Ah lightning. So good, yet so confusing on where you want to even invest. It just feels so weird that its DEX for the weapons, and FTH for casting, with very little overlap in scaling for said weapons. Makes me wonder if there was going to be a Lightning Art infusion/ashes of war.
ancient dragon stuff should be dex and leyendell lightning should be fth, and the gravel stone seal should be dex/fth like the clawmark. instead of the "lightning" infusion we could have "dragon cult" which gives C/D fth and B dex scaling(like blood, cold and poison), and the regular lightning infusion could become "ancient lightning" which just increases dex dmg.
@@ezpznoob8092 see; this here makes sense; and would fit with the fire str and flame art system that they have in game already. I could see lightning staying; and getting the dragon art/cult infusion as well, since we have both for fire damage anyway. the real funny thing is: if the DLC adds infusions; how likely are we to get the other ailments as options to infuse weapons with? Like maybe an int/fth infusion for deathblight (lol)
I'd just love for any faith scaling weapon that you can change the ashes of war on. Same for Int weapons. I know here's not a single Faith scaling weapon you can change, and I believe the same for all Int weapons. Also more weapons with natural lightning would be nice. There are a ton of magic and holy based weapons, and even a fair number of fire based. And I am not including weapons that you can put ashes on or weapons that have an elemental ash thats not shown. This also includes the Dragonscale Blade/Halberd and Stormhawk Axe. There are only 4 weapons with natural Lightning. The Dragon King Cragblade, Bolt of Gransax, Veteran's Prosthesis and Dragon Greatclaw. The Cragblade/Bolt are good, but the Greatclaw and Prosthesis, idk much about. By my count there are 34 Magic, 18 Fire, 4 Lightning, and 29 Holy. Why so few lightning weapons?
I wasted so many Rebirths trying to find a lightning build I like by evening out dex and faith. If you do that you are so weak compared to what you COULD be. Thats why I think the full caster build for lightning is best since you have so many options and wont be as boring as the dual legendary spear. I reallllllly hope they add more lightning spells or, like you said, weapons that tie to faith that are lightning based.
This is true unfortunately. It’s exactly why I was trying to find a dex faith build because the own in using doesn’t feel that good. I think I will try a full caster build now and try to save my play through.
My 10th and final build was a Dexterity/Faith Lightning build and I 100% agree. There should at least be an Affinity called Lightning Art that scales with Faith for Ashes of War, and additional Lighting based Ashes of War, currently theres like 3 of them. I think the Somber Weapons like Bolt of Gransax and Dragon King's Cragblade should have equally scaled with Dex and Faith if anything like a Quality build, just my two cents.
One benefit of having Dexterity is faster cast times on spells. 30 Dex + Radagon's Icon puts you at the 60 soft cap, since Radagon's gives +30 dex when applied to casting speed
For the first build, since you only have 25 faith, and since the Dragon King's Cragblade scales better with Dex, instead of using the spell Lightning Spear, use the weapon Bolt of Gransax. Cragblade in your main hand, and spear in your offhand and two hand it to use the skill for distant enemies. It travels further than Lightning Spear, does more damage, especially with Alexander/Godfrey, and only costs a little more. 24 FP for Bolt of Granax, 18 FP. With Godfrey, Ritual, Lightning and Flocks I hit 2416 with Lightning Spear at 75 Faith. With Gransax and Godfrey, Ritual, Lightning and Alexander I hit for 3001 at 70 Dex. 3065 with the +10 Dex Physick. Only 6 FP more for it, but with the lower faith, you'll see a huge difference on the damage.
It’s hilarious everyone uses the Dragonscale Katana over the Dragon Halberd in these Frozen Lightning builds. The Dragon Halberd is so much better than the Katana.
Maybe with a Godwyn dlc there will be some Fai/Dex lightning weapons. The gold and 1 blue lightning spells were my favourite, the red dragon lightning looks too dark for my paladin builds.
My Paladin only does Holy Damage and uses buffs or the Erdtree Spells or Two Fingers Spells. I made my Lightning build a Banished Knight from Farum Azula that serves the Storm Lord Placidusax. That's the Lore behind them anyways, and my last Faith build is a Pyromancer from Mt. Gelmir part of Rykards faction that studied with the Fire Monks to Master Pyromancy. I have two Arcane builds, two Intelligence builds, and one Quality, one Strength, and one Dexterity build. Each build has a particular faction or group they're aligned with for their backstory.
I don't think we should see a paladins as simply "good" or "evil" in this universe. Most would serve the golden order so that already makes them more unique than stereotypical paladins. Their philosophies and outlook on the world would differ greatly from your run-of-the-mill fantasy paladin.
My main lightning build uses Endure on a straight sword with decently heavy armor to just unga bunga through attacks and land fully charged fortissax’s twin lightning spears
Gotta correct ya on Vike's Dragonbolt. It actually LOWERS lightning damage negation but adds the weapon buff and increases carrying capacity. Dragonbolt blessing is the other body buff that deflects attacks, but also lowers lightning negation and does NOT buff the weapon.
I would personally use maybe like 40 dex 50 fth, and use electrify on a keen guardian swordspear. Then use all the golden ligghtning incantations, cool aesthetic and good build. You could even do a sort of phase 2 switching to red lightning. There's only like 3 of the spells worth using in red lightning sadly.
You forgot Zweilander which can be played quality till level 125 levelling str and dex equally with prefrence for str till atleast 30 to boost reisstances and to be able to equip many str weapons like warped axe ... after you hit 40 dex in stats without talismans you cna make your zweihander a keen weapon and it will outdamage all other affinities. Later when you hit almost 45 dex organically, get the whetblde and ash of war thunderbolt and make it lightning zweihander. Best dex scaling on any colossal... lightweight baby and single digit fp consumption that cna do 4 digit damage with right charmas and just physick even without shard of alexander. I have this build and i reached level 130 organically just by doing mohg and all the underground regions and most volcano missions before taking on morgott. Also early game just level vig and end 60/50 ... weapon upgrades are plentiful and you can upgrade two weapons to +17 since you have explored a lot and are quality... notable weapons are warped axe, banished knight's halberd, commander's standard (somber so easy to upgrade and useful boost to dmg and defense for urself and summons), also if you are finding stance break a bit tricky just use cragblade ash (it also boosts damage output for a full 60 seconds) or lion's claw on your zwei. Have fun tarnished ... stay quality (classy) til 125 later you can become keen and have best of both worlds. After you hit leyndell you will be level 140 and just pick up vanilla bolt of gransax for vanity and use it vanilla with a few easy upgrades. PS ... you might want to make your warped axe blood affinity +cragfblade and give it equal treatment till level +17 upgrades later you can chuck it if you like) ... it's dps is something out of the world.
I am honestly waiting for a DLC to hopefully add a DEX seal to make a real lightning build. The weapons scaling with dex and the spells with faith just ruin it all.
Gravel stone seal should be a dex/faith seal tbh, like how clawmark is for str/faith. I also want such options for staffs. Like there's no melee hybrid staff, which makes spellcasting unviable on builds that want to focus equally on str/dex and int.
@@common_undead yeah on my Strength/Intelligence build I don't even really bother casting, it's basically a Knight, pure melee with all the cool Intelligence Weapons and Ashes of War. I tend to either lean into the Frost side of it or the Gravity side

The only dex faith weapons are 2 scythes. I wish there were twinblades and katanas that scaled of off faith. Intelligence has dex scaling and strength scaling weapons. But faith is left out. Which is sad because faith is just objectively cooler than int.
Faith has Strength and Dexterity scaling weapons just no Lightning based ones.
