- We had the pleasure of interviewing Mitch Grassi of MESSER over Zoom video!
GRAMMY Award-winning vocalist Mitch Grassi today reveals “Machine,” the first original music from his new solo project, Messer.
Messer is about freedom in identity, independence, confidence, queerness, the theatrical, and living your fantasy and romanticizing your life. Basking in beautiful solitude, embracing the darkness we carry within ourselves, as well as celebrating the moments of bliss, humanization, empathy, self-awareness and global awareness.
“Machine” was written by Messer at the beginning of the pandemic, when everything was terrifying, uncertain and incredibly lonely. The song has relatable lyrics and a fun synth pop production.
“We were starting to rely on each other more than ever. “Machine” is about being unconditionally present in someone’s life, someone you love & care about very much. Everyone is complex, and sometimes all they need is solace in another human being, a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear. And, in a sense, this song was written to myself. I wrote it at a time when I was starting to come into myself, and starting to put myself first and give myself love. In that way, it’s an inner promise I carry with me, to broach my emotional needs with kindness, consideration, and self-love. This song embodies faith and new beginnings,” Grassi says.
Be on the lookout for additional Messer original music releases over the coming months.

he's so well spoken and wise. i love him 😭
I loved this bc you asked him very insightful, thought provoking, deep questions. Nothing superficial at all. His voice is literally one of the most extraordinary voices of all time. I can't wait to hear the rest of the EP.
Thank you Lexy for the kind words! We can't thank you enough for checking out the interview!
Thank you so much for this. I love Mitch, such a beautiful person inside and out with the voice and heart of an angel. He’s always so open and real too. He deserves all the success and happiness in the world.
Thank you so much for this interview. Such a great one!
Mitch/Messer is one of the most talented artists of all time.
Thank YOU so much J. We can't thank you enough for listening to the interview!
Mitch is so wellspoken, listening to him talk is so relaxing, and he doesn't use parasite words ("like" or "u know")
Thanks for checking out the interview!
Frrr he’s a great speaker
Thank you for sharing him, we long to hear all about him, he's pretty deep and a lot of us love him, and the depth that he portrays and brings to music.
This is a great interview. Mitch was given the opportunity to speak to his dreams and ambitions by the interviewer and it went well. I feel like people listening who didn't before would come to realize that he is so much more than a queen little boy who grew up and can sing. He demonstrates a clear intellectual foundation and God-given talent that people never fully realized. Mitch/Messer has yet to fully emerge and when he does he will exhibit more breath taking beauty than he does now. I don't think he has a full understanding of it himself yet. I will never see it as alas I am older, but I will enjoy every moment I can. Young man I thank you and your band mates for bringing the beauty of your music into my world.
I enjoyed your interview with Mitch (Messer). Thank you.

Mitch's voice is pure gold.
When I was in college and heavily involved in music,
I knew so many guys like him who were into show tunes and listened to like Cabaret & Rent Soundtracks,
and into trip-hop like sneaker pimps, zero 7, basement jaxx, and our canadian girls alanis, nelly furtado, etc.
That's so cool Caaprice! You're not in the music scene anymore?
I think you've got the most beautiful voice i've ever heard i've felt that since I first heard it in Amazing Grace❣️❣️I adore you Mitch I always will❣️💯💯💯🦄🦄🦄

Thank you Jennie! We completely agree!!
Mitch, thanks for the interview. I know we’ll probably never meet, but this interview…I resonate with all that you said about your ‘life’ experience with music - especially about writing. I’d love to be able to talk about music and life with you. I love that you are so articulate and well spoken. Anyway, from what you shared in this interview, we have some common experiences. Writing, was the ‘last frontier’ for me. I sang first, then my sister and I took piano lessons. Ironically, she wanted them and I didn’t but after the first lesson, the tables turned, and I loved playing piano and my sister didn’t. I learned about harmony after a long drive when my older sister started teaching us younger ones folk songs and harmonies as a distraction from fighting in the car. It worked, and I just LOVED singing harmonies and I would, kind of feel like I was floating in the air during those times. I just knew that that was when I was happiest - when we would sing together in 3-part harmony. My love of harmony and singing in general became a driving force in my life. It was also a bit of a curse in some ways, because aside from them, I could not find anyone else that I could experience that with, because none of my friends or fellow classmates could sing harmony…I was also aware that I preferred to be alone rather than with others. I was fine with one or two friends - any more than that, and I would just want to disappear or flee. I never felt like I belonged anywhere and my parents (at least my dad, who was a thespian and a playwright) didn’t really support me if it didn’t include drama. One day when I was an emotional and lonely teenager, I realized that I communicate my feelings/thoughts/prayers much easier if I sang them rather than try to speak them out loud. That’s when I started thinking about writing. But first, I was desperate for more harmony, so when I was 15, I started arranging voices so I could create harmonies myself…but no one could read music but me so it was a slow and tedious process to accomplish anything with my peers. Still, I kept arranging voices even though I had never been taught and had no one I could sing them with except my younger sister.
I didn’t start composing music and lyrics until my early twenties, but I didn’t have any confidence in myself. I HAD to be alone when I wrote, and I would only play my songs to a few friends that I trusted. Anyway, since you are likely to never read this, I’ll stop now. Again, I loved your interview and what you expressed. Your voice is utterly perfect - I would rather listen to you than Dimash any day. I so wanted to attend the Pentatonix class but I am as poor as a church mouse, and $250.00 might as well be 2million, as far as I’m concerned. But, hopefully, some time I will be able to save up so I can attend the next class Pentatonix offers. Anyway, bless you, Mitch.
Bravo!!! Finally YOUR story. That's all that I can come up with. It's the middle of the night and coffee isn't even helping
Please keep your story on Utube

Watching this after the EP dropped. It was so fascinating to hear him talk about the songs more and his songwriting process. It was also interesting that he mentioned that he had a few more that didn't make to the EP. I remember he teased one on a livestream that I didn't hear on the record, and wondered where it was haha.
