    Hi Marie, the metal object is a brick tie, I used them many times in the early days 60s 70s. Great vid and loved being with you on this one. 👍

      Yes definitely, probably old. Nowadays they use wire or even plastic ones. Glad to see you back.

      @@OLDFATHERTHAMES funny, after watching your video, I came across a few of them on Lyme Regis beach from the dump (exposed landslide in 2008). This beach is worth visiting although nothing like the Thames foreshore.

    That Roman gaming counter, "M", was a super find....The cavity wall tie, I used to find then in our garden when I was a child.

      Hi Teresa! I sometimes make mosaic images from them as presents for my friends and family. I ended up giving my mother all my best pot sherds that way!

    Hello! Hope your find is Roman! The pencil like piece you found that you said looks like carbon. I think it is carbon, I believe those were often used in arc welding. Cheers From North Carolina.

    Ah! A bit of Deja Vu,as this video appeared after the Patreon preview.
    That is definitely a Roman game piece,but my question is:does anyone know what the game was? The rules?
    Also,you must know,I,over the last 2 years have a mere 25 or so ventures out onto foreshore,each one a treasured moment,a few where I found nothing at all.
    There are a few things that I wish to find,and one of those things is an alley gob!
    I just like saying that,it doesn’t get more street British.
    I shall try again in 2025.
    Perhaps we will meet again,my friend😊
