I like it. its slim light weight and the plate looks pretty cool. I mean innovation is what scuba needs. Too busy staying pidgoned hole in an idea. Not saying this is innovating. Just visually appealing. this along with other types of new wing setups are great for introducing new divers. The look and setup reminds me of another Manufacturer "XDEEP" and I know a few who stand behind that product. But keeping this short. Great review/
Well demonstrated. Not for me, I still like the simplicity of a single-piece harness and I've never suffered any crotch chafing. But I can see the appeal for some customers.
Hello timgosling6189, the generic response we have received from our staff, and I echo it as well is, the bladder is the part that no one really likes. The adjustable harness tends to be a favorite of most of our salvage team here as it makes it very easy for them to don and doff it, especially while wearing drysuits. I recently purchased the new SSI version, and removed the bladder (replaced it with the standard 22lb XR bladder), and swapped out the harness as well. The adjustable harness I put on my salvage rig, and the single peice was added to the the XR Rec Trim. Its nothing more than a simple spare for me now.
I am surprised that the cam bands don't go behind the backplate as well. Would it be possible to put them through the backplate as well for added safety?
It is just a waste of material...Thank you for the review in anyway! There is no transition between rec and tech it is one way or the other...When the bladder has no inner bladder just do not buy it. And the crotch strap is just not useful. The silver XR was cool! But by the end of the day, it is backplate and bladder... what could you do wrong?Obviously quite some things 😀
Hello markusleitner3735, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. I would have to refer you to Mares directly to hear their thoughts on why they produced this specific model.
Hello C Dub, great question. The single XR Bladders have a built in tank adapter, unlike the XR Rec Trim system featured in this video. So for the standard XR systems, the Single Tank Adapter is not needed.
Thanx for this video. I'm thinking of transitioning over to this in the future.
Glad you liked the video darrenwesthead7667.

Glad you liked the review allandelapa5863. Innovation is always met with criticism in this industry.

Hello @M.M.M.M.M890, this particular model does not have any slots in the bladder to thread the cam straps.
No mention of dump valves?
Via the inflator K-valve and on the left hip. No shoulder pull-dump.
Hello douglasljdunn, the Mares XR Rec Trim comes with a standard K- Inflator, with a kidney dump on the lower portion of the bladder.

The tank adaptor is clearly on it. What is this guy talking about?

Is the plate suitable for doubles?
Hello @yaniskes, the plate itself, yes. You would of course need a different wing.

Glad you liked the video josephdracula7487.
That thing is hideous
Hello user-pl1io5tb2m, I agree in regards to the bladder.
