I had a HOLEP procedure four months ago and I have total incontinence. I guess I am part of the 1.5% failure rate.

Patrick, I am sorry to hear this! How are you doing now and where did you have this performed? Wondering if the performing physician lacked the experience.

@@oscarthomas1974means bladder muscles aren't working. To let you pee. Catheder may be the answer . They have one you implant. You change the bags. Go once a month for checks.

@@garygrow8373 I'm in the VA health care system. I got it done at a VA hospital in Las Vegas. The procedure is pretty much painless. I did have to have a catheter until the next day. I'm still in the first month. So, still a little burning while I pee. But that to be expected for maybe a other week or so.
They did find some cancer cells in the material that was removed, but now I'm getting a MRI in the next week. The doctor and I'm are hoping it was from all removed during the hoLEP procedure and guessing he removed all of cancer cells. That were inside the prostate. It was a 3+4 gleason score, but only 10% of all the material had it.
I would still recommend the hoLEP procedure for anyone with bph issues. You will also see a little blood while you pee during the first months. Oh, also my penis also had more feeling now.
Be prepared the day when they take out the catheter. You will have a large volumes of peeing in the first 4 hours or so.

@@garygrow8373 UCLA westwood clinic in california as well as the Northeastern medical hospital in chicago . Are two top places in america to get this procedure. Those were two other places I was looking to be the hoLEP procedure. My doctor told with his history of doing thousands of this procedure convinced me of going with him.

I don't trust "testimonials" that are READ from a pre-prepared document. Amounts to nothing more than a commercial ad.

I'm not reading from a document. I'm 61 and have had 3 operations on my prostate. The first was about 10 years ago and it was the old gold standard TURP. I was peeing blood for over a month and the stinging on urination sucked. After about 5 years the tissue grew back and I needed another one. This time, with a different doctor, I had the Green Light Laser Turp. The tissue grew back about in about 5 years again and was peeing blood for about 3 weeks. Once again the stinging sucked. THIS time, I did more research and discovered that the HOLEP procedure would last longer. I just had that done July 2nd, 2024. I was in the hospital overnight and released the next day after the catheter was removed. Just like the other surgeries, I was peeing blood but for ONLY 6 days. Then it stopped. The stinging was there but after 12 days it's almost gone. The amount of tissue removed was 48 grams. just about the entire inside of my prostate which means it should take 2 or 3 decades for the tissue to grow back, if it ever does. Unlike the Turps that only remove enough tissue to create a channel for the urine to pass through. My stream is considerably better but not where I want it just yet. That could take up to 30 days I was told. Only 12 days post surgery and I feel great. No more blood. Stinging almost gone. The HOLEP procedure is SO MUCH BETTER than the other 2 Turps. If you have any questions, please ask. I don't mind sharing my experience with anyone who has an enlarged prostate and needs help.
