Hi mate. Just two respectful comments: 1. From Canada to Mexico included, we are North America. From Guatemala (south of Mexico to Panama is Central America. And from Colombia to south of Argentina and Chile is South America.
    2. In Spanish the double L together as in La Llorona, pronounced Y as in "York" A hug from Guadalajara Mexico.

Lola Beltrán has a way to tell a story with her voice. She can color her voice to convey all the emotions, she understood the lyrics and the musical notes, she knew how to weave them together to great magical effect. She had a powerful voice and you perfectly described the effects upon the listener, you get lost, you are taken elsewhere. Only another singer had this quality, opera singer Maria Callas.
The human voice can be magical.

I'm tired of crying and it's not dawn
I do not know whether to curse you or for you
I'm afraid to look for you and find you
Where my friends assure me that you're going
There are times when I would like better to rip
And tear off the nails of my penar
But my eyes are dying without looking at your eyes
And my love with the aurora again awaits you
You already took the parrandas on your own
Black dove, black dove, where, where will you go?
Do not play with my parrandera honors anymore
If your caresses should be mine from anyone else
And even though I love you with madness, do not come back,
Black dove is the gate of a penar
I want to be free, live my life with who I want
God give me strength, I'm dying to go look for him
You already took the parrandas on your own.

Thank you for appreciating our music. You pronounced her name right. Lola was a great storyteller and an amazing vocalist. She had the gift of drawing her audience and transmit her emotions to her audience. There’s no one like her.
React to Jenny Rivera. Aida Cuevas el Pastor is a good one too. Ya no Vivo por Viver a duet from Juan Gabriel and Natalia Lafourcade is amazing. If you’re a fan of CCR checkout Quiro Creedence. Several Latinos play an homage to CCR. Juan Gabriel sang Have you Ever Seen the Rain. His was a happy tone. He called it Gracias al Sol. Cheers from San Antonio Texas. 😊

Her voice was absolutely phenomenal and very powerful, you can hear the passion behind the lyrics. I don’t know what she’s saying but you don’t have to, it’s that good. When I hear music from Mexico I get a romantic or tragic vibe or a combination of both, simply outstanding.
Now I know it’s not Mexican or South American but I’d really love it if you react to the Swedish heavy metal band Brothers of Metal. I know I’ve mentioned them before but I really enjoy your reactions and can’t wait to see it. You will love them and the Female singer is awesome, her name is Ylva Eriksson and she is not only beautiful but very talented, the synergy with her and the incredible Male singer Joakim Lindbäck Eriksson and speaker Mats Nilsson is epic. I recommend the songs Yggdrasil and Powersnake if your listening to them for the first time.

    Get back my confidence
And although we hadn't enough time
I know your soul is resting.
    Fly high, fly free
    Fly, my white dove
Because even though you're no longer here
I shall live under your wings
I had so many things to tell you
But you didn't let me do it
I'm going to pull the pain up with the love you taught me.
    Oh, what a pain!
(I miss you so much momma)
    I may have been wrong
But it was never that important
    It's out of any thought
to betray the one I love the most.
I'm going to pray in your name
I'm going to ask that you may rest
I feel that your soul listens to me
    So let's make peace.
    Fly high, fly free
    Fly, my white dove
Because even though you're no longer here
I shall live under your wings

Her song/video Tu Sí Sabes Quererme, Soledad y El Mar and her Tiny Desk Concert with NPR are so great! When you go back to male singers, there’s also Richie Valens! He was a Mexican American singer that many had no idea he wasn’t white when they heard his songs! He was famous for La Bamba, but also the songs from the 50’s like Oh Donna and We Belong Together, which you may have heard. He died in a plane crash with some other great singers and the song “American Pie” by Don McLean refers to this incident as “The Day The Music Died”. There’s also a great duet with Tony Bennett and Vicente Hernandez called Return to me, and it has a really great video of them just chillin and being friends lol

You should also ask someone who speaks Spanish, to translate some dialogs... Lola is explaining at the beginning, that she had previoulsy sang that song and she was not pleased with the former one, since she sang it in the wong tone. She is telling the public that she sings it in a higher one, so she sang it again, the way she thoght was the correct one.

Chavela Vargas sings this so much better! She was the first famous woman mariachi singer in Mexico and was a known lover to Frida Khalo

Personally, I don’t like Jenny Rivera’s songs, but she’s got an interesting voice, it would be worth to take a listen

The Grammy performance of Llorona sung by Angela Aguilar, Natalia Lafourcade and Aida Cuevas. 2 generations of music styles. It’s a must see. I know you’ll really enjoy it.

Ok, one thing, please, I love Englad, I have been there. Mexico belongs geographically to North America. The three countries in North America are Canada, USA, and Mexico. after Mexico starts Centro America and later South america.
