Who Am I?
I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot-related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands from time to time!
I have owned boots for decades, but to be honest I have owned them as functional pieces of footwear. It wasn't until early 2020 when COVID struck that I started online shopping for boots to an obsessive degree. I love the aesthetic of boots and I love finding out more about how they are made. I now own an insane number of boots, and one day I may sell some of them (just not right now).

😮you forgot the acknowledgment!!!!! 😊great vid.
I have a pair of Helm’s “Pablo” boots - a chelsea style boot with a medial zipper instead of the usual elastic side panels. They’re good for going out on the town in nice weather. A lot of people take issue with the manufacturer’s signature white rubber layer in the midsole, but I think it looks decent.
I have my eye on the Zind boot in burgundy. Once they get more in US size 10 I will probably pick them up.
Helm always has a yearly warehouse sale in Austin during the fall. I got $265 boots for $130. If you live near the Austin area keep an eye out for those kinds of sales. Incredible deals.
Nice ! I live close by..
As always, an excellent review
great review again, well done!
phenomenal!!!!!!! i love the Helm Zind, such a beautiful staple. Really like that you went with the black pair, looks so good against that natural sole!!!!!!!!
and as always, brings a huge smile to my face seeing those cuffs getting some good use and wear!!!!
I never take them off!!!
Cool looking boots Teik. I’m surprised you could go down a half size. I went TTS and still felt a little snugness in the toes but it’s broken in quite nicely. That said they are one of the longer boots I’ve got heel to toe, but still an acceptable fit.
One thing that really bothered me was the layered leather/foam insole insert. It was comfortable but the top lining got a little baggy and the excess material was bunching up behind my smaller toes, and it was super annoying. Thankfully a guy by the name of Dale, made some custom veg tan insoles for me using the helm insoles as a pattern. That Dale really is a great guy….
Hi Teik, Really enjoy your videos-this is another great one & like the look of the Helm Boots.
Like you I am in OZ, but in Melbourne-With freight & duties how much did they land for in AUD? It can add up & makes for an expensive purchase but hopefully worthwhile-also we don't have a great deal of choice when it comes to quality boots made in Australia.
Thanks again for the video
Freight (which includes duties) adds about USD50 to 60 so it’s not cheap.
Look great for 300 bucks... thx for sharing
Great video, Teik. I'm grappling right now between the Zind in burgundy and the Color #8 Brass Boots from Grantstone. I suppose in these cases it's best to go with whichever's more versatile... Looking forward to the follow up review after they're good and broken in!
Additionally, I saw in another review of an older model that the heel is angled in such a way that the boot doesn’t sit flat and rocks back and forth. Are you experiencing that with this pair?
No the heel seems to sit flat on this one. The odd thing is the tip of the toe being leather soled after the rubber insert slips when you push off when walking until it scuffs up enough!
Thanks for the Helm review. I'm a 7.7 brannock and on the wide side of D width. I bought a Zind in a 7.5 D and it's a bit narrow. Having said that, they are breaking in a little and I'm hopeful that they'll be fine after another 30 hours or so (and a little conditioning). I can't wear a midweight cushion sock though. I need a lightweight sock or it's too narrow. Just thought I'd give my two cents.
If you haven’t worn it much yet try exchanging for a half up. I think your width being more than a D is the issue
You could always try stretching the toe box. They sell good boot stretchers on amazon. Did it for my Lou boot with great results. Feels broken in now.
I own grant stone diesel boot , allen edmonds higgins mill and Freeport boots , thursdays caption suede and vanguard, so looking at those helm boots are nice but nothing special , kind of plain to me , higgins mill have a plain look also but my eyes tells me the mill are more comfy with better leather feel . Helm can be a step above Thursdays boots by just a little , meaning for 295 compare to 200 bucks is 100 more than thursdays which should be 250.00 only . Great company Helm is , but they should step up from the ordinary , get to 350 400 range and improve their boots top to bottom .
Could you please do a review of Origin boots if you get a chance? Thank you!
I noticed them about a year ago but never bought them. I’ll see if I can put them in the list to buy or see if they pop up on eBay
Thank you. Love your vids.
