I respect you opinion as a professional cobbler but i disagree that Helms boots arent phenomenal as compared to an 800.00 pair of boots. I have a pair of custom heritage boots made in a small artisan shop in leon mexico that i paid 900.00 for over 10 years ago. Those are really nice boots but ill tell you id rather wear my 200.00 helms (coupon code discount applied) than those. And if i knew about helm before i bought the custom ones i would have bought three pairs of helm instead of the custom pair. Helm stand out as compared to others so much that i get constant compliments whenever i wear any of them (zind, muller, railroad and their zip sneaker boot) as compared to the custom pair of boots. They are really nice but they arent worth the extra 700.00. Even with the price not accounted for id pay 900.00 for my heritage styled Helm boots vs the custom pair. My oldest pair are over 6 years old and look better patina'd than they did when new. Ditto that i prefer them to my wolverine 1000, my milwalkee farwells, my redwing blacksmiths etc. Helms scream quality and their white midsole is amazing. Helm is a small company so their boots are literally hand made in that same small town in mexico...likely by the same artisan boot makers. Except you save hundreds when buying helm but get the same quality. They are unlike most mens boot companies. Their customer service is amazing and personalized, which is rare for any company. Their leather is premium and they are built extremely well with zero issues. Their reviews for their boots are all above 4.6 out of 5 and it shows. Good luck finding a new or even used pair of muller, railroad, hollis bc they dont make many. Helm has a special place in the hearts of loyalists like myself who prefer the overall helm experience.

Coming from the sneaker world (just started to dip my toes so to speak into the boot and shoe universe) i really aprecciate your vids! ive seen a lot of cobbler channels in the past month or so and yours is so well rounded with content! the review was great, very clear, i like that you show how passionate you are about boot craftmanship (disclaimer and all, disliking sneaker type midsoles on a boot like this one)...Cobblers Plus is now def on my educational rotation, it surely stands out because you take the time to describe almost every detail on what youre showing, pro tips and all in a very relaxed and casual chat...good job!

Good to know. I'm going to Austin this weekend and I was planning on going to the Helm Store. This will definitely help me guide my eye over the boots before I choose to buy some. Good job.

I bought a pair of Helm shoes that look just like that boot except in a shoe. I love the look of the Helms, but you are right about comfort. They were hard as a rock out of the box and required quite a lot of break in. I have high hopes as we head into spring that I finally got them broken in as I don't wear light colored shoes in our Midwestern winters.
As for whether I would get another pair, the answer is a qualified yes. I prefer the fit of Allen Edmonds, but Helms offer something with a different look, and you can't always get the look you want with just one brand.

My Helm Muller has a different sole/heel. Leather with flat rubber cover. No heel rocker and quite comfortable.

My Helm Hollis boot heals are perfectly level. They don't do that rocking thing at all.

Hey, glad to see you're on the mend. Sounds like you're almost back to normal. Great going with turning right back to what you were doing before, as behavior and atittude often affects health outcomes.

Great video. I have three pair of that style (Railroad, Muller, and Marion). I’ve read that the rocker design was intentional and agree that if you are looking for stability compared to similar boots (Iron Rangers or Thursday Captains) the Railroad isn’t there. Overall I think your review is fair and judgements reasonable. I will say that they seem to be going away from that model for a slimmer profile, even in the wides. I’m glad I got mine when I did but don’t know I’ll go with Helm in the future.

I have a pair of Bradleys in suede and a pair of Nils in brown. Both are derbies but the Nils has the same lug sole. Very solid and pitch perfect. There is definitely something wrong with those boots. I have had both in the rotation for over a year and I am loving my Helms.

Nice review. I have been running into many fiberboard heel blocks lately and I wonder A) what material they used and B)if they used stacked leather in the heel block, did they cut the corner of taking the time to adjust the pitch for the leather?

They use stacked leather heels on the railroad, zind, muller and hollis.

Don't buy Helm I have a pair and I wish I saved my money and picked up Grant stones ! They are close match to Thursday's boots price wise and Thursdays have more comfort boot .I would stick with Grant stones boos for Mid $350 They will be the next boots I will get

@@johnversluis3084 I looooove my Grant Stone stuff and I really wish they made a cap toe derby like Helm's or even a split toe derby like Meermin. If you watch the B Grades and Last Chance section, you can sometimes get boots for $225, basically slightly more than Thursday for a much better boot.

    • @santoparfano1910

To each there own but I prefer helm to grants or Thursdays. If you don't get that helm is a small artisan boot company that will accommodate you unlike larger impersonal boot companies. If you didnt like them they would offer a free return and provide you with help in finding a boot that you would like. They were always accommodating when I purchased boots from them.

I have 4 pairs of Helms and I absolutely love em. Once broken in, they are crazy comfortable and stand out from most other boots. I get more compliments on my Helms than my wolvwrine 1000s, wolverine blvds and my redwing blacksmiths and paid half than either pair for any of my helms. Just not impressed with Grant stone to be honest. They are just bland comparatively and not worth the extra cost. They probably are great boots but they don't stand out.

Not true. You will get premium for resaling Helms if they are cared for because of low supply. They are a small company so they are literally hand made unlike most mens boot companies. Their leather is premium and they are built extremely well with zero issues. I have 4 pair and they all are still in great shape. Good luck finding a used pair of muller, railroad, hollis bc they dont make alot. Helm has a special place for loyalists like myself.
