I do hope your pretty find is a Roman Gaming Counter! I think it is. Lovely to see you on the foreshore it keeps me going till I make it there next time. Hugs xxx
@@OLDFATHERTHAMES funny, after watching your video, I came across a few of them on Lyme Regis beach from the dump (exposed landslide in 2008). This beach is worth visiting although nothing like the Thames foreshore.
Hey Lisa! I found out it's actually from the post-medieval period, and even found a similar match. I'll share another video about it soon. Cheers to you in Cali!
Good to you again, Marie. Just came out of the hospital with ALS. It’s not a great thing to go through. They say that I have 3-5 years left. But anyway, your videos puts a smile on my face. Thank you for your labours, and see you on the next. Cheers Marie! ❤🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸
Hey Martin! I'm so sorry to hear this, it must be such a shocking thing to hear. Sending you much love and I am sure you will find a way to cope with how life is working out. I will try to do more videos in that case!! Keep smiling Martin and I'll have another video out very soon. It's a half hour one woo hoo! Best, Marie. xx
Hi Teresa! I sometimes make mosaic images from them as presents for my friends and family. I ended up giving my mother all my best pot sherds that way!
Hello! Hope your find is Roman! The pencil like piece you found that you said looks like carbon. I think it is carbon, I believe those were often used in arc welding. Cheers From North Carolina.
Thanks really interesting video, love the way from a shard you know what it is and then you show us what it would have looked like. Fingers crossed you got a Roman gaming piece, if you find out will you let us know
When approximately does feather edge pearlware date from? I recently found a piece over here in Oregon USA while looking for arrow heads. I enjoyed your video as always!
@OLDFATHERTHAMES thanks for the information, that tells me that the English pottery fragments found there probably arrived as trade goods to the Native Americans
Ah! A bit of Deja Vu,as this video appeared after the Patreon preview. That is definitely a Roman game piece, but my question is:does anyone know what the game was? The rules? Also, you must know,I,over the last 2 years have a mere 25 or so ventures out onto foreshore, each one a treasured moment,a few where I found nothing at all. There are a few things that I wish to find, and one of those things is an alley gob! I just like saying that,it doesn’t get more street British. I shall try again in 2025. Perhaps we will meet again,my friend😊
Also, that Kali offering statue,it is magnificent. I love things like that,if I ever find one,I would kneel and give respect, before leaving foreshore. I hope to find a Hanuman,my mighty Monkey King!
Charles! I am - as ever - massively behind on replying to comments (and emails for the matter!) Sending many good vibes to you and will get replying to your various communications asap!
Thank you Marie. Such a lovely video.
👍

Hi Marie, the metal object is a brick tie, I used them many times in the early days 60s 70s. Great vid and loved being with you on this one. 👍
Yes definitely, probably old. Nowadays they use wire or even plastic ones. Glad to see you back.
Hey Nigel! Ah, great, thanks for that. Weird thing, as soon as I saw this one, they started popping up all over the place!
Hey Victor! Thanks for that - I've seen some plastic ones only this week, weirdly. Never noticed them before!

I enjoyed your video Marie thank you for sharing with us.I hope you have a great week.
Hey Jimmy! Thanks for watching, I've got another 30 min video coming out soon!
That Roman gaming counter, "M", was a super find....The cavity wall tie, I used to find then in our garden when I was a child.
Loved the video. The star of the vlog for me was the tiny clay pipe, early 17th Ct. Smallest l've ever seen.
Thanks for posting, all the best, John.
Thanks for watching John! They do get smaller than that, unbelievably!
Thanks John!
Another great video. Interesting about the French Brickworks factory.
Thanks Tessa! Another one coming out soon.
Love the pipe stem!! So very nice. I really hope it is a Roman game piece. Exciting. Great video. ❤❤
Turns out it's a post-medieval cufflink gem, I'll do another video on it soon!
Always love your videos and the quietness and peacefulness
Thanks Elaine. I've got another long player coming soon. Just editing it at the moment.
The Disney dog is Goofy. Pluto (his dog weirdly) does not have the buck teeth. Thanks for the relaxing episode. 😊
Enjoyed your lark!
Thanks Jane!
It’s a modern wall tie. It’s used in cavity wall construction.🙂
Oooh! The metal bit you mean? Thanks very much William, that's good to know.
The tiny glass disc is truly magical!
It’s fun to join you all the way from California

Awesome 😎
I really like the water worn pottery fragments. it would be fun to collect lots of blue pieces & create a platter or tile a tray. thanx

Carbon rod looks like a Arc light filament - Nic found a bigger one recently
Hey Robert! Thanks, yep, I think that's exactly what it is. Funny old thing. It's good for drawing too!
I've missed your videos, good to see you.😊
Hey Vicki! Thanks for your patience, glad you're still watching! More to come in the New Year!

Hi Kim! It's not Roman, but it is post-medieval and I have found a match! Will add to my next video.
@@OLDFATHERTHAMES Post Medieval is just as good
That carbon pencil looking thing, Si or Nicola found some recently. Believe it’s used in welding.
Yes, that's right! And for fishing rods and all sorts of things.
