      I've seen him do the notes without head vibrations in one of his older versions of this song. I think he just adds head vibrations in there to create drama and make it seem like he's struggling a bit. for performances, sometimes you have to pretend like you're straining even though these notes are easy for you so that it creates more of an impact with the audience. It'd be a boring performance if it looks too easy.

    The head movements are not voluntary. Often when he's in his upper mix (e.g. Adagio) or in high head voice AND sings quite powerful at the same time, his head starts to vibrate bc of the resonance in his skull. (He sometimes even tries to hold his head bc he wants to make it stop..) some vocal coaches pointed that out (e.g. Tara Simon in her reaction to Opera 2)
    He's not moving his jaw, it's literally his head that starts to vibrate at a certain pitch

    Hello Emi
    Through my recent month binge of Dimash I must say this is the funniest reaction video of them all and you're definitely in my top two vocal coach reactors. Your lighthearted and down to earth commentary is heavily weighed by the obvious understanding of your art. Thank you for your videos.
    I'm sure you've been told by now but the song you were asking about in your Dimash Live video is called "Love of Tired Swans". I vote to see you react/comment to it.
    If I can recommend another video for you to watch... a song I kept seeing getting reacted to that I think you'd enjoy is one by a Korean singer, Park Hyo Shin with his song "Wildflower".
    Thanks again for sharing!

    Emi, thank you so much. I was desperate for you to find out that Dimash did outdo Vitas to understand why Vitas forbade him to ever sing it again. PLEASE ignore requests to sing the song at the European Games because even people from Europe were mad about the camera only showing him 4 times. Use the one from his concert Ogni Pietra (Olimpico) Arnau where the fan cam shows him for the whole song with great audio. Please also do Dimash Screaming "Idol Hits" and wait after the song for him to talk to the audience as what he says melted my heart!!!

    • @Rosannasfriend
      @Rosannasfriend 5 лет назад +2

      The one from the Olympics is better. Especially in terms of sound quality. It doesn't matter that they shut him only four times, because it's not supposed to be about him in that moment. It's an Olympics flag bearing ceremony. Welcome to something the rest of the world has watched for many years.

    • @shanialover
      @shanialover 5 лет назад +5

      @@Rosannasfriend The whole point is to react to Dimash. There are a LOT of European reactors that are bored and frustrated watching 6 former athletes walking with a flag instead of seeing the invited singer. Check out reactions to the games and you will see then watch his performance at the concert and you will see that it is much better. Plus it is not an Olympics flag it is the European Olympic Committee flag for the games to qualify for next years Olympics.

      No, it's not a 5 octave song. He does have a 5 octave song (Kinalama) and a few songs of almost 5 octaves, but Ogni Pietra has 3 1/2

    • @JasminGardenia
      @JasminGardenia 5 лет назад +2

      I'm sorry, but no... Just think about it for a second. :) He did not use his whistle register in that song. His highest note in that song was E6 (in full head voice). 5 octaves would mean that he went down to almost the bottom of the 1st octave. (Without fry.) Do you have any idea how immensely low that is? Even most bass-baritones can't go THAT low. Dimash's lowest note so far is A1 (top of the 1st octave)

    • @JasminGardenia
      @JasminGardenia 5 лет назад +6

      Don't get me wrong. Dimash's range is MASSIVE. Even the widest in the world as far as I know (even wider than Mike Patton's), but this just wasn't a 5 octave song :) Still very impressive with respect to range and vocal colors (he switches easily from a dark and heavy baritone tone to the one of a soprano), but it's just not 5 octaves :) If you want to hear a 5 octave song of him: Kinalama :)

    Emi - A pleasure to watch your reactions - pretty, talented gal! I am a 66 yr old male in Northern California - I am of Russian background - let me give you the translation to this pretty, albeit a little melancholy song (classic Russian songs always have a little sadness in them)
    My house is completed.
    But I'n here alone..
    The door has slammed behind me...
    The autumn wind is knocking at my window
    Crying again over me...
    ...
    At night there's a storm..
    But morning brings fog
    The sun has quietly receded
    Earlier passions proceed one by one...
    Let them all gather together..
    ---Chorus---
    My house is completed,
    But I'm here alone,
    The door has slammed behind me..
    The autumn wind is knocking at my window
    Crying again over me....
    This is my fate..
    But fate I cannot ask anything of..
    Only I know that right after me...
    The winds will make their presence known....
    ----
    Chorus----

    By the way Emi, it didn't escape my attention that I have heard you match Dimash's lowest note and other than his one time D8 I have heard you match his next highest note and you definitely matched his highest note in this song. It would be fantastic if you were to get the chance to sing with him at his October concert or anytime!!!

    Dear enjoy your reaction to the fullest. You are so much fun to watch. And you make me lough. To bad Vitas wanted to take him to court so Dimash had to stop singing it. Vitas knows he took opera 2 to opera 400 all the way to the moon. You and Dimash would be a blast to watch. 😂😂😂 😁😂✌🤘👍

    The head movement helps him compensate for the power of his vibrato. His head moves likes that because the resonance is so strong.

    Hi Emi. Thank you. I've learned much about my own voice from your videos. But my area is public speaking rather than singing. I'm thinking of switching careers to singing, though, since a couple of friends have offered to pay me not to sing. That seems to me to be a much easier way to make a living rather than actually training and doing the work. I noticed your comments about Dimash's head movement. A friend of mine and his wife were over for dinner one evening last year, and I played the Dimash Opera 2 video through a projector (which made Dimash life-size) with surround sound. My friend is a structural engineer who specializes in the impact of wind, water, seismic, and sound waves on a building's skeleton. He asked me to play three sections over and over (the sections in your video at 6:00, 7:42, and 7:53). He told me the movement of Dimash's head is involuntary. He said the combination of his voice with the locked openness of his jaw and palette that act like a megaphone for the sound waves cause his entire skull to vibrate from the intensity of the resonance. He wrote out a formula on a piece of paper and spoke about sine waves and simple calculus. He saw my eyes glaze over, so I told him the formula looked really pretty and I maintained there is no such thing as "simple" calculus. So he compared Dimash's head movement to the water in the glass vibrating from the heavy T-Rex steps in Jurassic Park, or to the beams in a building vibrating from seismic activity. Your thoughts?

    you're cute yourself...i love the way you analyze and explain how he is able to do the things he does with his voice...keep it up!..love from the Philippines!..btw, please react to his newest song "Ogni Pietra" (fancam link: ruclips.net/video/8k1AHMxq-0g/видео.html) which he first performed at the 2nd European Olympics in Minsk and then in his recently concluded concert in Astana Arena titled "ARNAU"...you won't be disappointed...

    Hi, I do enjoy your videos and your energy - as to the head shake with the high vibrato - this was addressed by someone else in a review/analysis, as it happens to them on some songs - it's not something he is doing purposely, but comes with a certain volume and resonance in the head of those notes and the head just GOES - vibrating to that resonance - so not a technique crutch as I've unfortunately heard some OTHER (NOT YOU) reactors suggest, but just 'what the body does' - just thought you might be interested in another view... - keep on keeping on... :) You make me smile, definitely NOT a bad thing...

    • @Rosannasfriend
      @Rosannasfriend 5 лет назад

      I don't blame them as they have probably seen some people do that before as a crutch. But yeah, that was astute of Tara Simon.

    Emi, I can't wait any longer to tell you what I have not been letting you know. In Dimash Screaming "Idol Hits" that has English subtitles he changes the Screaming song to add a Rap which is the only time so far that he has done a rap. He also has a set that includes fire and the audience includes fans with DEAR headbands as he calls his fans Dears. After the song finishes he speaks to the audience and what he says melted my heart. If you want to do 2 in 1 maybe Screaming music video followed by Screaming on music show Idol Hits.

    In the reaction by Tara Simon, the nodding thing that Dimash does when he its that high note is an involuntary reaction due to resonation. No idea myself but yeah, great fun reaction! ! !

    Hey Emi!
    I have a couple questions regarding the male vocal range and techniques involved in achieving a desired result.
    First, can you explain how the comfort in range (or vocal break/rest area) for Dimash and Vitas seem to share a lot of similarities and how that can be achieved for an amateur, outside of adding a note to your daily regiment (how can I make sure it's healthy)? Specifically, I noticed there is no unnecessary tension or push for either artist, yet it seems that the 4-5 range is home for them. During Opera #2 at the 1:20 mark, ( ruclips.net/video/ZSenveV5QP4/видео.html ) Vitas makes it seem like a speaking voice rather than a feat of artistry. I don't know if I will ever go that far with my range, but I would like to get out of being the token baritone and tenor. The second question regards Marc Martel. Was his exaggeration, or extreme protrusion of the upper teeth, a technique to mimic Freddy's vowels and consonants that he inherited unwittingly, since he did not have formal training, and what (from Freddy) should other artists take away as a great lesson?
