People loved tailgating back in the 70s . And when a pile up happened you probably weren't wearing a seat belt and no air bags - nice .

@Hitogokochi Not wearing a seat belt doesn't make you brave, it makes you a selfish fucking idiot who doesn't care that in a crash they will turn into a 80mph missile flying through the front window possibly hurting others and putting their family through a lot of emotional pain. Good job people now have an ounce of common sense so piss off with that 'snowflake' bullshit

I remember my uncle collecting me and my family in Fulham and driving us to Wiltshire on the first part of the M4 when it opened. It was a short bit of road then but thrilling for a 6 six old to be travelling on a road up in the air above everyone else. Always loved seeing the Lucozade sign. Happy days. A shame adult life has to get in the way!

M4 route to Heathrow airport. First opportunity to put your foot down after leaving London traffic. Some reasonably wealthy car owners, some of these were upmarket cars. Most of these cars would be very OK with motorway speeds, disc brakes front and rear on some!

If you ever want to get a depressing feeling of how our lives are wasted in the capitalist society then sit on this road in rush hour.
We rush, treat our fellow man awfully as we rush rush rush, using time unwisely to get more stuff, keeping up with the joneses.
A drab road with lots of reminders of the stuff we can own as we rush rush rush but hardly getting anywhere. Everyone stressed and frustrated at the sheer volume of people on the road to hell rushing to earn their stuff and using their time unwisely.
I often think if I am on that road in rush hour that surely we have the intelligence to devise a better society.
We spoke in lock down of how we loved some of the things like precious time we had during lock down. The sky was clearer, we could see the improvement in the environment. People were kinder? We had time. Yet here we are some months on, supposedly getting back to "normal". The adults taking kids to school would go insane with rage if you dare take a second of their time as they rush rush rush, so much to do and so much stuff to be had. All the caring has gone as we get back to normal.

Dreadful tailgating especially from 45 secs on. The 2 door American car is the worst offender..
Can anybody read the reg on the BMW 02 at 53 secs? I can't quite see if this is a round or square lamp model. I think is the earlier round lamp model; square came in during 1973 and the car doesn't look brand new either.
