! Why casio do not focus on the actual sound engine at the first place? Do not get me wrong, i tried casio, korg, roland, yamaha and couple serious synths and never was against casio. Ages ago i had and used CTK 811ex and never had a glitch, and always was happy with that but to me casio of all pricetags always sounded cheap ...
just i note to the people who is watching this review . these pages that you saw him scrolling through . not all of them full of sounds or preset styles. the fact is it's kind of limited sounds and preset styles. the rest is always left to the user to customize it . so for example the page he's viewing on screen. it shows grand Piano .. 7 pages . but the fact they are only 5 pages each has 4 sounds so that is only 20 different sounds of Piano's .. the same goes for the other sounds and preset styles .. my personal opinion i think Casio either stingy or they just got lazy. to provide the users with more real to hear preset styles .. when i do play the Accom / combined preset style the sounds that already done. sounded more and a lot electronic a lot of listeners complain that the combined sounds had that electronic feels to it like guitar or other instrument sound effects. i have to go to the editing section take a lot of sounds off . before i began to record OR play . also i like using the reverb effects and echo a lot i noticed with some of the preset styles there is some kind of lagging OR cutoffs to the sound while i'm playing .. anyway is about $1200 or a bit more i would go for $1700 or $1800 keyboard from Yamaha Model PSR 70 i believe the presets Styles and the sound quality are way better. plus Yamaha provide you with more preset styles online that you can download. and Songs as well. i can't believe Casio setting back giving no service what so ever to the users after buying . unless i'm missing out on something here .. but i own the MZ-X500 for almost a year now . so take a personal look at store first see it test it for your self in person before buying .. it looks good in the reviewer show on the screen here. but you may change your mind once you experience what they are offering in person . i owned my first Casio in 1994 i was 13 years old .. the model was Casio HT-700 - check out my channel on sound Cloud soundcloud.com/walidsoltan/sets/walid-soltan-tracks these are what i have done so far using this keyboard no much but just to give you an idea i hope that is more helpful .. ( Note ) ... I'm not as professional as the gentleman reviewing the keyboard
Thanks for the review. Ive owned several WK series. (1630, 3000, 7600, etc.) They're....ok. But you get what pay for right? My expectation is not high with this.
Phew! You sentence construction is what shall I say?.... You don’t start a sentence with “but”, and even if you do, have you ever heard about “capital letters? There is such a thing called, “effective communication”, if you care to know and rambling on and on without fullstops or comas isn’t one of them.
Casio has come a long way over the years, but the acoustic piano sounds are inferior to most other brands. EPs, strings, synths, etc, aren't bad at all. But the piano sounds are a deal breaker for me.
A lot of nice functions, but the sounds just aren't good enough. Sorry Rich, but I would prefer to see you in Korg. It's just a much better brand, with history.
Constantine Trofimov In that case he should've worked for a better brand. For example Yamaha or Roland. No one buys Casio. The ones who buy are small kids.
lo pobre y esta bien para su precio, aparte que es intuitivo y con una infinidad de fáciles configuraciones, le falta mas teclas y estaría impecable, sobre la pantalla de color esta excelente.
Casio should make another CZ-line synth! But they still keep making cheese romplers that do not sell. Any Yamaha PSR kb sounds better than currently available Casio keyboards.
The MZ-X500 is pretty rich feature-wise but the MZ-X300 is a big snooze without having the hex layers and no bass synth, there is really not much else to offer for the serious money you asking. (the accompaniment are not much better than half price PSR or your own Casio) Some of the PCM sounds are indeed improved in this generation - about time ! (like the piano and strings) but vast of those 1000 sounds are still the old casio squeaky samples and gm quality tones. If the DSP is good it can be somehow masked in hex layers with it but if it is anywhere near the disaster you put in XW, then they will be utterly unusable. Just watch how the keybed flexes down during playing in the video - low quality wk keyboard ?. I like what you try to put in, but all casio have common the same thing, there is no bottom to the sound, it is all in mids and highs including bases and drums. The EQ only muddies things. I would rather buy your PX-5S or PX560 or rather anything that comes after that and has PX-5S features and 4 hex layers.
Re the accompaniments, there are many world-class accompaniment patterns on-board (e.g. Dance category). And for much wider genres, Casio recently made available another 60 patterns available as free downloads here: support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=1252 These are as good as, if not better, than most patterns available on comparable instruments from ANY brand. I also disagree with your claim the majority of sounds aren't good. Check it out.
MZ-X300, probably the most affordable pro-arranger keyboard to date. In Indonesia it costs around 6 millions IDR ($439)
I'm surprised to see Formidoni at Casio instead of Korg, but I'm happy to see him again. He's a very good demonstrator.

My first ever keyboard as a kid was a Casio CA-100 and for a kid it was so much fun to use. I wrote my first ever song on it actually :)
Great job, Rich
I like the sound and features on both
Seems like a kick-ass instrument, really cool.
The most interesting thing is that half of the comments says that it's very bad, and another one says that it's perfect ;)
comments saying this is bad are from jealous Yamaha keyboard users ...
"it's perfect" comes from those who don't even know what this is! ;-)
Most keyboard players I meet are needlessly very snobbish about thier instruments and like to bash on casio without ever really getting to know one.
Listening to Casio on cell phone shouldn't justify how Casio sounds. Instead its how the microphone picks the sound, what setting the eq was set to in regards of sound processing, then the frequency your speaker is able to produce the sound.
Korg and Rich was a great combo though!!
I know that there is a registration memory but its amazing to me how the Pads are never used for instant instruments recall.
Fun instrument, equipped with a lot of cool feature.
Love the demo. Answered my questions!
very impressive Casio. Well done
It's a triumph for the preset generation that Casio is no longer the purveyor of crappy sounds. I can't believe it's not false. At least for basic presets, it now is the onus of keyboard players to sound good, not blame the fact the keyboard is branded Casio.
Matthew Harrold
excellent demo, mr rich formidoni: I am gonna buy the x500.
rich formidoni, marco parisi...i can detect a pattern in those names...are they real?
They should have made this keyboard have 76 keys.
another copy and paste comment

When will it come in india and what will be the price? MZX300 and MZX500.
casio esta haciendo un buen trabajo ya no tiene nada que envidiarle a korg o roland...que buen teclado..
Why is Rich in Casio now? He used to work for Korg
I have Tyros 4 and Roland g70.
But this Casio keyboard is really good .
Felicitaciones casio,
Aha, you mention Indonesian. Thank you!
Keren bgt fiturnya, saya suka ini, apakah sudah masuk di Indonesia?
Would you please do a video on recording tracks? just a simple video.
Rich Formadoni from Korg to Casio
Me quedo con el 500! que belleza.
Casio MZ-X500 excellent
Sensacional.
I know that this is more like a low cost instrument ..but the way that the whole keys ensemble is moving down when pushing harder on keys, shows that the keys are not really very good quality... but really good sound ...

I also bought yamaha. It's a Moxf though
First song on the piano sound he demonstrates : *Never Gonna Give You Up*
For those who trash it, you probably didn't play it.
Amazing i love it👍

Actually there is a bass reflex speaker in the back. I have Casio mzx 500
What is the best keyboard arranger from Yamaha, Korg, Roland and Casio?
i can't tell you cause it was discontinued long time ago so there is a limited quantity of them on earth now, and i should probably buy them all for myself...everything after that one was just a crap, similar to bontempi or portatone....LOL!
criz tanto anything better than casio
I had talked with Casio year at the Summer NAMM show in Nashville about selling these arranger keyboards. But right now I am considering Keytron. Is the Casio MZ-X300 still available and what is the difference between the Casio MZ-X300 and Casio MZ-X500?
Why Do these arranger keyboards sound good on RUclips , but not when the instrument itself, actually played / heard ?
because they are compressed sounds you feel it's good sounds but in recording you will hear a poor quality unlike workstation keyboards
su4691 because those recorded audios have been edited to hell.
can you use the drawbars to mix other sounds such mixing piano and strings? If not, how to you mix sounds on the MX 300?
Great keyboard!!! High quality and low price...
MZX5000 agora Please!
Does the piano sounds the same as the PRIVIA series
Does Casio s. finger recognize two-finger septime chords now (like YAMAHA) or is it still THREE fingers for septimes?
La obsesiva insistencia de la empresa Casio, en fabricar teclados con grandes parlantes!!
Is it possible to make a rhythm in the Korg machine and transfer it fully to Casio AC7 format
Why do these keyboards always limit the track recording to 16
Hmm ... all nice and shiny but it still sounds like a toy! Why casio do not focus on the actual sound engine at the first place? Is this keyboard targeted to trance and disco genres or is it just the demo?
Rich...I thought you were with Korg?
He was, then he moved to Casio last year sometime (I think). He's a wonderful product presenter - Casio is lucky to have him.
Yeah I noticed that immediately. He was with Korg forever!

How much ?
Nice toy. £199 at Marks & Spencer ?
ben pencer?
Does it come in black?
Does the drawbar organ also send out MIDI ? Can it act as an interface for my DAW ?
Yes! the drawbar send midi. I use with kontakt
What??? Rich, I remember You demonstrating true instruments form Korg, now Casio's toys? :(
still sounds like late 90's
whatsap Jabour difference between casio px 560mbe and mzx500
Casio has come a long way over the years, but the acoustic piano sounds are inferior to most other brands. EPs, strings, synths, etc, aren't bad at all. But the piano sounds are a deal breaker for me.
I had the PX5S for a few months and didn't like it. I sold it and bought a Yamaha CP4.
What I hate , Casio push Y to chose just a piano keys !!!
still its a child for Yamaha Tyros
I want to know about Casio 7300 IN
САМОЕ ИНТЕРЕСНОЕ ЧТО ТАКИЕ БАЛАЛЛАЙКИ ПОКУПАЮТ
Casio's sound has always been a compromise. Not bad, but a long way to go.
hi, I prefer my roland Ea7,more expensive, yes.
A lot of nice functions, but the sounds just aren't good enough. Sorry Rich, but I would prefer to see you in Korg. It's just a much better brand, with history.
can the 9 sliders do EQ?
This guy worked in Korg)
so what are you trying to say, KORG kicked him out or something?
Christopher Fernandes Casio weak brand on my apenen . Ruch a a big professional.. I think casio just bought him .. is strange for me
Christopher Fernandes If he was fired its more stranger) why korg need to lose musisches like him
Constantine Trofimov In that case he should've worked for a better brand. For example Yamaha or Roland. No one buys Casio. The ones who buy are small kids.
Christopher Fernandes Why no one ) ? I am compositor and I going for buy because it's keyboard friskily convinced
for me. For my hands I mean )
lo pobre y esta bien para su precio, aparte que es intuitivo y con una infinidad de fáciles configuraciones, le falta mas teclas y estaría impecable, sobre la pantalla de color esta excelente.
Hi you are from Korg or Casio
If you read his t-shirt...
New keyboard?? Ok ok :)
Does it have a sequencer like the vfx sd?
I have one like that. And I very satisfy.
do you copy and paste this comment in all the vidoes
How to turn of it touch response
Can it do loops?
can it play mp3 files?
até Casio tem teoa de touch screen ea ROLAND so no jupter 80 é mole
wow it has gud tones
I lyk it
Still sounds like a toy to me. Casio never gets better.
About Celeviano i have no experience.
The Privia i didn't like at all. I kept it for a couple of months and then i sold it.
+JIM Entertainment who will buy costly casio keyboards just for good piano sounds which u can easily get in cheap yamaha keyboards lol
sir how much it cost
sreenivasa kharidehak 70,000₹ INR
Is this available online?? And what's the Indian price
Aadhaar Rathore the 300 is around 45-47k and the 500 is around 53-56k
awsome
How weighted are the keys?
Not really any weighting
Not supposed to be played like an 88 key piano, you do not need 88 keys for what a synthetic is used for
wouldn't go near a Casio
It still sounds like it was lacking of low frequencies. the sound is dull. :(
For almost 900 doll hairs gosh darn
Casio should make another CZ-line synth!
But they still keep making cheese romplers that do not sell.
Any Yamaha PSR kb sounds better than currently available Casio keyboards.
RPdigital agreed
le piano est sec il manque de coffre
La marca mas garra

i wish yamaha had all that features. killer features on this keyboard. but sounds like a toy. i didn't like the quality of the sounds
Oh, some of the sounds can be quite good. Check out this: soundcloud.com/bradmz/mz-x500-quartet-demo
seems and sounds like toy
haha right...i have yamaha psr
Vl. Belyaev you should establish a factory and build keyboards what you own have u ever played keyboard
Vl. Belyaev exactly
Uuuuhhhh... Nope. VZ1 was the most ambitious, if I recall... Even the CZ was ambitious in comparison.
Those were synthesizers, not arrangers. Totally different types of instruments.
does not sound like korg ;)
But it does not cost the price of a Korg friend.
this is a toy arranger. That's why
I wish Santa Claus would bring me a toy arranjer MZ-X500
ESTÚDIO F.RECORD'S lmao
I'll probably never buy a Casio. Have never liked the make
Horrible sounds. Is this a supermarket keyboard ?
