Just bought the entire Ally McBeal DVD set and watched my first episode ever and the last song in the pilot episode brought me here. Absolutely loved what I just watched 😊

Series creator and writer David Kelley made a huge mistake in killing off the character of Billy Thomas. His relationship, and childhood romance with Ally McBeal was the "heart" of the series,its "raison d'etre". The life and romantic ideal were torn right out of the series,and no wonder the quality of the series began to go downhill after Billy's death. Yet I must say that the music of the series,especially the songs,were one of the main reasons why Ally McBeal was so popular. They fit the individual characters,and the mood,so perfectly. The blend of music and dialogue was so endearing,so entertaining. In many ways creator/writer David Kelley was a genius at his craft. I only wish he could have found a way to finally reunite Ally and Billy.
I think it was a good decision. Billy had strayed from his original self and it was a big emotional moment - I still cry when I watch it lol. It then allowed Billy to exist as Ally remember him in her mind and I liked those moments where she was still talking to him after he died somehow.

The talent/actor, the music, it told its own story and the timing; ahead of its time, never done before and very filmsly attempts after ! They had a team of geniuses .

i honestly wasn't going to give Ally McBeal a chance, buht i sure am glad i did. Ally && Billy's relationship made me tear up like a baby, this show was so worth my time and this song just goes with the series so well
Me!!! Found all the episodes on-line. Loved it then, love it now.My only criticism is the soundtrack as released, (and I felt the same back then). The TV versions were all superior. The album is over produced. Best wishes.
Oh Ally, Ally, Ally. Loved this show so much and it was my addiction on Wednesday nights, way back when. But man! She should have stuck with Greg, he was so good for her and yes i think she should have listened to her first instinct and just ignored Billys' whispering love confessions at work. If it were up to me, I would have loved for Dylan McDermots character to have been Allys love interest in season 2 after his s1 appearances. Billy got blatantly jealous of the relationship between Ally and Greg, used his fears of a changing work enviroment to get her to go for a drink to discuss this he full on spills his sappy little heart out and confused her emotions. This made her want to believe they were still possibly meant to be, leading to her kissing him and later telling Greg. This caused Greg to dump her believing she doesnt truly want him, but her head was seriously messed up by Billy by now, he effectively blames her for their whole history in the next few episodes, even though he dumped her out of college to go snuggle and marry up with Georgia and didnt even tell her that this was his reason for dmping her back then until she subsequently figured it out by accident. He wants what he cant have and wants what he really doesnt want. Ally. If he did he could have had her already. This is where Dylans character would have been perfectly timed to return for s2 wrap up, and then series regular by s3. If you watch the show back, you see Billy is always dangling carrots and getting jealous when he senses her being vulnerable around him or when she likes somebody else. Hes a schmuck, all told and though I used to like him back when now when I watch it back in my head I feel really sorry for Ally. Billy turns into a blonde egomaniac by s3. Says it all. And dont blame it on the tumour, Billy lovers. You can see I am a very big fan and I still am. This show will always be special and unique. And I will always have a soft spot for seasons 1 and 2 a little above the other 3. Calista Flockhart, you are missed from Manchester UK.

Don't know what went on the set there, why does Betty white never talk about it or Boston Legal, but that show and its music will always be a once in a lifetime work of art. (Nothing else is narrated from first person female perspective and is confidently and openly struggles with mental illness, all balanced out with a good sense of humour. Nothing will be so relevant even to young people today.) maybe this, and Degrassi.
First I hoped that Ally and Billy will end up together then Billy dies, then I wish she would end up with Larry but he left and then finaly I wish she would stay with Victor (Jon Bon Jovi) but he left because she was still in love with Larry. 😢💔 At the end she is alone again... forever...she has Maddie yes but she is lonely 😔 and she has to move for her. I can idenrify with her...😔
