- Thanks for checking out our Pantera reaction. I'm Broken is a very artistic song. It's so artistic, it's kind of hard to decipher what's going on lol.

Brad is over here looking like he's figuring out Good Will Hunting level equations and Lex is just cruising the guitar riffs 😆😂🤣 I love it!
sorry bout that, i just hadda do it^
😂😂 i
One of the coolest guitar riffs ever done. DD was a genius. RIP 🎸🎸🎸🎸
that riff made Tom Morello's whole career!!
@@ARNWadz wtf is that supposed to mean lol. Dimebag is the man but Morello a legend too.
@@puppetmaster8551 My Man don't take it too seriously...I'm a Big fan of Morello's too, but you can hear a little dimebag in a lot of his riffs...not to say it is bad, because of course everybody has influences! It's the same as hearing a little EVH in dimebag's playing...but Cochise from Audioslave is a copy of I'm Broken lol!!
Rex Brown made a lot for Pantera's riffs too.
"Suicide Note Pt. 1" "Floods" ending in one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever. "Planet Caravan" (Black Sabbath cover) "This Love" Oh this road you're going to go down...Down is another story for another day
No Good (Attack The Radical) is an underrated jam and has the solo for Lex and the badass lyrics for Brad.
@@Gekokujo76 fucking killer track!
Yeah Phil proved he still had a great voice
Yes on Floods. Listen to the album version though. I remember learning that outro when it came out, and I stole those awesome Police chords a few times. It’s goosebumpy amazingness.
Up in smoke
This song is about Phil back problems. He felt a lot of pain. Start with painkillers, then heroin.
About Van Halen and Pantera... Dimebag loves Eddie. And i believe he met him ones.
When Dime was killed, Eddie put his guitar to Dime's coffin.
@djabeu only a real pantera fan would know that or even a maybe a casual metal fan from that Era, you might as well be pissing or typing into the wind!!
The good news is that their true fans are still out there!!🤘🤘 I had the pleasure of seeing them 5 times and party with them 4 times. I consider myself a lucky person. My kids are in there 20s now and they know most of their catalog. Pass on traditions brother!!!
@@20eyes75 I did not have the chance to see them live, cos- 1. I'm 35, 2. I'm from Poland.
In last month i had a ticket, to go see Phil with his band live, but cos of covid they moved for next year (second year in a row).
Also- i'm huge fan. Love Pantera, and love Phil. I even have a tattoo of Phil face with devil horns on my shoulder.
@djabeu that really sucks that it was postponed AGAIN but before
You know it a year will pass and you'll have killer time!!
BTW.. I lived in Germany for a while and had a great time visiting Poland a couple of times. Phil still puts on a great show you'll have a blast!! Peace from N.J
@@20eyes75 I got to see them live over 15 times but never got to meet them. Never disappointed, every show was awesome.
@@djabeu8902 Love this convo - metal to me is a super global community. What’s up Poland from the US 🙌
This dude always looks like he's having a hard time enjoying the music rofl.
I vibe with Lex all the way.
No doubt, I'm with you 💯... I think Brad should just try and relax, feel and hear what's coming at him, rather than focusing too much on lyrics or meaning, or any one "specific" thing. Once he learns to sit back and absorb, rather than intently focus and miss 9/10ths of what's coming at him, he'll start to feel/seem more comfortable. All that being said, that's why I vibe with lex more often than not.
Great comment by the way. Cheers 🍻
I enjoy it, lex is great but I’m glad Brad is genuine and doesn’t just fake it and act like everything is great and he loves it like so many reactors do. They’re a good combo together Imo.
That's actually his happy face
Agreed. He doesn't understand the greatness of Pantera.
I think he may be missing that the music is just as important as the lyrics in telling the "story"
I love how Lex can spot a good riff. Freakin metal head. 🤘
Lex="Get's It"
Brad="What's going on"
😂😝😂
Surprise suprise, Brad's confused
I think that's the overarching theme of this channel
go solo Lex!!!!!!!!!!
been rocking to this for 25 years, and never bothered with the lyrics.
Exact same. We hear, "I'M BROKEN!" and say "that's me, let's rock!".
Right?? This is the first time I've seen them lol. I always thought the last word he was yelling was "Power!" ...oops
Some of Pantera songs are like plain brutal and macho, especially in Cowboys from hell and Vulgar display of power.I would say it could be like, almost half of the songs..?But the later albums were even heavier, but more polished and creative in a sense. And I prefer their lyrics.
Yup
Lyrics are just a place holder for the music.
The groove is insane. Total classic.
I know some people won't like this, but, for me, thats got a thick thread of Texas Blues intertwined with that thar metal.
Phil is a lyrical genius. He is a guy that could teach about writing and wordplay, as well as expand someone's vocabulary. Sometimes he comes with straight meaning, and sometimes with euphemisms.
his voice started sucking after cowboys for m hell. he list all of his highs after that.
@@deangoings His voice sucked so much he inspired every metal vocalist after him, and even his contemporaries. He changed his vocal style on purpose. He still hit lots of high notes, but stopped being a Rob Halford clone, because we already have Rob Halford for that.
@@MsCruisein not any singers I've known they all agree with me. lol you red a hearing aid if you cannot recognize he list his highs
@@MsCruisein on top of that he's a fukin major Whole.
@@deangoings ~ And you need to learn how to construct a proper sentence if you want anyone to take you seriously.
Lex is such a metal head! :) lol - Brad like what the hell is this? :) lol You guys crack me up. Have an awesome day everyone.
he's all like "do you really understand it?"
and im over here like "Dude it's not a book. If you feel it then you understand it."
I appreciate that Brad is honest about his opinion on metal songs. I am a metal head and don't really like the reaction videos where you know the people are pretending to like the music to appeal for metal head views. Also why Lost in Vegas is the original and best reaction channel. Being pandered to sucks.
This is right when I started feeling the pain in my lower back, and it felt scary. I think this is one of the first times in my life, man, that I had this thing called ‘vulnerability’ kick in, and that was a very uncomfortable feeling. (…) And I knew in my heart that the injury wasn’t gonna get any better with a number one record and touring upon touring upon touring gonna be piled on top of it. So I think that was really my first glimpse into kinda screaming to the world “Fucking, I am broken, somebody (…) help me here”. But at the time there wasn’t many options of accommodations there, whether it be neurosurgery or stalling the band’s plan. There was no stopping us, you know. (…) First cry for help, so to speak. -Phil Anselmo.
@Samo ljubav
I'm going in for my third spine surgery on 9/21 and I know the pain and suffering that he has gone through. It's not easy especially when other people can't truly understand how you feel. That's why it's just easier to self medicate. Not a good thing, but that's all you got sometimes. It's a hollow feeling. My heart goes out to anyone dealing with back pain and substance abuse. It makes you feel alone in this world.
Very relatable, I’m not even 30 yet and my back has been destroyed since I was 16. Pain ever minute of every day for the past decade plus, shit is terrible and has pretty much completely ruined my life. Anyway thanks for posting the Phil quote guy is a legend and I relate heavily to anyone who’s gonna through serious chronic back issues.
Bratko drago mi je vidjet nekog sa ovog prostora sto voli panteru
i feel your pain, going through it now. cant do surgery, trying injections but not holding my breath
Still have the shirt from HS. I really wear it on bad days. Ruptured the disc in my back at 18 tossing 50lbs bags of flour all day. Couldn't walk, Dr.s gave a ton of muscle relaxers.
At 38 ruptured and dessicated my L5/S1 disc driving a forklift, hit a bump, and it was like an Atomic Drop. Couldn't walk right for a year, took 6mos before back to work at superlight duty. Another 6mos before back to full str.
No surgery.
A really good chiropractor (an MD) seeing 3 times a week, and lots home stretching.
Do I still get sciatic pain? Maybe, 2 twice a year, IF I don't stretch daily, if I sleep on my side on the couch, or run.
Sure there's things I can't do anymore. Anything involving impact. As a Muay Thai coach, that's pretty much everything.
But I heard 1st hand horror stories of brackets, pins, and screws from coworkers and was hell bent on not going down that road.
I'm truly sorry. This is an excruciating amount of pain. Nerve pain just hits different. Most people will never understand.
The only connection between Pantera & Van Halen was that Dimebag (guitar) and Vinnie Paul (drums) were huge Van Halen fans...
The only similarities was Dimebag and Vinnie were brothers... and Eddie & Alex Van Halen of Van Halen were brothers.
When Dimebag was killed in 2004, Eddie Van Halen did show up at his funeral, despite being in awful shape from drug addictions. Eddie gave his old guitar to be buried w/ Dimebag... that was really touching. To be laid to rest with a guitar of THE guitarist who inspired him to play...
Everything they went on stage Dime and Vinnie would say Van Halen, their way of saying kick ass out there.
A very iconic Guitar 🎸
Don't forget the bottle of crown royal
I love seeing the resurgence of rock and heavy metal. It truly warms my heart. Bard & Lex, love ya!!
@The Dude right? I'm crying 😂😂😂
Who’s bard bruh? lol 😆
Bard & Lxe are very entertaining.
If (obviously from boredom) you are this giggly over a misspelled word, I would hate too see how silly you get over a punctuation error. An improper noun must make you piss yourself with laughter.....lol
'Shedding Skin' by Pantera would be a great song and reaction for you guys🤘
One of the best riffs ever.
Second that
And Slaughtered!!
@@UKBornin1971 SLAUGHTERED! So brutal. Love it.
Thehy couldnt cope with that
Watching Lex get into the music always makes me smile.
This song is metal af. Makes you wanna run through brick and bend steel. Hell yeah
PANTERA the GOAT. RIP Dime n Vin
I absolutely love when Lex imitates the screams. It is hysterical and adorable. Love you two!
Brad reading the lyrics like he’s watching Texas chainsaw massacre. Lex vibin hard like it’s a pop song. Love it
PANTERA! Texas Metal Royalty!! Often imitated never duplicated! Rest In Power Dime & Vinnie!!! 🤘
Lex is a musician at heart. She hears the music first. Lyrics come second. I do the same thing every time I listen to music. Sometimes I will go for years before I get curious enough to look up the Lyrics for a song.
Brad Pantera did a song called Rise where the lyrical message is way clearer and about all races coming together in unity against hate and the music is totally 🔥
This is my absolute favorite song from Pantera. Thank you
🤘
Lex is amazing, in that she is FEELING the music-which is EXACTLY HOW this music IS TO BE felt!!...she is a true metalhead!!...🤘🤘🤘🤘
I really appreciate and enjoy seeing Lex get into all the music I have loved my whole life
The Floods is Dimebag Darrell's masterpiece. I'm so glad you're doing Pantera again, they are one of the greatest metal bands period.
She’s definitely next level. She gets it. Omnipresent on every level.
Its slowly became my favorite pantera song over the last decade
Pantera tightest band ever. Great reaction. RIP Dime and Vinnie.🔥
Phil is absolutely a poet, his lyrics are layers within layers.
Watching Lex groove to groove metal is the highlight of my day 😁
And we like brad too 😁
Vinnie and Dime were THE MOST down to earth rock stars you could ever meet. On any given night in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area they would walk into a random bar just like anyone else. They would appease the fan boys and acknowledge the regular fans. It never happened to me, but it was nothing for a stranger to be invited back to their place once the bar closed to continue partying.
I am with ya Lex, first time I heard this song it was the guitar lead that drew me in!
Lex completely gets the song by paying attention to the music instead of focusing on the lyrics. Nailed it! True metalhead.
I Like how lex is all into the music. She feels the music. she feels the vibe vs trying hard to break it down in a way that will fit into what you think it should be.
Lex is so freaking awesome bouncing her head with the priceless grin on all these metal songs!!!!!
Pantera "accidentally" wrote this song while they were just riffing around. Phil said that broken stuck with him because of the physical state that he was in at the time.(Back pain and addiction to meds) The description of "BROKEN" fit him well.
I see this song as almost an anthem to live the fuck out of your life even if its breaks you. "Will we smile in our coffins...living, laughing, eyes awake". Basically look, I died young, but I died doing what I loved. Phil had back problems from all the touring and playing and it caused him lots of pain, but I think what he's saying in the song is, I might be broken, but I did it on my terms and living my life to the fullest. "I'm broken, inherit my life" to me sounds like Phil saying, I broke my back and maybe don't have a long future doing this, but me playing this music and performing is feeding the fans and new era of metalheads that can pick up my torch and carry it on....inherit my life. The part "Every warning, a leaking rubber, a poison apple of mingled blood" I don't have as clear a picture, but I take this as society tends to "baby proof" the world...everythings bad for you...this might happen, that might happen, condition people to fear taking chances....be afraid and don't try things. Either way, I see the song as a way for Pantera to say live life to the fullest and don't be afraid to take chances, even if it breaks you.
I love how Lex is really into the musical aspect while Brad is reading every lyrics to understand the meanings. Keep it up !
I've always appreciate Pantera's "Van Halen" approach to recording... no backing guitars during the solos. Dime put it all out there with vulnerability. Just his blistering solos with Rex & Vinnie in the pocket holding down the groove. Fucking aces.
That riff is out of control!!!🤘🏾🤘🏾 #RIPDimeAndVinnie🙏🏾🙏🏾😔😔
Not just an old Van Halen guitar was buried with Dime, but the legendary Bumblebee. The guitar Van Halen is pictured with on Van Halen II and was prized after by not only Dime, but legions of Van Halen fans. May they both RIP, I know they are both shreddin' the heavens together.
Pantera always had such rich, meaninful lyrics you would miss in the hard/metal sound and such great musicianship of the band. Truly one of the best with "metal heart".
She is right, you have to feel what the song is about it has a lot of deep meaning to it.
Really interesting to listen to you interpreting and reflecting on songs lyrics. You do it in such a clever and creative way, both of you.
Brad always tries to figure out literal meanings to songs that have no literal meaning while Lex just gets down to the feeling of the song! Shes the ultimate hype woman - if I had a band I would fly her out to be in the front row to guide everyone else how to rock to the music!!!!
5 times I witness the true awesomeness of Pantera live!!!!! There was nothing like it!! They are the Kings!!! I wish you younger generations could understand…. I wish you could have been there
Lex just loves music and can't hide it, that's beautiful
Lex is so in tune with the Pantera sound and I’m loving every minute of it 🤘🏻
One of my favorite Pantera jams. If I recall correctly he wrote the song as kind of a therapy for dealing with his back pain and the meds he was on for that pain.
I love the contrast of Brad being so into figuring out what the song's about and Lex's attitude of fuck that, let's jam.
I always thought that this song was about the way Phil reacted to his back problems, and how he related his coping mechanisms with how he was raised. Basically, if you're raised as an afterthought (poisoned apple) and watched your parent(s) cope in shitty ways, that is how you react when you get older. Hence, when he dealt with back problems, he coped by using drugs instead of finding the best way to fix himself, which made him "broken"....
Yes🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼love that you’re doing this song
my favorite metal band ever. I saw em 3 times back in the early 90s. EPIC😈
Lex doesn’t just listen. She feels it 🤘🏻
This song was Phil’s cry for help, he was actually broken due to back pain issues. He started using painkillers then it kept on with heroine and other strong drugs. This is one of my favorite Pantera songs and to see Lex jamming out makes it better. She’s such a beautiful woman.
I effen love how Lex gets into metal, while Brad seems completely baffled. Great juxtaposition with you two, at least with this genre. You guys make fun videos to watch across all kinds of music, keep up the great work.
Far Beyond Driven might just be my favorite Pantera album. It's pretty freakin' heavy.
A Pantera video around the same time my Pantera Shirt arrived with the mail!
I'm broken, love how he says that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Frak yeah ... one of my favorite Pantera songs, raw power.
Lex over there groovin and dude just sitting there as always looking confused as hell! Lmao.
Got to see them twice in the early 90s. Made the front row the second time. Amazing live band 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Lez I love how you just feel the music! Bless your heart Brad but she gets it! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Lex was on one in this video. Cracking me up. Great video guys!
probly one of my top 5 bands from when I was 13-16. R.I.P Dimebag Darrel you still give me motivation to try to learn to play guitar
Thank you for playing one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time. Thank you, thank you thank you thank you thank you!
Lex headbanging is one of the most adorable things I've ever seen!
I feel like you guys would love "Becoming" from Pantera as well. One of my favorites by them.
Rip Dime & Vin .... i absolutely love u guys!!! Bad ass channel!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
When metal ruled the world baby.
Lex you are so metal 🤘🤘🤘 You one awesome lady.
Been listening to Pantera since they came out. I always interpreted it as "broken" implies that he can be fixed but "broke" means hes not repairable.
React Pantera "Floods"
the studio version, not the live version
First I have watched piles of your videos, this happens to be my favorite band. Its fun to watch Lex get completely engulfed in the music, she is having the reaction that all of us have when we first hear Pantera. Ridiculous musicians, thought provoking lyrics, and incredible guitar work. If you want to see a cool song with alot of transitions listen to Art Of Shredding. Thanks
Phil's lyrics have always been very esoteric in nature. And also his very complex ways of creating song structures for his vocals makes his very deep songs almost impossible for the new listener to catch everything in 1 to 4 goes. He's actually usually saying really deep and meaningful stuff but the drugs did start to play a bigger affect over time. And by then his song become ramblings. I.e. Floods and most of Great Southen Trendkill. Btw. FLOODS has the greatest solo I've heard. I've heard a lot. Impressive ones. But the impact of the one just hits different. All my opinion btw. Don't mean to offend anyone.
Lex you my friend are a born metalhead.
I have always considered it the one song in which Vinnie truly shines.
Love her reaction 😊
Just wanna say , i love you guys!
I've gotta see the looks on y'all's faces for "Floods" one of the most epic guitar solos and outro with killer breakdowns
Phil is such an underrated lyricist. Brad really has a hard time thinking in the abstract, hehe.
Lex hears guitar solo. Lex is happy!! Love it
SO GOOD!
This song is about Phil's heroin addiction when his back was seriously Injured but he couldn't stop touring. He's admitting that he's broken.
Love Pantera! Not a lot of people react to this song, but check out their song Drag the Waters. Pantera never disappoints!
You should listen floods, one of the best songs ever created. Keep going guys you're so fkn awesome and i love your reactions
If you guys do a lyric video of the Pantera song Shedding Skin Brad will freak out over how insane the lyrics are about breaking up a relationship.
YESS MORE PANTERA!!!!🤘🤘✌
Omg its about time. Lol
the abbot brothers were very similar to the halen brothers, and van halen had gifted a guitar to dime to be burried with him, and it was dimebag that was asked to be in megadeth, and dime would do it if his brother was offered as well, but they had already gotten a drummer
The young lady gets it, the gentleman has not yet been acclimated to the _HEAVY_ . Not a problem, the day is new.
Yeah!! More PanterA!!!!!
U guys are tripping!! I love it next SLAYER??? Let's go.
Temazo!
I love the contrast. Brad sitting there all awkward and uncomfortable while Lex is just jamming out and having a great time. I guess opposites do attract.
Pan-fuckin-tera!! Speaks to ya no matter your walk in life.
This is "The Riff", as far as I'm concerned.
Yea I really suck at guitar but I had to learn this song, the main riffs anyway.
@@biggsly5000 it's a rite of passage.
Watching lex say "too , young" is so sick
