Sadly I have no faith in this inquiry doing much. The behaviour of most of the people involved was EXACTLY what I would have expected from government employees in the same circumstances. Lets also look more at the high level barristers and beyond the inquiry itself at the judges, yes the judges, who were delinquent in allowing POL to get away with what they did. Take the focus off the minions who were neither qualified nor equipped.

This is an enquiry with the purpose of getting to the truth. It would be up to the police to ascertain, using this as evidence if they feel appropriate, whether there is evidence to charge and the Crown Prosecution Service to give the go ahead. This enquiry is not a trial. That is why there are so many ‘I don’t recall’ as the witnesses do not wish to incriminate themselves. You’ll also notice that witnesses are hardly answering yes or no but instead answering “so in this situation’ or “what I remember about that”. They have clearly been given very good advice on how to answer questions.

If he's "just an account" the auditing the accounts and procedures should have been instigated not going along with prosecution of post masters
Unless Paula Vennells instructed him not to 🤔

@richbrown8174 He didn't have anything to do with prosecuting subpostmasters. He was asked whether Horizon was robust, and he said it was. He later found out it wasn't and his "crime" was not to go back and amend his previous advice.
He's guilty of not paying attention to an issue which only hindsight tells him he should have focused on.

It's disgraceful, before each post office representative answers the questions they look at the laptop screen in front of them and the Post Office Barrister who is listening in providing them with the answer they should give. It's like going into an exam at School with all the answers on a notepad. How on earth is this legal, it's to make sure the Post Office doesn't get sued.

What on earth are you talking about..? You do know the documents Mr Beer is asking questions about are on the screen in front of the witness, please tell me you do.

Nope they are NOT in contact with a PO defence barrister, what Mr Ismay is looking at on his screen is documents the prosecuting KC Jason Beer is referring to and making Mr Ismay read and comment on

I'm guessing the you're new to this story. Your response is typical of how false information gets reported.

On top of all of the unsavoury goings on I was deeply unimpressed by the chair being "not prepared" to work late on a Friday. Given the importance of proceedings to hundreds of wronged individuals I found this most disrespectful. An extra half hour isn’t a great deal to ask. Even worse he actually wound things up early. POETS day really shouldn’t be happening here.
