Watching the triple's flaps get deployed, with the ailerons going back up for a bit to reduce excess lift/drag before coming back down once the speed reduces further, never gets old. As always, appreciate all the hours of work in getting these up for our viewing pleasure! 👍 💯

Glad you enjoyed it my friend. The next flight is…. Um… I don’t remember. I just got back from Europe filming, and immediately had to leave for a close family member’s memorial service. I pre-scheduled videos to post every day until next week and I can’t see that list when replying to comments. And I certainly don’t remember now. So your guess is as good as mine.
Nice! Flew this jet on 2/27 LHR-CLT in MCE on the other side 28L. Spent the flight just watching the flaperon. My landing was nowhere near as smooth!

Yep, DFW is one Big Ass airport. Things really ARE bigger in Texas. I was watching the new Aquaman movie and now, I'm watching your video. We had a rain/snow mix yesterday and we're having a threat of more rain/snow showers this whole week. We're getting a winter backlash here and the El Nino may be fading and some experts think that we have another La Nina by this summer.

When I boarded the 777-300 ER of KLM in Schiphol I was expecting a longer aircraft. Looked like a 777-200 ER

I always say, I can control my seat, but I can't control those seated around me haha.
I'd be out on that wing with a scrub brush and bucket of soapy water. Though I'd have to wear suction cups on my shoes so the wind didn't blow me off.
I was thinking to myself that if I ever go on that airplane, I'd bring a few bottles of Dawn.

How crazy is that 1st delayed at the gate due making sure all luggage and other cargo are on board then delayed again due to an object in the left wing of the soon to be taxing plane on the left what an adventure you had on this flight lol 😁

I film everything on my channel with iPhones. Currently iPhone 14 Pros. I skipped the 15 due to a bug Apple had with the recording. The bug is fixed now, but tat this point I might as well just wait for the 16.

Great video bro. How do u get the 777 flight to MIA from dallas.. instead of the 737. Is there s certain time or what
American has run a couple 777’s between DFW and MIA for years now. Usually one on the morning; and one in the afternoon. You just have to look at the schedule and see which ones they are. They run a lot of flights between the two cities everyday, so most of them are on 737’s or A321’s.

Question about the filming and seat location. If I remember correctly, you hold the camera instead of mounting. Does it matter to you which side of the aircraft you sit on?
Yes, that is correct. Although I've recently found a mount that worked in most situations (vibrations were the main issue), I still hold the camera most of the time. And yes, which side of the plane I sit on is very important. Probably the most important bit of anything. See the problem becomes heat. If you are filming in 4K, the camera generates a lot of heat. It takes a lot of power to film in that quality. If you then add the sun beating down through the window too, it becomes too much for the camera to handle. Filming in 4K into the sun will not only cause your camera to overheat and shut down, but it can literally damage the device permanently. Airplanes have what are effectively double paned windows. You have the inner plastic window, and the outer (structural) window. This creates a pocket of air between the two and if you are on the sun side, it causes everything around that window to get extremely hot. Which again, will cause your camera to overheat and shut down. So, it's very important to sit on the soft light side. The opposite side to where the sun will be. Not only does this prevent your camera from overheating or being damaged, but it's also just much better to film in soft light compared to staring directly into the sun and having everything horribly backlit. Every single flight I take, I create a Word document where I compile historic flight data, the suns path through the sky compared to that historic flight data, and I even track where the sun will likely be at various different points during the flight to make sure I'll be on the best side of the plane for filming. People often leave comments on my videos like: "Man, must be nice to just fly all over the place filming..." Or, "Man I wish I could get paid to just stick a camera in a window..." But they have no idea the amount of planning and thought that does into every single flight.
I guess my question was more on the “arm fatigue” side of it but I can see how the sun affects it too. Less glare on the non-sun side too. Thanks for answering the question.

A triple 7 for that short flight???
Yes, it’s very common for large airlines to the US to use wide bodies on short flights.
First, the population base between many major US cities alone warrant the use of large aircraft. Between the Dallas and Miami areas, you’re talking about 15 million people. Just in those two markets, not including connecting traffic. That’s more between those two cities than many countries have total.
Next, is t he connecting traffic needs z. DFW and MIA are both major American hubs. They need to move a lot of passengers between those airports every day to get to final destinations that are only served from one of those two cities.
And last, sometimes airlines need to reposition aircraft for another international flight. Maybe the plane does LHR-DFW, but wouldn’t need to operate another flight out of DFW until later in the day. So, instead of letting the plane, sit there for five hours, the airline chooses to operate a flight from Dallas to Miami in that time frame, and then the plane operates Miami to London. The plan is not making money if it’s not flying.
United Airlines even has a whole sub fleet of their 777-200’s configured specifically for domestic US operations.
Those are some of the reasons why large aircraft are used domestically in the US.

How odes the American Airlines 777-200 compare to the United 777-200?
Depends on which 777 you’re comparing to at United as they have two very differently configured versions. American’s is way better than United’s domestically configured 777’s, but way worse than United’s internationally configured 777’s.
Whats scary is that no one in the comments notice the pilot error.... the landing gear was lowered before the flaps were deployed, big reg flag.....if you listen from 2:17:25.....at 2:17:30 the landing gear is lowered, you can hear the rumble, wind drag and increased vibration from this...then at 2:17:52 the flaps start to lower....I question the pilots mental state...why lower the gear which would cause rapidly decrease speed before having the planes flaps extended to stabilize the plane from decreased speed and excessive drag. The FAA may want to see this.
No one is mentioning it because there isn’t anything here that was unsafe or dangerous… These pilots didn’t do anything in “error” and there is no need to “question their mental state.” There are a myriad of situations where the landing gear may be deployed before any flaps or slats. I have been on dozens of flights where the landing gear have been deployed before any slats and flaps. This is often done when the aircraft has kept their speed up longer on approach. Deploying the landing gear is the easiest way to quickly shed speed and once the speed has been reduced, then the flaps and slats are deployed. Every approach and landing is different and there isn’t always the same exact procedure that happens at the same exact time, every time. Even just as a private pilot, I know that there are a multitude of different scenarios that could call for the landing gear to be deployed first. Plus, all commercial aircraft can fly just fine with their landing gear deployed while not having any flaps and slats deployed. This aircraft was never even remotely close to its stall speed. I appreciate you watching, but your comment is really not founded in anything and a lot of people watch my videos to overcome a fear of flying. And this comment doesn’t really do anything except give people something to worry about that doesn’t matter.
