Answering your questions about singing in Indonesia, i think musical culture is part of our daily life. We were introduce to music on literally everthing like traditional songs, dances even religious music, i can't remember any occasion that doesn't have any music and singing on it because sometimes even on funeral we do have a worship service. There are some parts of Indonesia that known to be the place of good voice like medan, menado, ambon, papua but basically every place in Indonesia is having their own amazing talents

that's true, also i learn that they taught to interpret the song so they can incorporate they vocal colour or style to fit the song not the other way round, i think that's why the song they sang have soul and unique to that particular singer instead of just being a cover song

I can’t say about anything professional or even semi-professional, but as an Indonesian growing up in Jakarta, some kids would bring guitar at school. And every recess or whenever the teachers are not in class, somebody would take that guitar and starts singing that is then followed by the whole class. It’s a social thing, regardless of your singing ability or musicality. Those who are better singers and are good with music instrument (usually guitars and percussions) will lead the group, but for some songs it’s just and all out group sing along.
So yeah, in most times, you just need one person good in a guitar and you can have a hallway full of teenagers singing along or just jamming out.
For some, music is a passion & creativity.
For a few, music is their life.

In our elementary to high school, there's musical lesson. We learnt at least one musical instrument at school. In junior high and senior high we need to choose an extracurricular and choir is one of them. Every Monday, the choir members have to sing the national anthem during monday assembly. I remember that in my 10th grade, the music teacher asked each kid to sing in front of the class. And the other time, he'd ask us to sing while playing instrument. Basically it's like a must for us to be able to sing and play instrument.

I'm gonna try to answer the question about what singing is like in indonesia, it's like speaking, everybody singing here, not everyone good at it but it's like flowing in our life, as the musics are played everywhere there everyone will sing a long, slowly, loudly, or even only humming, at the churches we sing the bible, at the mosques we sing the Quran, at the cafe, school, bus, everywhere. but only those who know their potential and have the confidence can really take it seriously.
i loved this particular performance of agseisa and the roommate project s much. i haven't seen other works by agseisa that's comparable to the perfection of this one performance.
i think Indonesia is similar to the philippine in terms of the musical approach which is cultural and natural talent, but many of great indonesia young singers like agseisa, for example, is changed to a more generic market approach when they enter to the industry. some of them manage to back to threir original like isyana.

IMHO The culture & the dialect Indonesia are very diverse. Every culture has own kind of music. It comes so many uniqueness of accents and voices. And that makes every singer has distinctive tone of voice. It makes us never get bored to hear those singers.
My next recomendation for you is to do reaction Indonesian great singer, Barsena - back at one or one last cry or you just choose one song that you like. He sing everysong so well.

In Indonesia, kindergarten or Playground is all about singing and play. Especially the traditional songs from all of the places in Indonesia. Eventhought, we mostly don't understand the meaning of the songs (because of the different languages), we just sing them. Our parents sing lullaby for us to send us to bed. And every traditions include singing and dancing.

I think the proses is simple, they just really put all those hardwork in their heart. They sing with soul. Especially sad song, i think the pain that they felt can be manifested to their music so well. So they can learn how to put soul into the song.
