I had the privilege of setting foot into 1 of those canadian pacific trains in Revelstoke B.C when I was driving truck a few years back I'm like wow I need 1 of these engines just for the fun of it.

Thank you for posting this Tyson. Although I'm (whisper it) from Alberta, I've spent quite a lot of time in the areas in your videos, including the Thompson Canyon and the Fraser Canyon down Highway 1, through Yale down to Hope. Any time I'm going west, I always feel sorry to be leaving there, in order to suffer the weirdness that seems to increase as Vancouver gets closer, lol. There are many good places to see both CP and CN at work. The one thing I don't have is a video camera (mine was "borrowed" by some 5-finger discount artiste), so these videos have twice the value for me, especially since we are still living inside fences, real or "regulatory." Some day we're going to see "normal life" again, and visiting in person will be possible once again. So here's a big shout-out to you for your great videos. I've seen railroads in many countries, but there's really nothing quite like this stretch, so Thank You!

After the first 30 seconds the word that comes to mind for the videography is "immaculate". Such a great location shot lends itself to the video being considered "art" rather than just a train video. Well done Tyson, your scenery compilations are what keep bringing me back to your channel.

Fantastic video, thanks a bunch for posting. I spent many years trucking through this area and loved seeing it again. Quite interesting to see how the bottom of Tank Hill has changed as a result of the washout. Loved the weathering on 8778, guessing an accidental spritz at Notch Hill. Great resource for those of us modelling CP coal trains. Cheers. -grant
Glad I could freshen up those memories! Yes Tank Hill has seen better days, and I’d say at least all CP units on coal trains are spritzed up and sprinkled with a little magic fairy coal dust. Thanks for the great comment!

Yes good eye that CN coal train was twice the size of the CP coals they like running close to 890-900 axles where as CP runs 626-632 axle coal trains. Thanks for watching Scotty!

CP coal trains are 626 axles with 3 engines,
CN runs there’s 880-898 axle coal trains with 3 engines also.

One thing the U.S. and Canada seem to have in common. They both really like their coal and need so much of it. Seriously, it’s insane how much coal is usual moved just by train.
But the funny thing is the coal here isn’t being used to power Canada, but shipped across British Columbia and headed overseas to be used in countries like China for ex.

The long line cargo rail with Coal Cargo going down to sea Level for Export. When Empty going uphill to Coal Mine
Never seen a coal train before, really hoping too someday. My line sees them sometimes, usaually at night though. Spectacular video my friend!
If you only knew how much I’d rather see other trains then just dirty old coal trains but I’m happy to see the rest of my viewers really LOVE coal trains…huh go figure! Haha

Coal trains are the best. Big difference in the landscape between the Thompson canyon and the Fraser canyon.
The Fraser has a lot more forest coverage and it definitely rains more west of Boston bar. Thanks for your comment!

That must be a very strong lock at the front side of this extream long coaltrain 👌🏻
Not only does the first coupler pull hard but they all do equally together, if there was only one coupler holding the entire train together it would definitely break! but each car is coupled to each other to make this work.
The couplers are not fastened rigidity the the wagon , they are sprung not sure of the technical terms but wagon 1 only pulls wagon 2 .wagon w pulls wagon 3 etc all the way down the train .plus with having DPUs they keep the couplings close

Awesome as always, I couldn't for the life of me figure where you are around 16:35, where is that crossing? I've been all up and down the canyon on Google earth, I figure you're on the CP line as well since it's eastbound.
That is Tank Hill which is East of Lytton, this was a railroad bridge over Highway 1 and it was washed out late last year 2021 which washed out the bridge and highway structure, so I believe this crossing is temporary until they put a new one in or highway overpass. Google "Tank Hill washout" and you will find this location. Thanks for watching my video!
@@TracksideTyson Yeah found it, you can even see on google earth that it has taken the divergence into account on the actual routing of the highway which doesn't overlap the actual picture, kinda neat.

Question from the UK, are the dpu engines notched up higher than the lead engine to ease the coupling strain?
The DPU’s are paired with the same power vantages as the lead units. Thanks for watching!

I worked this line when I was a kid. That was forty years ago. All that coal is going to be burned for electricity for the cities in the U.S. and some cities in Canada. The combustion of all that coal will eventually be in our atmosphere. In the past, the railroad transported grain and general commerce to relative destinations.
