AMD made bank originally with initial value based all-rounder CPUs that weren't very good at single core CPU workloads but excelled at larger more demanding workstation workloads - Intel got complacent with its market dominance in gaming as AMD was more agile and came up with the X3D performance killers (while slowly improving single core performance) - Intel are trying to right the ship on power and temps but at the cost of their gaming market dominance - maybe technically they have done the right thing (power efficiency/temps etc)- but this launch was so hugely botched as a CPU launch that that is just compounding the problems for them.
