My biggest complaint about these expansions, because I believe I have the same problem with Shadowed Paths, is that on these wonderful minis, some parts are fragile and break apart. Nothing a little super glue can't fix, but still.
Oh absolutely get what you mean. Feels comforting that it's not just me. Are you thinking about the Warg riders? Took only a few weeks but they all lost their little sling shot parts. Had to make sure I preserved them in ice to be able to reattach em later ;P
LOTR journeys is definitely what got me into painting minis, tons of fun, the minis have a surprising amount of details for being part of a larger game
@@DicetowerBryan The JiME minis from this expansion seem on par with the rest of the game. By not changing the quality, it creates a cohesive experience even if they're not quite as detailed as something like Ankh.
I own journeys in middle earth. Don't know which one I want to get next, this or shadowed paths? And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Mansions of Madness 3rd ed. Instant buy for me!! :) Besides the card mechanic they would need fix the minis too, maybe make them like middle earth minis and let the app worry about the stats so you don't need to worry about the little card inserted in the mini stand.
We thought this was the most fun expansion/DLC with how it was done. Of course we have bought things as they released so I don’t know if owning Shadowed Paths before this added anything to the whole experience or not. Still would recommend this as the slightly better one.
Well Journeys in Middle-earth is my favorite app driven game and this is the best expansion. The new mechanics it introduces are the best ones yet. I do not agree about the miniatures, I’m not really willing to pay more for better molds/process. I don’t disagree about the soft details, just that this is good enough for me. :) One day I’ll replace everything with GW models, I just need to win the lottery first. :D
@@Jezza_One It is mostly the true scale that keeps me away, and that some are still metal, I swore an oath in a dark alley in Gotham to never paint metal again.
Journeys in middle earth for sure! I also like the Imperial Assault campaigns but they only made three five scenario campaigns. I am looking for more like these in terms of app integration but there does not seem to be many.
Picked this up back in January. Pretty tough to find. Like the game, big Tolkien fan in spite of Amazon doing their best to destroy his stuff, and have a bunch of LOTR games. The figures are far from my issues with the game however. At times it's fun and exciting and other times it's just tedious and frustrating. In a lot of ways Return To Dark Tower uses the app better although there's not as much to it. Getting to the end of a campaign in LOTR and fighting the final boss only to have to beat it 3 or 4 times is the exact opposite of fun. At that point I and my friends just quit and say we won. Lol. It's a good game and I'll go back to it but I'd still rather play something like Mage Knight or Sword And Sorcery.
Return to Dark Tower is my favorite app assisted game at the moment
Love the whole game plus expansions. The expansions can be brutal when added. Got all the minis nicely painted, winner winner :)

@@linenotter EXACTLY THEM. IT'S INFURIATING.
Are the miniatures good to be painted? Or is that not recommended?
definitely recommended
Good timing :) bought it yesterday

Don’t get the logic of reducing mini quality to get better art? Minis are amazing IMO some of the best I own
They aren’t awful but hold one of these figures up against any mini in Ankh etc. I get the difference to be sure but it’s stark.

@@VaultBoy13 maybe I misspoke. I mean I would like the entire game to look like Ankh or Villainous, not just the expansion.
So excited for this! Glad it's a good addition to the game!
Xcom: The Board Game is my personal favorite app driven board game

Yes those cards and bases are the worst

I use GW miniatures but I dont think the Mumak will fit on the game board.

Very much disagree about the minis. Love the minis. Good review though
He literally said the miniatures were great, just some was lacking some detail....

There's a fan-made app for Imperial Assault that makes all the overlord campaigns available. It plays very similar to the official app.
@@VaultBoy13 oh right. I will have to try those. Thanks!
This game is amazing!
