I'm using my dividend portfolio to augment my work pension so that I have less to worry about if it suddenly gets cut. I've had my share of duds, especially when I started out, but I'm settling into a portfolio where I have difficulty finding anything else to expand into. I want to live off of my dividends so that I have a growing income without drawing down much of my capital through my go-go phase of retirement but I will have some sacrificial holdings to provide for early lifestyle adjustments or emergency funding for the unknown. Thanks again Mike!
That’s my thoughts and goal exactly. Living off from dividends and just leave the shares alone. Reits, banks, pipelines, some high dividend call option etfs, some preferred etc.. now I am not sure.
Ok I’m going with NEE instead of NEP but I’m keeping TU, DMLP, VICI, and IIPR. I’m retiring next year. I need some yield. I still have plenty of low yield high growth companies mixed in with things like XEL and PEP and JNJ.
Mike ! thank you so much for all you do , do you happen to have any videos regarding Hamilton's Hyld and Hdiv? and if not what are your thoughts about it . Thank you
I don’t but they are all the same. By writing covered calls, you cap your gains. Therefore, when the market goes up, your return is capped. It gives you a great feeling of getting a high yield, but it’s mostly an illusion 😉
I’m pretty nervous when the Dividend Guy starts off with there is nothing special about dividends! Yet he runs DSR!!! Bahahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣 And there is nothing special about red wine said no Italian ever! 😂

Thanks for the pep talk!

That could work, but that could end-up in dividend cuts... we have to be careful with "generous yield" as there is no free lunch in finance.

haha! The dividend itself is not special. It's just money. It's my life's mission with DSR to explain that :-)
