I'd go so far as to say it's your finest album. Psycho Candy was of it's time, and has stood the test of time. But this album is for this point in time right now.
Good album. So good to hear that they could make another one after "Damage & Joy". But FOR ME Darklands from 1987 will be my favourite forever. I had the LP, put it on tape for my VW Polo and heard it...today we would say...on Autorepeat on the Way every day to University. And even John Peel played every single (!) track on his shows...
@@andreeopthof376 For me personally, if I had to pick the album that's etched in time it would be Automatic. I was 21 when it came out and it was the soundtrack to my life at that time. It's still my most played album to this day. That and The Cult's Love album - my two most played albums of the last 35 years (almost 40 years now, in fact). Unbelievable.
Amazingly, the boys lost the original demo tapes for glasgow eyes which would become maybe 4 or 5 new songs so they had to start over. You can hear about it in the most recent interview with William on YT. And we got a brilliant album!

I suppose it's also possible they had a relative called Lou, who can say. The lyrics seem quite unintelligible so it's hard to draw any conclusion. There is a line about 'kids in the village' - wonder if that's referring to the village in East Kilbride (a well-known area in the band's hometown)?

The Jesus and Mary Chain are one of my favorite bands. It pains me to say that this song and Chemical Animal are the only truly great songs off Glasgow Eyes. Great to hear William sing again.
This song sounds like something from The Velvet Underground. I can not get enough of this album. Thank you William, you rock 🖤
