As a lupo 1.0 Open air Owner, I approve the Realistic driving POV with Check Engine Light, I think it came as standard when purchased as a first car! At least this model had the glovebox added. Majority just have the shelf.

Init I have a lupo 1.0 I am 19 my first car. Absolutely fucking love it the check engine light has been on since I got it from watching this I am pretty sure he’s got the same problem as mine it’s the EPG but it’s not a problem really. but for a first car in the uk there perfect it’s super nippy, small but not to small so good for for parking n can still squeeze all my pals in. Had a tone on the motorway with 4 people and the car absolutely packed with holiday stuff. Can’t express enough how awesome of a car this is

I drive a 1.0, 2003, has 175000km, my grandad has used it from the beginning since it was released, to just a few days before him passing. I’ve got my driving license in February, the car was being used a little by my father and sister just to maintaining it alive. Never had a single problem, as soon as I have drove it for like 2 weeks, Check Engine Light came on. Bring it to the mechanic, he says the car is totally fine, sometimes now it goes off than turns back on. I’m actually concerned when the light switches off, but then it turns back on I feel fine.

This is the first car I'm going to see tomorrow, no features, no electrics and absolutely stock except of nice alloys and slightly lowered springs in bright flashy red. Got my license yesterday and the only thing that matters to me is to get on the road as cheaply as possible.
Sounds like my lupo. Basic no features. Only a set of alloys, lowering springs and complete pu bushes set for the suspension parts. Next to come are strut bars and a gti anti roll bar. Not a fast car but fun for winding roads.
That sounds pretty amazing for a lupo!
Prior to watching the video, I was gonna say that weather conditions fitted the Lupo 1.0 very well as it is more of a motorized umbrella than an actual car. But then it seemed to be a decent little car that's fun to drive and is significantly more capable than it appears at first glance.
Btw, not a fan of the aftermarket exhaust but the engine itself sounded healthy and happy.
I can't believe the sound of that thing!

They just make sense, specially for European cities. Compact which means easy to park which is important in European cities like Paris, economical, and just easy to live with on your daily life
VW Lupo, Fiat Punto and Panda, Mercedes A class, Peugeot 206, Renault 5 and Twingo, they're all great little cars for everyday life in Europe
In 2003 I had a beautiful Lupo in sunflower yellow and it was quite possibly been my favourite car ever, it was so incredibly well made and put together.
I had a 99 lupo as my first car too! It was the same engine (1.0 L 50ch), and let me tell you... I hated it! Sure it was well made, but man, those super soft suspensions, tones of body roll, and the power...it was so much pain... I lived in a place with a lot of steep roads, the car couldn't handle them... I one time even got stuck in a very heavy steep road (first gear wasn't enough). Had to reverse and take some speed to get through it... Also, had some issues. Speedometer died, the car stalled for no reason, very bad gaz milieage (10-12L/100km)...
@@shinpansen Oh yes, the suspension! My mum and also my girlfriend at that time used to have this car. Driving it faster than about 70 miles always felt a bit unsafe.

My Family owned 2 VW Lupos, one with 1,4 Liter and 60 HP Manual and one with 1,4 Liter and 75 HP Automatic. They were both OK but the automatic is not so good. A Friend owns a VW Lupo 1,0 50 HP and that's really crap, the 1.4 is so much faster you wouldn't expect.
@@noname-1122 the 1,4 was fitted to polo too I think, and there was some 100hp version fitted to golf surely

Moje Lupo ma taki sam kolor, i pali się ta sama kontrolka check engine :D katalizator podupada, ale chyba żadnym innym autem lepiej mi się nie jeździło, jak w gokarcie. Super filmik!

@@dziobo6663 mechanik mi mówił że to albo całkowita wymiana katalizatora, czyli jakieś plus minus tysiąc złotych (w zależności jaki katalizator), albo wrzucić emulator sondy lambda. Ułamek ceny, będzie to wtedy tylko oszukiwało komputer ale zniknie check engine, silnik nie będzie w trybie awaryjnym i będzie o wiele lepiej chodził
A jak jest chceck engine to źle działa? Bo nic nie zauważyłem. ORAZ co oznacza ułamek ceny? Ile +-

I just knew this car came as concept in early 90s from the colaboration with Swatch. So in theory, this was supposed to become the Smart City Coupe we know today, but at an early develop stage VW broke the alliance and decided to go alone with Lupo

Did you have this engine? Cos I had one too, another car yeet my back in the traffic, and insurance gave me as much money as I payed for it. Was happy as hell cos I could buy a decent car that didn't stall for no reason and took 18 fricking seconds to get to 100 km/h.

for a couple of days i drived a 2003 lupo 1.4 75hp, at low rpm engine fells nice and torquey (for the power) but higher the rpm worse was the power or almost it feel like that, over 4000 rpm engine start slowing down, almost like a diesel lol
Three cylinder? If so I think that’s why it sounds so good. Three cylinders for some reason sound amazing. Actually any odd number of cylinders tend to sound amazing, like five cylinders - the 2.5L from Volkswagen.
All Lupos have 4 cylinders according to Wikipedia, even the 1.0 liter engine

Mine (1.0 mpi) sounds like a big diesel when idling and then when driving at high rpms it sounds more like it has straight cut gears, similar to rally race cars 😂

i have a 1.4 16v with around 95hp and its a 1999 base model so it doesn't weigh anything (about 870kg) so it goes pretty good, this seems way too slow to be safe haha
